  1. I can do some creative juggling
  2. At least two mugs worth
  3. Big Thumbs up to Wayne and Dipslick! You guys rock!
  4. If Wannabe makes sure there's coffee, I'll volunteer.
  5. Now you just making things complicated! But remember, Mr Blue is a guvment employee, they probably can only afford fish tanks as screens!
  6. Try Alt+tab next time, works much better...
  7. So what happened to last week's tip result?
  8. I have to disagree about the kicking. Praciticing kicking makes you more cognizant of your leg position in the water, ie if you're dragging or not. Also if you have a strong kick, then in any event, even open water where you barely kick is more beneficial than dragging your legs in the water.
  9. Masters groups are really good to swim with. There's always someone there faster than you. You'll find that even though you don't do the distance in the session that you're used to, you're working a hell of a lot harder than swimming by yourself. And when you do go swim the distance events, you'll be surprised at how easy you find them.
  10. Generally if you provide a letter stating: I, so and so, id number so and so, race number so and so, give person x permission to pick up my packet. And then sign it.
  11. @mon-goose, why such long sets? Just curious
  12. When laying out your socks, fold/roll them in half so that the top of the sock is by the toes of the sock, it'll be easier to slide your feet in to them and then pull the remainder of the sock up to save some time in transition.
  13. During swim training leading up to the event, practice hypoxic breathing during pulling sets. I.e. a 3 x 100m set can look like this: 100m - 25m breath every 3rd stroke, 50m breath every 5th stroke, 25m breath every 3rd stroke 100m - 25m breath every 5th stroke, 50m breath every 7th stroke, 25m breath every 5th stroke 100m - 25m breath every 7th stroke, 50m breath every 9th stroke, 25m breath every 7th stroke This will help during the swim leg of the tri to build confidence that if you get kicked in the face or get a wave splashing in to you and you can't breathe, you won't panic because you'll be able to breath on the next stroke.
  14. When buying goggles, push them against your face/eyes without putting the straps around your head. They should stick automatically, this will help to ensure a tight seal and good fit to avoid water leaking in to them during the swim. Every head/face is different, so what works for your friend won't necessarily work for you.
  15. Make your setup in the transition area noticable with by tying a helium balloon around the stand or keeping it at your station. If you can't get one, look around for other people that might have at their areas and try to set up nearby if possible.
  16. Don't drink coffee and read Garf's tips at the same time
  17. Don't forget to use sunscreen, especially for the longer races.
  18. Take along a 2 litre bottle of water to splash the grass and/or sand off your feet before putting on your socks
  19. Make sure to use glide gel around your neck and other spots where the wetsuit can chafe, otherwise co-workers ask who gave you hickeys.
  20. If the swim start is from the beach, run with your elbows out (yes you look like a chicken), but it creates space around you before entering the water.
  21. Glad you're okay!
  22. Thanks OOM DIPS for the reminder, however, I was already approaching the intersection at 25kph but I heard the loud roar of an engine behind me and slacked off because the intersection is known for tjops just turning left there with no turn signals, so I at least was prepared and turned with the car.
  23. Wannabe, I wouldn't worry too much, as per any of the training rides, people generally naturally group off in racing snakes, fastish, and social groups. Maybe just mention that to make sure you try not to leave any one rider alone, and just have a sweeper from the rear to make sure no one gets left behind.
  24. I got a new commuting machine! And slicks go MUCH faster than knobblies! And ladies in SUV's will turn left infront of you while you're almost in the intersection.
  25. You can ride and your wife can drive the back up vehicle! Win win for all!
