  3. Team presentation was lastnight, on SS. All in french though with Arnie and Owen providing local commentary. I lasted about six minutes before i got bored and changed channel.
  4. I wish! Found the pics this morning while reserching Colnago Frames. I think the dude wanted 680 pounds for it!
  5. How cool is this toolkit??
  6. Will the new Super Record also have the stiffer shifting like the the current RED Record Ergopower shifters?
  7. Hey, Happy Birthday Michelle!! Hope you have a wonderful day, and wish you all the best for the future!
  8. I wouldnt mind a nice easy ride with some hubbers, but its a little far and a little early for a sat morning! But ill speak to amateur later and see what she says...
  9. This is the third time ive heard of this happening! Just got to be so careful and alert!!! Funny thing is why did he need your ID number? If its a cash transaction then its just a simple swap, the cash for the goods? Obviously just a tactic to divert your attention from the phone! Similar thing happened to me once in the UK. Was drawing 200 pounds out the ATM, and as the money comes out, i get tapped on the shoulder and a guy says i dropped 10 pounds! Sure enough there is a ten pound note between my legs, but i know for sure its not mine as i had no cash on me! I didnt move at all, just took my cash and said it wasnt mine. As this was happening i remembered a story i heard about a scam where two guys work together, and as you get distracted and pick the note off the floor the other guys moves in and takes your money from the machine! Pretty simple and i guess effective, but i was just lucky that i knew ithe note was not mine and that i remembered the story at that exact moment! Moral of your story though, sell your phone on the hub! If its for bike upgrades, it cycling related, and is justified!
  10. Like it is there, I would say R70,000 minimum!
  11. This gets my vote every time...

  14. Why not try Conti Gatorskin tubbies? I see they are R457 each @ CWC!
  15. I had one of these in 2002 when i lived in the UK. Was a great fork, but weighed a ton (close to 5kg i think!) Also not having a brace above the tyre made it really flexy, which was something you could feel under heavy braking or cornering. It was a great looking fork, but they have stopped making them, as these days there are single crown forks that offer nearly as much travel.
  16. Not so sure if i like that maverick fork, but the rest of the bike looks really good!
  17. 6:30am - We have normally finished our morning ride by then and are siting in Fournos having a hot coffee and a croissant! I think thats the key to winter riding - to have something to motivate you to get out of bed. If it was just to ride, i would never get up, but the 4am wake up isnt that bad if i know that IanJ, Jules, Bored Girl, Epoh, Sonic Thug, Jeremy etc will all be there as well. And the reward of a hot coffee afterwards usually is the deciding factor. Get yourself some decent clothing, some good lights, a few mates and a bit of motivation, and you will be fine to ride through winter!
  18. This picture was debated to death here on the hub last week, but anyway according to the articles i saw it was in Mexico.... http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/06/02/mexico.bikers.ap/index.html?iref=mpstoryview http://texastailwind.wordpress.com/2008/06/03/161/ "You never think that a car is going to plow into the middle of the peloton, but that is exactly what happened at a race in Monterrey, Mexico this weekend" "Authorities said the wreck happened 15 minutes into the 34-kilometer (21 mile) race Sunday along a highway between Playa Bagdad and Matamoros, across from Brownsville, Texas."
  19. Have a read through this topic... https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=24413 as this kind of question comes up quite often. If its any help i ride my campag wheels with campag clusters on shimano groupsets all the time. never had any problems at all. But ive never ridden a shimano cassette on a campag group so i dodnt know, but from what you say above it should be fine.
  20. Ive bought and sold tons of stuff here on the hub. Not once have i had a bad experience, as generally they were always cash transactions. Goods were always as described on the post, and as yet i haven?t had a problem with anything ive bought. Everyone ive dealt with has been great.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Some of the hubbers who ive sold goods too: Wheeler - Shimano 540 MTB Wheelset Big Ben - 105 Pedals Dirt Rider - Various MTB parts Joe Low - Dura Ace Pedals Chucky - Oakley Radars <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Alliance - Cannondale Six 13 Bdduplessis - Zipp 404's Carnac - Oakley E Wires And the hubbers ive bought from: 101% - Zipp 404's MWNN - Cannondale System Six Frame Mud Dee - Campag Scirroco Wheelset Grey Owl - Time RXE Pedals 101% - Campag Chorus Groupset Swift - Fizik Arione Saddle Martlypypie - Oakley Racing Jackets Noembus - Campag Cassette EdoardoBianchi - San Marco Aspide Carbon Saddle Pantani - World Champ Jersey 101% - Zero Gravity Brakes Aspen - Ksyrium SL Wheelset I'm sure there are a few more that I can?t remember, but in every case there was never a problem. Its simple, just discuss the payment and agree on it before you part with the goods. If its an IFT, make sure the money is in your account before you release the goods. Both my complete bike and my Zipps were sold this way, and in each case the buyers had no problem releasing the cash before they got the goods. If the buyer is genuine, and has seen what he is getting I don?t think there will be a problem.
  21. The price of petrol is regulated, so how the hell not buying from one supplier is going to start a price war is beyond me?? Do they even know what goes into making up the fuel price? Also what about the hundreds of Caltex dealers that are trying to make a living out of selling fuel? If you stop buying the fuel, you will but thousands of sites out of business! Not exactly a move in the right direction. Have a look below, and you can see how the price of fuel is made up. The main component is the price of oil, and then the other government levies etc. The regulated 39.5c per liter the oil companies make is hardly a factor, and if you stop buying your fuel from Caltex, then Sasol or Shell or Engen will just be making the money! 22. Thats terrible news! Wishing you all the best, and hope you make a quick recovery.
  23. was looking for a pic on my bike i used to ride in London when i came across this one... I took it at the Yeti stand at the 2003 Bike Show at the NEC in Birmingham. I think even back then it had been retired and was in the Yeti museum, but it still looked great! Check out that chainring, the HED rims and the studded ice tires!
  24. I think it would be feaseble in the Rivonia / Sandton / Illovo / Melrose Arch and Rosebank Areas, but not in the CBD.
  25. I was two streets up, in Whitney Road! Didn't the 48 go up HOE Street? You must have gone for a kebab along that stretch at least once??
