  1. There are only 200 fricken teams out there.. which one is ours?
  2. Sorry If its been mentioned somewhere. Are we doing a fantasy league, and if so, what's it called - password etc.
  3. Looks like a Blur.. ???? I still think the Tallboy is where its at.
  4. So the real question is if he will come good in the second half of the tour.. Judging from Chris's last couple of GT's, he will come in undercooked to the extent that he can just hang on and start coming into his best form for the last week, which is still 5 weeks out. This really is the only way to win a GT at his age, and even P Roglic has shown that being on fire from the gun is not the way to do it. However, as everyone has stated, who knows if that will happen.. Not knowing the route off by heart, the first week is usually a bit of a warmup and the favourites are conservative on the first climbs anyway, Stage 5 (ITT) and Stage 9 (Mountaintop finish) looks like the first stages where big time gaps could appear, barring the usual first week crashes.. and where his experience and bunch should come good. Froom should be OK for the ITT, its stage 8-9 where he will be hanging on by the skin of his teeth. Who doesn't like a good underdog - Froom Dog in this case
  5. I have bought a pair of shoes from Evans cycles in Gatwick. Their service was great. The guys knew what they were talking about and had patience although late.
  6. Interestingly enough, I had this exact chat to a renowned shop in Cape Town, that sells ebikes like hotcakes by the sounds of it. Im asking because like some on this thread, Id actually love to get more trail time, but riding 30mins to 45 minutes a week does not get you in the best of shape, so when the time is available, one can only go as far as ones fitness will allow. Batteries are the most expensive part. Not repairable. Typically has 2 yr carry over warrantee. However, app should give indication of life and not something that gives much issues. Motor, backpedal the crank and feel for roughness.. motors are repairable & serviceable and do not just "die". Services are in the 5k and upward range and warrantees are a problem( It will be voided) Controls are replaceable 1-2k I don't own one but looking at remortgaging my house
  7. Here's a link. https://joefrielsblog.com/crash-training/ Please forgive me if you're familiar with all this. It's just so good. A must for stage racing. Good luck!
  8. How is your endurance at the moment? A combination of long rides on the weekends and add lots of climbing in your training schedule will help. As you get fitter put long climbs at 2hrs on your long rides so you get use to riding tired. Joe Friel has a great book on training for stage racing. Not sure if you're familiar with it. The relevance, that climbing a lot will add a lot of fatigue while you're trying to get fit. Read up about his "crash training". It sounds intense but the essence is you plan your weeks training within a couple of blocks so that you slowly drain the energy in a meaningful way so you end your week off with culminated fatigue. That's followed by a rest day or recovery rides before you start turning on the fatigue again. Depending on your fitness you can do two or three weeks of these "build" weeks before taking a recovery week, which still includes rides but allows your body to recover. Your body then supercompensates by "over recovery" This is also called peaking. It's easy to just go out without focus and go hard every day without a cause. But building your weak with a plan..intervals then easier days then climbing then easy then longer then longest etc. Then build those weeks into a block with recovery weeks inbetween and adjust as you get stronger. Im sorry you might be well familiar with this kind of training but it's so crucial (and fascinating)that I just put it out there. It will help way more than just climbing a lot. PM me if you're not familiar with it and I'll send you some info or help set up a plan.(this fatigue will also aid weight loss) Good luck!
  9. The Jackson brothers are legends, met them at a wedding a few years back.
  10. Nice topic to get it going again. Has it been the lack of events? All I know is that after going back and forth between the new and old air spring, I've found a great pressure and I haven't touched the thing since George Enduro last year. Probably due for a service soon. No Idea what that is though since my shockpump's dial is whack. I was just getting beat up badly on long rocky (Armageddon style) descends, and dropped the pressure by around 5 PSI. It sags slightly more now in the garage sag test, but once on the trail, I find it way more comfortable with better traction and the slow speed compression actually doing its thing
  11. Such great news that some passionate corporates are getting involved and so willing to give back, regardless of exactly how they are doing it. I'd love to help on build days, I might even put in a days leave if I can plan in advance. Although there will have to be many, its still great to get involved and its a show how passionate people are about our trails.
  12. you accidentally missed the jumps at the bottom!
  13. A little upgrade for my Enduro Machine.. The Pike up front suddenly looks very BLACK
  14. Oh my ! Who is that that went OTB? He only had a proper slam! The timing of that was also pretty critical and must have made it even harder.. Not easy to send a short kicker like that at 45km/h.. will pitch you OTB in no time.
  15. I think a year like 2020 without a PPA race every other weekend might help the trailbike segment. Also, If you go to places where trails are more tech like Jonkershoek, you will see more trailbikes than XC bikes. For real, however there are only 3 or 4 trail centres like that in the WC, and perhaps 10 -15 nationally, while every other town has blown out hiking trails and dirt roads (xc bikes)
  16. Definitely one for the PB Fancy league. If it opens up momentarily so I can adapt my team! I have Loris and Greg and 4 zeros ;(
  17. The little French Maestro! I think he has been the in form rider all year and I'm so Happy for him. Pity Reece couldn't show us what he's made of because he seems in impeccable form. But Vergier has been my favorite rider the last 2 seasons for sure.
  18. Even Better! Was looking so fast!, so calculated.
  19. Will watch this after supper as pudding (hope its worth it)
  20. Ya no Idiot over here forgot to update my team. Half of my team does not seem to be at the race ;( Thats my season done.
  21. Noticing the tyres in the pinkbike Photo Epic. The Maxxis riders are mostly on DHR's or Dissectors. No Assegai's. (yet) probably to slow rolling. Definately no DHF's, probably not dry enough, or the roots?
  22. Timed training results.. Reece's confidence showing..Vergier so consistent.. very talented individual, perhaps the most raw talent out of the entire bunch, I dig the laaitie.Marine C, although there are some other bright individuals coming up, I really like her and think she may still do some damage.. 22 sec gap between 3rd and 4th? Elite Men: 1st. Loris Vergier - 2:58.839 2nd. Matt Walker +1.117 3rd. Reece Wilson +1.457 4th. Troy Brosnan +1.531 5th. Danny Hart +2.187 6th. Dakotah Norton +2.811 7th. Charlie Hatton +3.141 8th. Finn Iles +3.186 9th. Loic Bruni +3.366 10th. David Trummer +3.642 Elite Women: 1st. Marine Cabirou - 3:33.918 2nd. Monika Hrastnik +0.994 3rd. Eleonora Farina +6.339 4th. Tracey Hannah +28.522 5th.
