  1. We watched Dead Pool last night. Totally kickass! I loved the references to all the old movies that he's previously starred in. The bridge fight scene in the beginning was shot here in Cape Town in case anyone was wondering.
  2. Just do one thing at a time and slowly. Ie, slowly brake, slowly turn the wheel, slowly accelerate. If you get stuck, you can generally get out if you "rock" the car, ie move forward and backward until you can get traction again.
  3. Well using The Finest Hours as an example, the story was really interesting because it depicted a real life event. From the effects, if that is what they actually had to go through, the fact that they did it and survived is pretty amazing. In general though, if I can get lost in a movie, then to me it was good, whether it be story line, effects, or acting. Sometimes you know a movie is just all out rubbish, but the entertainment factor is huge, like San Andreas - totally unbelievable, but the sheer absurdity was entertaining.
  4. Really enjoyed it. I think it would be best appreciated on the big screen due to the special effects, but all still fairly believable.
  5. It's showing in 4dx at the Waterfront
  6. After reading this fred, I think it's time for a new helmut. I think my helmet is about 5 years now. Problem is that I can't find something that I like the look of
  7. I watched The Finest Hours over the weekend. A definite must watch.
  8. Not to sound too facetious, but as long as you hit your goal each week, why nit pick the points allocations? I would think that for most of us this would be easy peasy.
  9. From News24: http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/table-mountain-death-seems-to-have-been-an-accident-police-20160201 Cape Town – The death of a man on a popular Table Mountain hiking trail at the weekend appears to have been an accident and not murder as was widely reported. This comes after a runner told the Cape Arguson Sunday that he had come across the lifeless body of a man on the Pipe Track. The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said the man’s throat had apparently been slit “from ear to ear”. The runner said he was running down Kasteelspoort when he saw “a trail of blood” and police covering the body. Western Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut told News24 on Monday that the circumstances surrounding the death of a 57-year-old man in Kasteelspoort are being investigated and that a death inquest case docket has been registered for this purpose. "Preliminary investigations on the scene suggested that the man was a victim of crime and that he sustained a stab wound, however after a thorough investigation it was discovered that he possibly fell and sustained the fatal wound as a result thereof," Traut said. In June last year, News24 reported that security was ramped up on the mountain due to co-operation between Table Mountain Safety Forum, the SA Police Service and the City of Cape Town’s metro police. “The working of the TMSF helped to secure the arrest of suspects responsible for the mugging of two University of Cape Town students in November,” the co-operative forum said. The name of the victim has not yet been released.
  10. Do you have to register for the gym booster prior to getting the cash back? Or what exactly is this gym booster thing you guys speak of?
  11. Your average person won't be able to swim that pace. You'd have to average 1:45 per 100m without resting.
  12. All my rewards just re-appeared Guess what I'm having for lunch...
  13. My rewards also just disappeared. Wanted to redeem them on Saturday and all 3 went *poof* Gone! Was not impressed...
  14. yup!
  15. I liked it, but I also didn't like that it was pretty gory. There were a couple of times I had to just close my eyes. The one scene I had to leave the room
  16. I'm assuming you're talking about Into the Heart of the Sea? Saw the movie, and thought it was quite good. The story is based more on the crew, the moby dick whale only features for a short while.
  17. my cholesterol also came in very high and I have historically very low cholesterol, so not sure what the deal is with that.
  18. There's something similar in Cape Town: http://thegalileo.co.za/ Definitely a fun way to watch a movie
  19. For the Vitality Health Check - is it per calendar year? Or do I need to wait x amount of time before I can go again? I went beginning of December.
  20. I'll be sure not to check Le Hub just in case. At least I'll be watching it at the NuMetro Scene - with nice comfy seats, so nah nah nah nah nah
  21. I'm optimistic that it'll be good. We've booked tickets for the 21st so missing some of the initial rush.
  22. I'm on Diamond. Savings that I use the most are on travelling. For instance I'm about to book tickets with Emirates to Chicago - normal price is R14200 and I'll be getting it for R9400. To get to gold is very easy imho, I don't really do anything out of the ordinary except for the health check which I had to make a 15 minute appointment for and then drive to it.
