  1. That looks very lekker!
  2. New Evil Following! So much of want!
  3. For R350k I’d look at the following new or secondhand: Mazda CX-3 Mazda CX-5 Toyota RAV4 (previous shape) Toyota C-HR Suzuki Vitara Honda CRV Honda HRV I worked for a Korean manufacturer, I would not touch their products with a barge pole. The lack of competent dealer and manufacturer support is criminal. Go for something with a proven track record with a solid dealer close to you and with nationwide support.
  4. Assume this is on the XCO route, not the main trail?
  5. There are some trails on the Bill Stewart reserve across from the Linksfield ridge. Couple nice downhills and a couple climbs to make you sweat
  6. Cogent for sure. But if you just need a lower or air can service, hit up YouTube and DIY it
  7. Ooooooh headshot! Loving the Trance for the time being. My frame of reference is limited, but it does everything I want it to. Climbs well and is a ripper on the downs
  8. I did indeed. It was flying under my radar before that review, now it is top of the (N+1) list. Pity the Trance 29 was not in the test so I could see how it did against my current bike.
  9. The new Phantom is calling my name
  10. Renthal control goodness! Fractive tune and full service on my fork. Highly recommended! Cogent Industries will hook you up
  11. I just want to add that after changing my GX chain at 0.5 wear for an X01 chain I am experiencing much smoother shifts both up and down my GX cassette
  12. Made from similar stuff to the cycling ones. Vented ones also available
  13. Go to your local motorcycle shop and pick up an MX style jersey
  14. Bikenetwork.co.za has a good written review and YouTube video. Have a look
  15. Probably the best trail in Gauteng that I have experienced
  16. Buffel route at Buffelsdrift. Man it was warm!
  17. Going to the carbon Merida will save a kilo just in terms of the frame, so still 14kg odd. The Spark will still be close to 14kg out the box. Unless you want to pay big ZARs and get something like a top spec Tallboy, Ripley or Trance 29 Advanced I don't think there is a cheap way to "fix" this and meet your requirements
  18. What Eddy said, cycle it around 30% of travel 20 times every 50 PSI. If that doesn't work it needs some professional attention
  19. Very naaaaice
  20. Just ticked over 1500km and my GX Eagle chain is at 0.5. X01 chain on the way to replace it
  21. Seems that for the steeps (of which there are basically vokol in Gauteng) the Optic is the bees knees. The Kona seems a bit more of a balanced bike. Like a slightly pumped up Trance 29
  22. Love that Kona Process 134

    Helmets?

Bell Sixer and Bell 4Forty are both highly recommended! Also, cleaning the helmet in the dishwasher does not seem like the smartest idea. The heat could be enough to damage the foam and the glue holding it together. Some warm water and mild detergent (shampoo for example) is recommended by helmet manufacturers and is how I have always done it
  24. Select on sale at Evobikes now. Just saying
  25. A Pike will be a huge step up from a Recon, no matter what the model. It is a more complex fork, so some setup to get the volume spacers, pressure, rebound and compression will take a little time.
