  1. As far as i know, 10speed Dura-Ace hasnt changed since it was released, and that was around 2004 wasnt it? But if you say so, I would love to know what the difference is?

    What BB

What about the BB30 standard that a lot of the manufacturers are moving towards? (Wasnt this based on the Cannondale SI 30mm cranks?) In your opinion is it still too small to offer a long life and any increase in stiffness?

    What BB

Thanks JB, I was looking at the BB sizes the other day, when i was building up my Colnago, and wondering what they meant? Italian - 36 x 24tpi English - 1.370 x 24tpi What do the sizes mean, and is there any advantage that one would have over the other?
  4. Awesome, well done!!
  5. Thanks Edman. Ive organised with Alex to swing past his shop on my way home and pick some SRAM ones up, but if i dont come right with that, ill give yours a try.
  6. Ok cool, just found these on the CRC site. I presume thats what you are talking about? Now, does anyone know where in JHB i could find them? Is it something most LBS stock? and any idea what they retail for?
  7. Ive got a Chorus chain that is fitted to one of my bikes. Its in good condition, and shifting perfectly. Now I want to move that chain onto another bike that im building up, and then fit another slightly used Record chain onto my first bike. Both chains are the current ultra narrow chains for the 10sp groupsets. Last time we shortened a Campy chain we were nailed a few hundred bucks for a few links to rejoin the chain. That price was crazy as i could have bought an entire Shimano chain for less. So i want to know is there a way to rejoin the Campy chains without that link set, or is there a reuseable link that is available? I seem to remember JB commented on that a few days ago, but i cant find the thread? Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
  8. The finish on the carbon cranks is really nice. If you look at the diagrams in the Campy catalogues it shows them to be all Carbon, but who knows? Anyway if you look at the test results (posted on other threads) they still remain near the top, regarding stiffness and weight. I still really like the look of the DA cranks, but i must say my new ones look pretty sweet... Zaskar2008-08-28 03:22:59
  9. So the Crit is on this sunday, and hopefully it will be even beter than last year! So who all is racing? I know there will be TCS teams in the Elites and some of us riding open club. Any other hubbers that are going to be there?
  10. PM Pornstar, if he doesnt have it, he will be able to point you in the right direction.
  11. Thanks, you just reminded me I needed to call them. Must say im also very impressed with Alex's service. They did a great job on my bike, and every time i go in there, they are friendly and great to deal with.

    705 garmin

Cant really comment on that, as ive ony used in on my MTB riding the spruit, which isnt that technical, and not too long. But lots of guys use the old 305 on their MTB, and i havent heard of too many problems with that?

    705 garmin

It mounts onto the stem or the bars, but its rather large, so most people put it onto the stem. Your bars should not be a problem. Regarding the value for money, well that depends what you want it for. If its just going to be a spedometer, then no. I use mine for training, and i send the files to my coach. I use it for navigation in my car, as the 705 has routable mapping, with turn by turn directions, and ive even loaded tracks and waypoints in the Drakensburg into the unit, and used it on a hike up Organ pipes. So yes its worth it if you are going to use it for more than just a bike computer, as the unit is very capable. Its also compatible with the Powertap SL 2.4 wireless and the Quarq power meter, so its makes sence if you are wanting to train with a power meter. Oh yeah, and Avnic have excellent after sales service!! 14. You missed out on a good deal, Goose1 was selling an Easton EA 70 set (44cm bar / 100mm stem) for R750 earlier this week.
  15. Nice looking bike!!
  16. My System Six that i posted last week was built up almost totally from parts bought off hubbers... Frame - Man with no name Wheels - brett54d Groupset - 101% Saddle - EdoardoBianchi Odds and ends - Cruxpearl
  17. Ask Jules for some advice, I know he had his Record Ergo's serviced (new springs) this week at Northcliff Cycles.
  18. Doesnt look like a P3, but i do see lots of KCNC on that bike!
  19. Michelle, both Karstens and Westdene have them in stock. And since the shop logos are all over our kit, it might pay you to shop there?
  20. Ive also got a set of Shamal Ultras, and a set of Bora Ultras. Rode my Shamals for the first time this morning since February, and i must say I was really amazed at how good they are. Ive been racing with the Boras for a few months now, and I am pretty used to them, but riding the Shamals agian i think they are not far behind at all. With a decent tyre (ive got GP4000s) on the Shamal, those wheels are very fast. The Boras go to a higher pressure, and you can feel the difference in the ride (11 Bar as apposed to 8) but is not that significant. Its not like the one wheel is way faster than the other, you just feel the road vibrations a bit more through the Bora. On the climbs the wheels are pretty much equal, as the weight difference is probably less than 100g. Where i do prefer the Shamals is on the decents, and in the wet, as the braking on the carbon surface is just no where near that of the Shamal. I feel a lot more confident on the Shamals in the rain! In the sprints i prefer the Bora, firstly the sound that they make when you stand is really cool, and the fact that they have the 50mm deep rim which is very stiff. No visable rub on my brake blocks, even when im flat out. And the aero advantage is great, the wheel just feels faster than the Shamal when you hammer it! One thing i noticed immidiatly when i got the Boras was how easy it was to jump across a few meters to a break, as the wheel feels like it accelerates instantly to your pedal input. As Spidy said, in the bunch you wont feel any difference between the two. With both you will easily be able to cruise at 40-45km/h, and be able to follow the attacks. The Shamal is a nice wheel, much nicer than my old Ksyrium SL's, and almost as good as the Bora. But honestly i dont think the advantages of the Bora justifies the price difference between the two. Both wheels have their pros and cons, but if i had to choose i would rather ride a wheel where i dont have to stress about punctures all the time, (the inconvinience and the cost of replacing a tubby) and also get the superior braking performance from the alu rim. If i had a choice and could only choose one, i would go for the Shamal, and then spend the spare R10k on other stuff to lighten my bike. Maybe some Zero Gravity calipers, or some really light bars, stem, saddle etc. And if i was buying now, i would also wait, as im quite interested to see how the tubeless Corimas perform in the long term. I think those may be the way forward! Hope that helps!
  21. but you can put an SRM or Quark onto your crankset!
  22. I know of a pair of the older Boras (not the Ultra's) going for R12000 if you are interested.
  23. Depends what that price is? At full retail they are almost R30k, so in that case i would say no, go for the Lightweights. But if you an get them in good nick at a price under R20k, i would say yes. They are amazing wheels to ride, and they make any bike look fast!
  24. You guys can add Amateur and myself in under TCS participation. Sounds like it will be a lot of fun. Anyone want to ride with me to the start and back home again? Im out in Randburg, and will most probably ride there along Witkoppen, to Kyalami, then onto Midrand. Can meet anyone along the way...
  25. Ha ha, like para said, i do also have a Scott, and it gets ridden about twice as much as this bike. I love my Scott, and I train on it daily! And my nick can stay, i still love my Zaskar and ride it as much as i can!
