  4. http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02769/andrewcritchlow-60_2769386j.jpg By Andrew Critchlow 9:10AM BST 04 Sep 2014 Follow http://www.telegraph.co.uk/template/ver1-0/i/share/comments.gif14 Comments So it's now official. Cycling is the new golf when it comes to getting a promotion in the workplace. New research of over 2,500 cyclists and 100 employers carried out for Cyclescheme.co.uk has found that workers who commute by bike are more productive, more focussed and even feel more likely to get promoted than their colleagues. 82pc of those surveyed said they felt less stressed after cycling to or from work, while over half said commuting by bike made them feel more productive. Benefits were also seen by employers, with 63pc saying initiatives to get people on their bikes were improving their business. The release of the survey coincides with Cycle to Work Day, an initiative established two years ago to encourage more people to commute and take up cycling as a recreational activity.
  5. MORGAN HILL, Calif.,– Specialized Bicycles has been lucky to serve the greater cycling community by striving to produce products that and inspire to improve riders lives for 40 years. In the year of our 40th anniversary we simply want to say ‘thank you’ to the riders and give back to one of the best bicycle charities, World Bicycle Relief(WBR). To celebrate, we are revisiting the Steel Allez and sending 100 percent of the proceeds to the WBR. Working with Mark DiNucci, one of our original frame builders at Specialized whose bikes still win global recognition and awards, we wanted to rethink the steel frame from the ground up. The Allez is one of the bikes that started it all for us and in 1981 and stood for the best technology a rider could get. It was part of the very foundation of all of the bikes we have built since. For this ONE-TIME-ONLY run of 74 Frames, every tube, lug, and braze-on has been examined through fresh eyes. “Every lesson we have learned over the last 40 years has been applied to create a totally new and totally modern steel frame” said Bryant Bainbridge, R&D manager for Specialized in the 80s, “Keeping with the 40th theme, we will build the 40th Anniversary Allez in the very factory that created the first Stumpjumper, a factory that continues to produce some of the finest handmade bikes in the world.” To sell the frame set, we have also partnered with Ebay’s Giving Works. This division of Ebay has one of the largest global reaches of any charitable organization and works with the trusted on-line payment solution, Paypal. Through the use of these tools, we will be able to ensure all proceeds go directly to supporting the fantastic work of WBR. This is not a commercial product and once the 74 frames have been sold we will not ever produce them again. Once a rider completes payment for the frame, it will be shipped in its presentation box to the Specialized Dealer of their choice and not opened until it reaches the owner’s hands. Auction starts September 8th - www.ebay.com/40thanniversaryallez The auction starts next Monday, Sept 8th on Ebay. Link is currently dead, but check back to place your bid.

  18. 7 hour cut off is ample. I did my first one 5 years ago with minimal training. did a 5:30 .. still dont train much and i manged a 4:30 .... Next year my 12 year old son want to do his first..... (so i better start training or i will eat his dust .....lol) enjoy the experience. 30 000 + like minded peopel and just about the same amount of supporters... no other ride like it. Supporters line the route from start to finish..... Once you on Cape Town ... check with the Hubbers for when they will be doing the route and you can join them or just ride the route the week before. ... Usually the Saturday and Sunday before just about ALL of the 30 000 cyclist do the route.... lol( okay Maybe not all but most (me included)...
  19. Yep nic atmostphere at the finish..... i think i spent about an hour there (unlike Oceans 20 min at the hospitality tent then home) Its 11 May ( on Mothers Day)..... Yep i know the route. did it 2 years ago.... first 10 is only hills....... Will see how the ankle heal over the next week or so and decide on the day...... UCT is unfortunatly out for me. Dont think my wife will be to happy if i go run again with the injury ....lol
  20. HI. Tough... 2:47 for me.... (better than last year . 2 : 50 and i had no injuries ) Was nurturing a sprained ankle …… Almost at that magical 2h well done .....
