  2. Oh PUH-leeeeeze!!! You willinglingly took your helmet off and proceeded to give Ronelle a few poses for her to photograph! Ronelle, thanks for the pics! These are really great. Poisin - thanks for "nagging" me - I really enjoyed this and will definately be back. Pedal - I caught the stompies of your "big announcement" - can you please post your BIG news here?
  3. This ride looks so great. How about we plan a hub ride out there? Some time after Karoo to Coast?
  4. Gee thanks for offering me up Colonel! I think I'd rather go rike in Majik Forest on Wed evening
  5. Marius and Lilo did this last year - PM him for the profile.
  6. Sorry fatty - Good help is just too hard to find nowadays. Wash your own dishes
  7. I've just taken my road bike on SAA. Just bubble wrapped the jockey, the top tube and my handle bars. I went and spoke to the guys as they were loading it into the cargo and my bike is fine and dandy - no damage.
  8. *Sigh* I don't think I should have looked at this post. I suddenly feel sick....think I should probably be spending alot more time on the bike!
  9. Awesome bike Pantani! I'm dying to know what kit you wear when (if) you ride this guy!

  11. The wind is your friend. Do you hide from your friends? Quite right...the wind is my friend when its behind me
  12. The more the merrier. I need some serious bodies to hide behind on the way back home into the predicted South Easter.
  13. Chris H - to say that I'm insanely jealous! Looks like a great place to ride...am already making plans to get out there. I've packed my bike in today, with the hope that this rain will stop and I can go play in Tokai this afternoon. I hope that makes YOU jealous
  14. Well - Manners I suppose. You don't go make making sweeping statements about people - be it true or false - unless you are prepared to answer for your actions.
  15. Onetime - it's Fatty - not me! BMC, please don't call me Tannie!! And as much as I like pink, please don't come near me with a can of neon pink spraypaint! I think Colonel might arrange for you to "disappear" if you tried Thanks Tjoppies!
  16. Thanks everyone! I rode the Hex Valley on him on Sat and I cannot believe what a MASSIVE difference the dual suspension makes. For once I felt so totally and completely in control - which makes for a pleasant change. Then of course, I had to ride him again on Sun so I joined mdk and the gang for two laps around Koeberg - where I met Pedal's Daffy! Must say Pedal - that is also a very smart looking bike! Mampara - if only you knew how much research I did looking for a pink bike in my price range! But hey - this is obviously a boy bike and I still love him (even though Fatty insists on calling him Frank!) I can't wait for the weekend to go ride again!
  17. Thanks Onetime! PappaBear - Vinny is a Boy...
  18. Take a look at my beautiful new bike!
  19. It's like a limo!
  20. Imagine being his massage therapist??
  21. All the best Willehond. So is that how it is - I finally meet you in real life and you bugger off a month later! Hope it wasn't something I said!
  22. Gnarly - funny guy! I would NEVER get on a tandem with my husband - let alone a mtb tandem, and never at the epic. Wadaya Smoking??
  23. Last week I started a thread asking for some advice for a tandem novice - because that's exactly what I was last week. Thanks everyone for that advice - this is my take on tandem riding... On my way to our start point on Saturday morning (in my car) I see mdk555 pulling out at the stop street with no-one on the back on his tandem, and only my lonely pink saddle. It made me think of one of those t-shirts that say "if you can read this, the bitch has fallen off". We had an almost drama with the pedals, but I must say - Hats Off to mdk for ALWAYS being incredibly calm, relaxed and patient! We did a quick lap around the parking lot and even practiced standing! I had everyone's advice in the back of my mind and took note not to stop pedaling, move suddenly, steer or hold too tightly onto the handle bars. A few km's into the ride, I was convinced that either I'm used to riding a skew bike, or the tandem was skew...turns out the handles bars were slightly off. Once I knew that I could relax and start enjoying myself. I was amazed at how little work we needed to do to go fast. The poor guys that rode in our bunch were a little worse for wear at the end - and I felt (almost) as fresh as a daisy! So all in I had a GREAT time. Big thanks to mdk555 for being such a fantastic pilot. There is something to be said about having the "official tandem rider promoter" as your pilot. He spoke to me the whole time about what to do and what not to do - about what he was doing up front and what I could anticipate. I can imagine that riding tandem would make you quite strong - there were times where I was pushing myself harder than I normally would, because I didn't want to be a "lazy" stoker, and boy, did I feel that extra work on my "normal" ride yesterday. My advice? If you ever get a chance to jump onto a tandem (not sure about being a pilot!), grab the chance - ESPECIALLY if gentleman mdk extends the offer for his 555EXPRESS! Mike - once again - THANKS
  24. Thanks Pedal. To say - I've always vowed that I'm 110% certain that riding tandem with my husband will almost certainly result in a divorce - is testament to the faith I have in mdk has my pilot. Sorry Colonel, it's true.
