  13. The Tour of South Africa 2008 is a high profile international professional bicycle race held over eight days and will join the ranks of other great national tours such as Le Tour de France and The Tour of Britain. The race has the sanction of The South African Cycling Federation (SACF) and the International Cycling Union (UCI) which has granted it a 2.2 classification and has been designated at eight days from 16th - 23rd March 2008 with the future potential for additional stages already being discussed with the UCI. South Africa is one of the world?s top sporting nations with remarkable landscape and cultural assets; South Africa thoroughly deserves the highest calibre of race to showcase the country and its people and to demonstrate and reinforce its capacity of hosting major sporting events. As a major international sports event the Tour of South Africa is able to develop and grow in a sustainable way to benefit and involve the various communities it visits, bring real economic gain, showcase the cultural diversity and promote regions for tourism. The Tour of South Africa has great potential to achieve these objectives. SweetSpot Group Ltd http://thetour.co.za/images/general/march_2008.gif
