  1. As lapa said, you don't need to take a women's specific bike. Try looking at "men's" bikes as well, the spec on them are generally higher and not as expensive.
  2. Ironic that it was a hatch kit and your hatch was displayed
  3. Do it! I moved back to SA at 29 from the States, with the plan to stay for two years max. Almost three years later and I'm busy buying a house here! The experience that you can gain working overseas is well worth the effort. A lot of places if you're willing to work hard, and not fussy about what jobs you do, you can definitely make it work. I worked at a gas station for 1.5 years, but it was a job that paid well. And then waitressing put me through college. And you're still young enough that in the unlikely event it doesn't work out, you can come back and start over. And there are places all over the world that are looking for workers, the Middle East was an option that I was exploring, and I have a few friends that work in Singapore, so also try to keep your options open in that respect. Where ever you do decide to go though, definitely look up expat groups on facebook or meetup in whatever area you're considering and talk to other South Africans about their experiences, and find out what some of the things are that they would do differently. You can save yourself a lot of time and hassles upfront.
  4. If there's a safety car, I'll be the designated photographer
  5. Awww... I'm missing out! I enjoy these recce rides!
  6. Spoke to Neil last night, he is on deck Mondays and Thursdays to help with stroke correction/technique/learning to swim. If anyone is interested, you can come and check it out before committing. We will also be adding in a morning session 6:30am-8am tues and thurs
  7. Cape Town Masters has a group that swims at the Bellville public pool Monday through Thursday from 6pm-7:30pm. Neil is on deck twice a week to help with stroke correction. There is a set every night. Cost is R50 for the tag to get in to the pool and R100 as a donation towards the pool rental. If you guys want more info, just PM me.
  8. Wheels! Nothing wrong with 105.
  9. When you upload it will get all the files off your device, it's still within the pop-up window, and then before you hit continue, the activities show running, you need to select cycling. Unfortunately don't have an activity to download and show you where it is.
  10. Ok, so mini update... My physio does not think it's an impingement, mainly due to the fact that it's been 1 year and 9 months since the initial injury, and she knows that my shoulder isn't stable because she's seen me do pushups (a hazard or blessing of having your physio being one of your best friends). So current prognosis is that my stabilizing muscles are weak and don't like all the exercise that I've been doing lately and are now spasming to the point that the nerves are pinching. Going to see her once more this week and try to get the muscles to relax, but we did make an appointment with the shoulder specialist for next week just incase. So moral of the story, don't skimp on your exercises that they give you during rehab.
  11. @Team CTG, unfortunately anytime branded item is worn and the wearee does something wrong, it is seen as a brand that has done wrong and not the actualy wearee. Same with company cars with branding and alleged perpetrators breaking road rules, it's much easier to point the finger to a company/brand then, than joe schmoe driving his beat up VW. Hence, it's important for teams and clubs to instill good etiquette and remind their members to wear the kit with pride, and act courteously. Because it can prevent these kinds of scenarios playing out. The fact that you're on here debating about it is great. I just hope that you can portray to your club members the importance of keeping a brand in good standing with the general public.
  12. Ugh, that doesn't sound very good. And most of those symptoms you've described, is what I've been experiencing
  13. Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is that?
  14. Is there anyone that's had a rotator cuff injury that's healed and has had possible nerve damage? I thought I just aggravated my shoulder a bit, but since last Thursday I get shooting pains down my arm, originating from my shoulder area, and then my arm and hand goes numb. It'll be fine for a while and then just something simple as turning the steering wheel or picking up a mug of coffee will aggravate it again. Have an appointment with the physio this afternoon (originally made the appointment when I thought I just aggravated the muscles again), so will see what she recommends.
  15. They're repairable. My aunt has repaired quite a few shorts for my friends, so if you don't get right with Assos, PM me and we can make a plan.
  16. The problem is that the road is still closed and since the construction is very close to being wrapped up, there aren't as many workers around as what there were in the beginning. So it's a nice access for all kinds of people that aren't in vehicles since the roads are supposed to be blocked on either side. I've had to do site inspections in the middle of the day but end up cutting it short because there are some dodgy people hanging around there and the crews were too far away for my liking. EDIT: so once the road is open, there will be more traffic and less likely that undesirables lurking around.
  17. Today I learnt that if things can go wrong, they ALL tend to go wrong! - Overslept this morning and was in a rush to leave since I was meeting up with a buddy - Forgot my puncture kit and pump in my car at the office last night - Rode over a broken beer bottle - saw it too late and then couldn't avoid it - Got a slow puncture so had to stop - fortunately my buddy let me use his pump and had managed to only have to pump the wheel up twice to get in to work - Get to work and shower is broken, so have to drive to gym - And then to top it all off, I have a white shirt on and packed the wrong color underwear But was still a blast!
  18. The official opening of the Sandown extension is October 29th, so it'll be safe to do it from then.
  19. Yup, did my first commute again yesterday going home and in again this morning. Going to start commuting more regularly, so will be keen to possibly meet up. I also try to get in before 7am.
  20. I did not pitch because I've been sick and haven't trained in the last 3 weeks. I tried to substitute my entry for the 1 tonner but PPA would not allow me to do that. If subs were allowed, I think a lot more people would've showed up.
  21. As long as I'm infront, then it's all good!
  22. No problem, PM me your number, then when I start up again, I'll give you a shout. The worst part is going over the N7 and the last stretch getting in to Century City, and then in the afternoons, getting out of Century City until just past the Edgemead Road turn off. But I make sure cars see me and know what I plan on doing.
  23. Yup! Go over Tiekie, then through Burgundy Estates to Bosmansdam Road. Doc just booked me two weeks off exercise, so once up, I'll start the trek again.
  24. I can do some creative juggling
  25. At least two mugs worth
