  1. This is what it says on their site: With your Garmin device, you’ll earn points in the fitness category if you exercise at a specific intensity, for a specific time. Each adult can earn up to 15 000 Vitality fitness points and another 24 000 bonus fitness points each year. Points take up to one week to show on your Vitality membership after you upload it on LivingVitality. Please note: If you use the GarminConnect website to upload your workout data, you still need to upload your workout data on LivingVitality to earn your Vitality points. How to calculate your Vitality points To earn 150 Vitality points a day, you have to do at least 30 minutes of physical activity at or above a specific intensity for at least 30 minutes a session.Because different activity devices collect different information, we explain below what you will need to do to earn Vitality points depending on the type of data your device collects. The tables also show the number of Vitality points you earn when you exercise at the required intensity. Heart rate data Points each day Yearly limit for an adult on Vitality Vitality points: 30 minutes or more at an average heart rate of more than or equal to 60% of your maximum age-related heart rate 150 15 000 Bonus points: 30 minutes or more at an average heart rate of more than or equal to 70% of your maximum age-related heart rate or 60 minutes or more at an average heart rate of more than or equal to 60% of your maximum age-related heart rate 50 24 000 Speed data Points each day Yearly limit for an adult on Vitality Vitality points: 30 minutes or more at a minimum average speed of 4 kilometres an hour 150 15 000 Bonus points: 30 minutes or more at a minimum average speed of 7.2 kilometres an hour or 60 minutes or more at a minimum average speed of 4 kilometres an hour 50 24 000 Calorie data Points each day Yearly limit for an adult on Vitality Vitality points: Minimum 30 minutes and a minimum of 150 calories (at a rate of no fewer than 300 calories an hour) 150 15 000 Bonus points: Minimum 30 minutes and a minimum of 300 calories (at a rate of no fewer than 600 calories an hour) or Minimum 60 minutes and a minimum of 300 calories (at a rate of no fewer than 300 calories an hour) 50 24 000 Please note: If you use the GarminConnect website to upload you workout data, there is an option to clear your data from your device after you have uploaded it. If you clear it, you will not be able to upload older details to LivingVitality.
  2. can't you import .gpx files though? Or do you need to do it directly from the unti?
  3. In the other thread, http://www.thehubsa....week-come-join/ , people have already asked and been answered all the relevant questions regarding place, pace, distance, etc. Starting a new thread means that it's going to be regurgitated again.
  4. Just an observation, but why don't you keep the posts to the other thread that people are already following? Ie this one: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/123974-training-group-from-cwc-in-the-week-come-join/
  5. We will start a whole new challenge, everyone starts at zero. Just watch this space for more info.
  6. Yup, will be doing the same challenges for 2013, and will also try to incorporate people using Strava (another free app for tracking workouts).
  7. Congratulations!!
  8. Don't lambast the lambics! They're my favorite! But Leinenkugel isn't considered a microbrewery.
  9. All this talk about shopping is making me bummed that I'm not going home for the holidays But my credit cards are thanking me!
  10. The only thing to watch out for with those cashbacks, is that they are vouchers for the same stores. And... they're cashback vouchers for January... Good for if you live there, not good for if you're on holiday. One other thing to note though is that if you see something advertised online or in print for cheaper than at another big box store, you can take that to them and ask them to match or better the deal.
  11. If it's a brand new item, it won't go on sale until march/april (EDIT: at the earliest). And for some reason all the stores honor that!
  12. Awesome news!
  13. Cycling clothing, helmets, electronics are all much cheaper. If you have the address of where you're staying, check out www.performancebike.com, they have stores and you can order online. I've found that parts, lights, wheels, and some other accessories are about the same there as it is here. Where in the States are you going? EDIT: And since it's winter there, do yourself a favor and get a proper winter jacket that doesn't cost an arm and a leg! For general electronics/gadgets go to a Best Buy www.bestbuy.com and prepare to get your mind blown!
  14. Here's the preliminary PPA calendar for the beginning of next year: http://www.pedalpower.org.za/blog/news/summer-2013-events/
  15. Great job to everyone for the stellar times! I had a good ride overall. I was on target for getting my original goal time, and then picked up a thorn on steriods at Wellington! And then i lost some time when my first bomb went off early and my 2nd bomb didn't want to work properly. Fortunately a guy in E on a mtb stopped to help me! Thank you, you are awesome! Ended up with a 3:31. Lots of fun working for that time! I saw Many Lemons and the cousins. And then a couple of hubbers in the beer tent!
  16. I got Glamour - after swopping it out with House and Food with my coworker!
  17. Just got my race packet!!! It's official, my first Burger!
  18. The distance is 23km. Time wise on my mtb is 1h15 to get home and 1h00 to get to work. And on the roadbike its 1h05 to get home and 55min to get to work. That's at an easy pace. I prefer it on the mtb because there are a couple of sections that have some debris on the road, and then if I hit peak hour traffic on the way home, the stretch along Tiekie Draai from Tygervalley Road to St. John's I can ride on the gravel and avoid the backed up traffic!
  19. It's my pipe dream... not sure how close I'll get to it, but I'll try. I'm thinking we should print out little hub stickers to pin on the back of our shirts or something?
  20. Yup, that's the plan. Go up Hels at my own pace, and then only start racing once I'm over. I should have plenty of groups that I can latch on to. I'd like to aim for a 3:15
  21. I think we should!
  22. One of my friends isn't doing the race anymore, I can find out if he still has his entry. Sorry, he's sold it already
  23. Yup, you had better have that beer ready as I limp over the start! I still think they made a mistake with seeding me in F! At least there should be lots of fast groups passing me that I can latch on to!
  24. Yikes! I'm in F!
  25. And me!
