  1. Former, I have had signs removed, after they (Gautrans) have approved them and erected them for me, by their own people only a week after it was erected. It took a whole month of investigations to finally find out why it was removed and another 3 weeks to have them put up agin. It is not the fact that they take long doing things, but when things (signs) are erected illegally, they are quick to respond. BTW a sign and pole costs over R600 so I would hate to have them destroyed.
  2. I have sent numerous e-mails to the RTMC Road Traffic Management about including cyclists in there Road Safety Campaign, but have not received a reply. If you can remember when the famous singer Lebo Matoza (spelling) was killed in car accident, there were about 10 massive billboards with her on it with a slogan 'Speed Kills'. We need some of these that states "Did you know that a bicycle has the right to use the roads?" It is very frustrating dealing with these administrations and I am hoping that, with the price of fuel rising to unacceptable levels, that these administrations will start planning for cycling to become a major transport player in the future and therefore put the necessary safety plans & education in place. In the mean time, we as cyclists need to become more responsible and make ourselves more visible out there!! BE SAFE!!shaunh2008-06-03 02:04:46
  3. So relieved to hear he is OK!!!
  4. Preach it brother!!! What really gets me, is that idiots like this woman will be all up in arms about the high crime rate in SA, all the while not caring and blatantly ignoring the fact that they are criminals themselves. Makes me mad! EXACTLY, that is hitting the nail on the head!!!! It is all about respect and COMMON COURTESY!!!!shaunh2008-06-02 09:05:14

  18. Sorry Call me Crazy, I forgot to thank you too for your very Kind Gesture!!! It is simply amazing to see such kind people donating as you have done. GOD BLess You ALL!!! Although Bernard has a complete bike, I still think that all the Hubbers that can still donate parts and/or frames should do so. As you are aware, Bernard's mom does not have medical aid, so there will be a huge bill at the end of his stay, so these parts can be used to build complete bikes that can be sold or auctioned off to raise the much needed funds to pay these astronomically high bills . So, on behalf of Bernard & his Mom, I appeal to all those who can donate parts and/or frames. Both MTB & road parts can be donated. I THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR GENEROSITY & BE SAFE!!!
  19. Well done DD for your generosity!!! I am sure Barend and all the Hubbers are appreciative of this kind gesture!!!
  20. Kuifie, I suggest that, together with the race organisers, write a letter to the relevant traffic authority and together with sworn affidavits from the marshalls that were present, ask them to send him a fine or prosecute him in a court of law. This is the only way we can restore some sense of 'community' courtesy. After all. you have documented proof of his wrong doing in this photograph. shaunh2008-05-26 04:55:44
