  1. If you are a PPA member, then they are already open. You don't have to wait until 4pm.
  2. He had major surgery on his wrist last night. He's still in ICU, but chatting away this morning on our whatsapp group, so he'll recover. Also a few broken ribs.
  3. One Day Only has Met helmets today.
  4. Bargain in the classifieds, R280 each: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/234183-3-x-garmin-ant-speed-and-cadence-sensors-gsc10/
  5. Would Navworld not offer a replacement at a good price like they do with other out of warranty units?
  6. I got my refund in October.
  7. Some Racetec timed races do get loaded on to SA Seeding. Karoo2Coast is one example. It all depends on the organisers.
  8. The start time of a substitution will depend on your seeding index and not that of the person whose entry you are taking over.
  9. This is a question from someone who was stung and the reply on the Trailseeker Facebook page: "Comment: Can the race organizers give us an update on the bees? I know of 30 of us that we're attacked by an angry swarm of bees. 4 of us were hospitalized. Seems like the landowner cleaned out the beehives on raceday as some guys saw the guys in the white bee suites. The ambulance did not have any comms. Reply: This is the gist of it: We wanted to be sure we have all the facts before we speculate on anything. The landowner was on site but he only arrived in reaction to the incident to help us manage it with our team on the ground. The guy in the beekeeping suit was actually one of the organizers going in to retrieve bikes and keeping tabs on the situation. We assure you that there was no landowner emptying any hives that caused this. We had no issues with the front groups, but we suspect the constant stream of riders or even someone taking a nature break close to the hive might have caused them reacting to the riders. Keep in mind these are permanent trails that are frequented by riders and never before have they had any issues with bees on the trails. We are really sorry you had a bad experience but we assure you this was a freak natural occurrence and was not done intentionally, accidentally or caused by negligence in any way."
  10. Phone them on the number I posted earlier. They'll sort it out quickly.
  11. If you're a PPA member that entered and haven't received an email yet, then contact them on 087 820 7223 or email info@cycletour.co.za.
  12. The 53km has only 380m of climbing, so the 30km should be less than that.
  13. That's what I thought, but this was put on their Facebook page yesterday: Want to ride the 2017 Cape Town Cycle Tour? Here's what you do: Pay your PPA membership fees ONLINE before midnight tonight (15 August). PPA members (as at midnight tonight) are guaranteed to receive an email to invite them to apply between 17 and 23 August for a 2017 Cycle Tour entry. When the applications close on 23 August, wait 24 hours to receive your confirmation of successful entry. Then follow the instructions in the email on how to proceed and pay for your entry. PS: If you do not get a notification of your successful entry after 24 hours after the 23rd, please let us know immediately so that we can follow up.
  14. From what I understand, entries for everyone open on Wednesday. The only benefit I can see from being a member is that you will know within 24 hours whether your entry is successful or not and the rest of the people will only hear on 29 August.
  15. That's the thing, I'm preparing for K2C so I thought I should do a long ride while clipped in just to get used to it. If I'd known the terrain was going to be quite like it was, I definitely would have gone with flats.
  16. This was certainly an experience for me. It was my longest MTB event ever, the previous being 47 km. It was also the first time I've worn cleats off road. Because of that, the rocky ascents and descents before the waterfall crossing were quite a challenge as I'm not fully comfortable yet being clipped in, so there was a lot of stopping and pushing. My fork is also stuffed, so I was basically riding the equivalent of a rigid. Note to self: get that sorted out very soon! Apart from my own issues, it was a fantastic ride and I'm sure I'll be back next year. The bottle of wine for entering was an absolute bonus!
  17. That 11:25 cutoff is only for the 60km. The 42km has a 1:15pm cutoff at 12km from the finish and 2pm at the finish.
  18. You can get a better idea from this: https://www.strava.com/activities/359296132
  19. The date for this event decided on a long time ago. WP Enduro should have chosen a different date e.g. 23 July when the only other event is the Spur schools league at Bloemendal.
  20. I saw the beehives, but no bees. Maybe they only got annoyed after a certain time. (I have no idea what time you went past there though.)
  21. I suffered on the 45. Also did 3:15. It didn't help that my shifter stopped working properly, so the last 15 km's I had to ride in ss mode.
  22. I see AccuWeather is predicting -1°C /14°C. Best take along some extra warm clothes.
  23. I did the 45km from C batch and didn't have any issue with congestion. There were a couple of annoyances with slower people ahead not pulling over on the uphill single track, but I just used that as my excuse to take a breather. My biggest gripe was with the upstairs area at the tasting room. The staff there were clearly not equipped to take on such a large volume of people. Other than that, it was a very nice day out. If I wasn't driving, I would definitely have stayed there longer afterwards.
  24. And now it seems substitutions are available.
