  1. Yeah, I got a big bunny for my puppy as well, originally she was smaller than the bunny, and then afterwards, she was massive compared to the bunny. I had to hide and move all my stuffed animals out of her reach, because after that she thought all fluffy toys were hers. Surprisingly never tore any of them to bits, just slobbered and played with them.

  3. Hopefully will be able to start commuting again soon! Are there any hubbers that commute from Durbanville to CPT?
  4. What I would like to think that Carte Blanche is doing is that they're bringing to light that cyclists get the short end of the stick. We may not be able to solve this issue now, but I like to think that if we keep highlighting the risks of vehicles taking no regard for cyclists, that maybe eventually we'll have safe roads to drive on, because drivers will hopefully think twice before thinking screw the cyclists, they're in my way. Probably the biggest thing that we as cyclists can come together and do is to educate other road users that we have as much right to the road as them. One of the biggest things that I get hassled with are people yelling profanties such as get off the road and try to intimidate me by trying to run me off the road because "I don't belong there". If you want a prime example of this mentality then just take a look at some of the comments that were left on the article on News24 yesterday about the 2 cyclists that were hit on Friday out in Stellenbosch. And this comment is really to everyone that thinks your story won't make a difference so why bother. If we can get numbers and stats, then we've got actual proof of incidents, not just hearsay. And numbers and actual stories make a far bigger impact if they're as close to being correct as possible.
  5. What scotty said. EDIT: Can you add in cut-off by a vehicle, ie they're turning right or left in front of you as you approach the intersection and you have to take evasive action to avoid them.

  14. I think it would depend on how much time you can spend with your dog. Ie if you can exercise the dog properly and stimulate it mentally as DJR said, also I think socializing with people and other animals is important as well. With that in mind I don't think there's any issues with owning just one dog. I actually would love to get a pet, but unfortunately my schedule is too hectic for me to be able to spend sufficient time with any furry friend
  15. Here's my baby with her high heels on:
  16. This is quite cute: http://www.viralnova.com/pet-before-and-after/
  17. That's a really really tough decision to make. A few years ago we had to make the same decision about our Rottie, Jake. He was a true gentleman. He was also fine and then all of a sudden started struggling to walk. We took him to the vet and the prognosis was bone cancer. He deteriorated extremely quickly after that. My parents decided to make the decision to put him down that if he broke a bone, that he may end up being in too much pain that when we helped him that the may accidentally bite one of us without really meaning to. The day he was taken to the vet was probably one of the saddest days in our house ever. In a way I think it was good, because as I said, he was a real gentleman, and he was able to leave this world with dignity still. At the rate that he was deteriorating, I think if he lasted another month we would have been surprised. The way I personally see it is that if their quality of life is not what a dog's life is supposed to be like, then it would be time to make the decision. Ie, they're in pain, they're suffering, they can't walk anymore. Cleopatra sounds like a really special companion. Strongs to both you and her.
  18. That being said, I would love to get another rottie, but with my work schedule I just don't have the time to spend with them. I'll look for pics and post them later of my rottie that I had, Roxie.
  19. I've grown up with rotties, my Dad used to train them for show. I don't like how people use them for dog fights, because they're really very loving. The last few rotties that we've had as a family were all rescues and when they first come to us, they're real bastards because how the people that had them before treated them, but within a couple of months they're the most chilled out dogs, you would never say it was the same dog, but it's just because they're treated with love.
  20. And a pic from yesterday, she was sitting in her chair and Drake decided to join her...
  21. Here's my brother's rottie Drake my my niece. Apparently she just loves him and laughs every time he gets close to her. He's also very protective of her and more often than not sleeps in her room.
