  1. Wow...frame looks very, very pretty. Love the paint and the Mercer logo/writing Only thing i would change is the bar tape - the Deda tape looks great but does not feel very good and does not have much padding
  2. A great ride today...wet from the start but my group rode really well (1C)...again KUDOS to all the supporters standing in the rain cheering us riders...they provided a few extra watts to get through the race! Regarding Kulula ...i booked a return trip with them...i was delayed by around 3 Hours on Friday night but they have moved me onto SAA this afternoon for my return trip to joburg. Sorry to hear their fate but happy that i was accomodated seamlessly. Well done to all the brave riders today!
  3. What part of Joburg will you be based in?
  4. thanks, i should have been clearer - i was asking about the Sat prep ride!
  5. What time does the ride start? Where exactly does it start from?
  6. Hi, do you ride road or MTB? there are a few options. I am with the Edenglen club that rides on weekends and many of their team members have weekday rides Send me a PM if you are keen.
  7. I have emailed them. It looks like there are no options but they have said that they would investigate and revert... I will revert when i hear back...but maybe good for others to email them so that they know there is interest? Also happy to collaborate with other hubbers who may be willing to rent a car to the start
  8. Great question, i too would be interested in this option...
  9. I have dealt a bit with Thomas from TVS - he has a good range of used parts (and bikes) - i have bought a few parts from him in the past - parts were always as advertised and prices were very fair... TVS is legit - but i am not sure about Kyle...perhaps try to speak to Thomas ?
  10. Many of the gps mounts that attach to the two screws will have a way to attach a go-pro mount below the gps mount...these go pro mounts allow you to attach a mount that allows a cylindrical light to be attached I have an integrated bar and got a 3d printed go pro mount to attach to the standard GPS mount and i can attach a light... i have attached a picture of the Forza mount to give you an example - you can see the go pro mount and the attachment that we can use to attach the light...
  11. Have you checked to see how many bike shops are nearby? I am in bedfordview and there are probably at least 5 biggish bike shops within a 10 -15km radius...so competition is tight...and it will be hard to attract customers if they have established relationships....
  12. It was a great day out. The weather was perfect and i had no complaints...i rode a road bike and did the long distance. Spent most of my ride keeping up with the Exxaro MTB academy boys - they had full sus MTBs with knobblies and were keeping up with the road bikes!
  13. +1 for anatomic and Decathlon Good kit for the money
  14. I have had them on two sets of rims now and both of them were tubeless. They work fine...seated easily but one of my tyres on my current wheel loses a little bit of air so i need to pump them weekly...otherwise i am happy
  15. Check out the Specialized Roubaix tyres. They come in a 30/32 width. They are mostly road biased and can handle some pavement hopping/ very light gravel. I use them on my endurance road bike and keep up with road groups...the best thing is that the tyres cost around R400, are tubeless and come with a tan wall 😬 https://www.specialized.com/za/en/roubaix-pro-2bliss-ready/p/130434?color=228172-130434&searchText=00016-2165
  16. Hi, so i think both bikes can work...in my experience the Titan bikes are great - good value for money and good quality bikes. You can definitely pick up a used bike for 2-3K...
  17. my contis have done exactly the same thing (maybe a little worse) ...also about 2000km and a year old. i have also stored my bike indoors
  18. What you described is what they normally do. They don't repair but give you a replacement unit at a discounted price. I had a good experience with them last week. I dropped off a damaged edge GPS at their Rosebank offices on Wednesday and got a brand new unit on Friday.
  19. Wanted to compliment Garmin for their support. i dropped off a damaged Edge unit on Wednesday, i got a quote yesterday and collected a brand new unit today...i had asked them to expedite as i was hoping to have the GPS for my weekend rides and they obliged! THANKS GARMIN!
  20. I live on the east rand of Joburg and have around 4 bike shops within a 10km radius (one of which is the Boksburg branch of cycle lab). i generally try to support the smaller/independent bicycle shops but find that many times my DIY attempts do not go according to plan and these are over the weekends (Sat evening or Sunday) when most bike shops are closed...except for the Cycle Lab - i have on a few occasions sought their service workshop's emergency assistance (seating a stubborn tyre, rethreading a pedal's thread etc) and in all instances they have been very friendly, able to assist quickly and have charged me a fair price I dropped my bike yesterday and bent my rear derailleur hanger and found out that all bike shops were closed this week except for the cycle lab - i took the bike in and they were able to assist me and get my bike back to 100% THANKS CYCLE LAB BOKSBURG FOR PUTTING YOUR CUSTOMERS FIRST AND THANKS ESPECIALLY TO JARED AND THE WORKSHOP TEAM!
  21. I have used a couple of hooks one gets from a hardware store...they are spaced so that the top rail (one closest to the towbar) fits onto the hooks and the rack then is packed against the wall similar to the pic from @the_nerd
  22. You can contact switchback sports to see if they have stock...
  23. You may sadly struggle to get stock locally... For tyres with a bit more off-road grip, I would go with the Panaracer Gravelkings SK. They come in a 650B X 47
  24. Try posting a wanted ad on the forum...finding groupsets is tricky but the bikehub community is great and there are lots of parts floating around. What specifically are you looking for?
  25. Or a plug...this shoudl seal the hole
