  1. now we know why you guys make such an effort of going every year
  2. so basically as long as both are 10sp cassettes you'll be fine, from what I understand unless I'm talking nonsense? anyone?
  3. I'm sure it should't be a problem, the cheaper one will just be heavier. Just a note though if one of the cassettes is worn badly it will cause the chain to stretch and wear down the other cassette when you swop wheels.
  4. wow that is not cool. I wonder if it was someone trying to be malicious or funny, or if it was maybe an attempt by bike jackers to get a cyclist to fall off before steeling a bike, but got bored and buggered off
  5. Well in terms of cut off, you guys must decide how long you want to be at the start venue? so maybe make it 30-45 min before you want to start packing up the route? maybe the red or yellow indicated on the map to shorten the second lap? I dont know what roads or trails run there? or possibly at the water point at the top of the big climb by the cement road? if there is a shorter route back to the venue from there? because then it will be mainly downhill from there. but like I said earlier the route and race was brilliant, I really dont have anything to complain about, Is most definitely one of my favorite races to do
  6. dont worry my legs felt like jelly at the finish, the wind really broke me especially when going into it well I see results are up http://www.spectrumsport.co.za/ViewResults/2012MountainBiking.aspx my first top 10 finish all be it only the 35 lol
  7. quick question clive, I see that waterpoint has closed down??? where will you guys be posting the results of this weekends passed race?
  8. Just wanna say well done to Clive and his team, the race on saturday was awsum. I did the 70km, and normally don't enjoy lap races because after the first one I'm normally so poked that the second lap is living hell, But this one had awsum track so really didn't mind doing it twice, the marking was good in my opinion, just a pity the sponsored water-point packed up early. luckily they were only starting when I went passed, but then again one cant really expect marshals and volunteers to stand there all day. Maybe a recommendation for future races could be to have a cut off at a certain point on the second lap, where people can be sent an alternate route back to the finish and their numbers recorded?
  9. yip, it was as cold as hell out there today, and the wind didnt help either, even on the flats and slight down gradients it felt like one was riding uphill, but then again when riding with the wind one flew easy to maintain 35/40 average
  10. thank you for the reply that's the kind of info I'm looking for so guessing you wouldn't recommend them for a 6ft 83kg person then?
  11. the SLX brakes are other brakes I'm also looking at, and have also heard good things about them, but need to think about it and see if I can stretch my budget a little.
  12. I've heard the elixir's can also be high maintenance sometimes? and sometime under-perform especially if not bleed properly?
  13. thanks 2Nutz, ja I read all of the CRC reviews and some people loved them, some hated them. was hoping that someone here on the all knowing hub had tried them out, as I'm REALLY tempted to get myself a pair, the magura Louise bat brakes that I have have just been giving me continuous problems, from leaking hoses, to now a cracked front caliper which I'm now going to use as an excuse to get myself something else
  14. ja they do, and they come in all sorts of different colors, but bling factor aside I want to know how well they work as brakes lol
  15. Has anyone here on hub bought or tried any of these disc brakes from clarks? I've been reading mixed reviews on the internet, am wanting to use them or XC and marathon riding? anyone out there with any comments? http://www.clarkscycles.com/index.php/html/product/pagetype/aftermarket/id/Skeletal-limited-edition-blue-2-piston-hydraulic-disc-brake-system http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=47542 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=69601
  16. route is looking good, really looking forward to saturday
  17. the two profiles I see above for the 35 and 70 look exactly the same, but looking at the altitude profile I see the 70 repeats the big hill twice. so guessing a double lap then if thats the profile to go by.
  18. ok cool, so its 70km, but it still doesn't say if its a single or double lap?
  19. so what was the final verdict in the end is the long route 60 or 70km and is it a single or double lap race? and I hope the weather turns for the better, have entered the long route already so will be there wind, rain or snow
  20. try phoning solomons woodmead? http://www.solomonsonline.co.za/index.php?main_page=contact_us&zenid=c8ac834b47457d7e2270ccccab427d38 I know solomons pretoria normally keeps all sorts of funny little bearings bike related
  21. its the freewheel that makes the difference, you'd probably have to go with another brand of hub and have the wheel rebuilt if your wanting a louder ratchet sound
  22. well it almost matches the car in behind it lol
  23. Thanks Grumpy and milky, I always assumed once it reflected as a credit in your account it was all A for away, but now I know better, and will clear it with the bank in future regarding larger quantities of money
  24. I think you want to
  25. excuse my ignorance, but how does this scam work so that I know to watch out for myself. from what I understand the buyer deposits a fake cheque or cheque destined to bounce into your account, so from there what does one see? does the money reflect on your statement but not available for use? or does it not reflect at all and the bank phones you up to say its bounced a few days later, or does it reflect then suddenly the cheque bonces and money withdrawn from your account?
