There was a crash at the end for the front of B batch, the bike marshal was really quick at stopping traffic etc so that I could help the kid get back up and going again. I told her I would ride with him till the finish to make sure ok etc.

Kid put me in the hurt locker for last 2km!!

The bike marshals are such an asset!

That kid won Under 17 age cat at WC Champs last week.

  2. Hi guys,

Thinking of getting a Garmin watch as well. Not sure if i need to get a Fitness watch or smartwatch.

I have Garmin 520 on my bike so I just need something to do sleep tracking, body battery etc when im off the bike.

Someone mentioned a Fenix 6 might be overkill? Is this where a Vivoactive 4 or Venu 2 is more ideal for off the bike monitoring?

  3. Just be alert when training outback Contermanskloof and Malanshooge Roads. 3 black guys in a white Nissan 1400 bakkie tried to bike jack a rider at 7:30am this morning. They pretend to be broken down at the side of the road with the bonnet open. They were following rider until the entrance to Conties where they waited. He knew something was up so when this guy jumped out of the bakkie with a knife, rider sprinted pass him. Flagged cars down and 2 cars stopped only then did the thugs flee.

Thanks for posting this alert Milky.

I was the intended target of these a*holes this morning. Luckily I was alert enough to suspect something was going to happen.

I also have to thank the 2 motorists who stopped when I flagged them down. The thugs saw this and drove off.

So thanks to the guy in the Ford Everest and to the couple in the Toyota Fortuner. They were kind enough to drive behind me till I got to a busier section of road.

  4. They do seem to have upped their game of late - but of the 5 parcels they have delivered to me this year my last experience was by far the best, the rest were woeful.

They also charge a R200 admin fee for clearing - that just about doubles the costs CRC quotes on the order.  Most other couriers charge admin fees less than R50 or absorb this costs - this grates me the most in that they charge the most for the worst admin and service??

    DHL admin fee is R150

  5. This will be interesting. Let us know the outcome. Somehow I just know you gonna get your frame first.

Took 5 days for Tacx Neo to be delivered (DHL), more than 2 weeks for tools (Skynet) go figure

    Update on my side.

DHL called me on Tuesday to tell they have a package for me and VAT is payable.

They asked if they can email the invoice. The invoice popped into my inbox wednesday.

I forgot to pay it and remembered at around 10pm that I need to pay.

On the invoice was a payment portal similar to PayGate. DHL handling Fee was R150.

Thursday morning at at 10am DHL was at my door.

The other half of my package with SkyNet.

They emailed me monday to say there is Vat payable.

They sent invoice yesterday. I made payment today. Handling fee R200

    I will keep you updated.

  6. I got and returned that clearance form from skynet on the 3rd May, eventually got the Vat invoice from them a week later and paid it directly into their account (Nedbank to Nedbank) they acknowledged that they money had cleared in their account the same day but as yet and now almost 3 weeks after they recover the package they cannot tell me when they will clear and deliver.

    Geez!

  7. Been following this thread for a while and it put me off buying anything from CRC.

But last week they had a really great deal on a frame. So I figured I would take the risk since its such a big parcel. My logic is that it will be in a big box so they wont be able to miss or forget something like that on the shelf somewhere in the warehouse. I decided to add pedals and a pair of tyres to the order as well.

Order was paid for and then they sent me an email to say that the pedals and tyres were despatched on 16th May with Skynet. Turns out they sending 2 separate packages.

2 days later the frame gets dispatched with DHL.

So now im thinking those pedals and tyres is a lost cause and I should forget about it. There were no tracking updates on their site since the stuff left the warehouse.

This morning I get an email from Skynet to say I should fill out the clearance form and they will send me the Vat invoice to pay.

Im feeling optimistic about this order but lets see how it ends.

According to DHL my frame landed this morning. A day earlier than scheduled. No one made contact with me yet.

  8. Hi,

Unfortunately, crank-based power metres like the Pioneer, Stages and 4iiii wont work on the Scotts that have the brake caliper under the BB.

Other options are Garmin pedals and Powertap pedals.

Another option would be to change the caliper to a TRP caliper that sits more flush
