  1. For how much is each bike insured? I am assuming its a MTB and Road Bike?
  2. http://www.gumtree.co.za/cp-beds-in-wynberg/1-2-of-a-bed-make-me-an-offer-512980267
  3. I have a theory If you insure 2 bikes it should be cheaper.... I mean if I have 1 bike it is easy to steal. Have you ever tried to move 2 bikes locked together let alone 3??
  4. In Bloem some people also cycle on the N1 (nie die verby pad nie let wel - eers as jy verby maselspoort gaan oppad tol hek toe) so some insurers have apparently refrained from paying claims due to "illegal" cycling practices. Wonder what life cover will do in the same circumstances... PS:- Keep that "eccentric" fellow away from this thread plz
  5. Just make a 100% sure of that. I got conflicting feedback regarding this. Some brokers say no one covers a road bike in racing events. Others say the LBS now does insurance.
  6. I already signed a R150 debit order for the SPCA. So I am still R100 short
  7. Yep they are going with!
  8. TT is one of the safest sports in or outside racing. You have to crash. Anyways whats the purpose of insurance if it is only partially insured?
  9. Exactly my point. It is expensive bit not fully covered. Fair not to cover road bikes in races due to bunches etc but TT and MTB? Stupid if you ask me...
  10. Yes.... Am I in der Scheiße??
  11. I met a German guy at Tri Abu Dhabi (fellow athlete ). We made an arrangement. He is staying with me for IM PE and then I will stay with him at Roth. Actually he lives in Cologne but that is close enough. Everything is sorted and hotels booked for both events. There are however some help here.... http://www.challenge-roth.com/en/praktische_infos/unterkunft.html Fortunately in Germany you are a quick train ride away from plenty of options....
  12. Ok so there is another 200 slots (final 200) up for grabs on 06 December 2013 if anyone is interested. Will be a mad scramble again so I suggest you get 10 volunteers all trying to enter for you at the same time...... So my entry is confirmed and I just bought plane tickets to Frankfurt and back via Lufthansa Airlines. We will also be staying in Paris at a hotel on the Champs Elysees the last weekend of July... Apparently there is some sort of bike race close by that weekend.....
  13. Ok you smart people. Will this fit on my B-12? Where can I get it?
  14. Or use it to put your spares in.........
  15. Ok so I decided to take my bikes off insurance. 3 x bikes (Road/TT/MTB) Each cost R150 so that's R450 per month and this does not cover them during a race. If they get stolen at home (or from a house) they are still insured. So I need to take care in terms of when I drive somewhere. Lets hope nothing happens (as the last 13 years went past uneventfully) Problem is I never really use more than one bike at a time. Sounds silly but I mean in winter I only use the MTB so I pay a big premium for the other bikes I never use. In summer I only use my TT bike and then maybe ride one or two races with my RB. So why pay the premium for the road bike when I only race with it (and it is not covered in any case). I am opening a savings account and will deposit R400 per month into this as a bicycle fund account. If only I started doing this 13 years ago..... Don't jinx me please.
  16. Be a real man and do the whole race in your speedo. Also put some growth hormone on your upper legs so that the hair grows really fast.
  17. Well a cold is still fine. If you have any of the following do not train:- 1. Fever 2. Sore limbs 3. A resting heart rate of 10 beats faster than normal
  18. Oh and on a serious note... don't take the road closure too serious. Last year a few "caravan families" forcefully made their way onto the route so I had to evade a couple of Jurgens/Sprites in the middle of the road while flying down a hill at 60km/hour.... and got pinned by the ref for blocking due to this....
  19. Also put raw eggs on your bike before the race starts. By the time you start cycling it will be cooked through and should sort out any nutrition issues you might have. At the start, make sure you have the inside lane. Its faster to walk around in a circle when on the inside.
  20. Cheese Break it down and it is not that bad. 8 hours of racing ........................... And also its not the race, it is the journey. R4,000 for Ironman sounds a lot... but divide it into the 400 hours you train to get to the start line...
  21. Maybe I will start a petition. Everyone who is upset enter both races but pitch for only one. That will definitely shows them organisers a thing!
  22. Its sooo friggin sad that this event is the same weekend as Midmar. We need more Tri races in SA and now there is two on the same day 300km apart!!! I can understand 2 races one in Joburg and Cape Town on the same weekend but this is really sad.
  23. Ok I have a stupid question. Why would someone mask whatever they have taken with another illegal substance? Rather get 2 years for thinz than 2 years for EPO or am I missing something here??
  24. Hi all So its official I am going to Roth July 2014 ADMIN:- If you look on "Alibaba.com" they sell tri suits etc at good prices and can custom design. Personally I prefer a two piece for Iron distance for obvious reasons. How about you just design an awesome hubber running vest? I prefer to do the cycle leg with a very tight top due to the TT wind resistance factor. You can do the tri suit bubber thingy for 5150 races perhaps?
