  1. Rode every day, rain or shine from about std 1 - until std 8. The alternative was to walk, my parents didn't care to drop me off, so was up to me to get to and from school. I had a pink girls road bike in the beginning, and then got my Mom's old Hansom when I was in std 4.
  2. Hectic! But very inspiring!
  3. Went to the presentation last night, was very informative and enjoyed it. He presented scientific evidence of how to fuel before during and after a race. The only time his product came up was when someone asked about which products contain a specific ratio of fructose and some other form of CHO and he mentioned 4 products: Gu, Powerbar, High 5, and Cadence. And at the end when he asked people questions, he gave some samples to those who were able to answer them.
  4. Forgot to add, I've got a couple of sets of anatomic bibs, and quite happy with them as well. Any specific reason you don't want to go that route? Just out of curiosity.
  5. I have a few pearl izumis, but they're older and they've changed their padding a since then. I prefer bibs over shorts, but still also use shorts. To start out though, maybe go the shorts route. Most important is definitely the saddle, if you have that, then the padding isn't really necessary. I prefer riding with less padding then it's not so bulky.
  6. I was in the hospital for 3 days in November - no operation - R60K+ of which MRI's were in the region of just short R20K fortunately medical aid covered it all since it was an emergency. I was actually scheduled to have those same MRI's done the next day before I landed in the ER, that would've been very painful to my pocket. Currently spending on average 4-5K a month on physios, dr's, meds, etc
  7. Unfortunately I don't have time for multiple personalities, I barely have time to deal with one sometimes. And multiple times as in, being on the hub for a few years now, there's been more than one poll that I've cast my vote in and/or just looked at the results out of curiosity
  8. You're obviously missing my point - when you're used to clicking on something multiple times you won't think twice about clicking it and not really read/comprehend if there is a change to something when as far as what you know it hasn't changed. Especially if you're like me when I go on the hub, work, take phone calls, talk to people in the office, so I'm already only giving the hub 25% of my attention at most. And if Admin made the change, then I'm going to take a wild guess I wasn't the only one dumb enough to do it.
  9. I read post #1, that was significantly different - it does not state in there that you forfeit your vote if you click view on results. Generally when you CHANGE something as drastically as putting new little things over selection buttons, for those that generally don't think twice about voting or looking at votes cast, you click on the button's location. It's a change in how any poll is presented on this whole forum, you need to SPELL it out.
  10. Would you please be so kind in pointing me in the direction of where it states that? Or am I just that illiterate that I can't read and comprehend something so simple?
  11. And also, it just stated that I voted for a picture when I definitely did not. So please fix that.
  12. Definitely not liking the fact that you can't vote for all the pictures either. Was looking forward to seeing all the pics in one place and casting my vote from there.
  13. I know that eliseswanepoel is, she's got an ad in the classifieds
  14. edit: double post
  15. It looks like he's attempting a handstand
  16. Well according to some posters on this thread, it would take one to know one...
  17. invest in better photoshop skillz
  18. I see your picture was selected for today's pic. So you're saying that you're just going to sit back and hope that you may get the most votes? Or is your competitiveness going to kick in and you're going to try to garner as much support? I would think that as someone that's keen on the more extreme challenges that sports have to offer, that you're more than likely to pick the latter option. Just my 2c.
  19. Well done Grebs! I personally don't think you should change how the voting is, other than to just verify that there aren't any fake accounts created solely for the purposes of winning. As far as what I see it, the sole purpose of this competition is to promote The Hub and GoPro, and the more people you can get involved the better. So going in the direction of a panel for voting will defeat the purpose. Like all things in life, it doesn't count to just have talent, you need to work to get to the top. And those people that work to get to the top, end up getting there. You can take any competition that is running on any social media and the person that's the most popular wins, whether it being that they just have that many friends, or if they go out and promote themselves and trying to win.
