  1. i was just looking that up now, with the cost of driving there to fetch it and driving back plus paying to rent will probably cost me more then money lost reselling the saddle if it doesnt work I was just taking a chance that someone here on hub maybe had one on a MTB and does road mainly so wouldnt possibly mind lending it for a day or two
  2. oh and i hope i've posted this in the right section, If not admin please could you move it for me
  3. Is there anyone in the pretoria area that would possibly be willing to lend me one of these for 2 or 3 days? have tried all the bike shops for a test saddle but none of them have, and can only help sometime in march. I would be more then willing to pay a rental fee? Im looking for a 143 width, went for a BG fit yesterday and was told my saddle is too narrow and thats most likely leading to my back pain. so before splashing R1000 on a saddle would like to try it to see if it will work for me or if i need to look at the selle's or other brands
  4. perfect, thanks for the info Johan
  5. Does anybody know who the selle italia distributors in south africa are?
  6. well i see the final results are out for those interested http://www.stillwatersports.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=60&Itemid=977
  7. well done to all those who finished today was quite a muddy one, must say though being my first triathlon dont quite enjoy the swim with everyone trying to drown one another, still managed a good time though (in terms of my goals) s happy with that and well done to the organizers, route markings were good and marshals and water points were top notch. one negative though was that some wan.ker stole my bike computer off my bike while I went into the breakfast zone quick and the bike was still on the car, hope your conscience gets you, such a beautiful event doesn't need people like you

    New Tires

I've got mixxis crosmark at the back and schwalbe rocket ron on the front, am pleasantly surprised with the grip on the mixxis. But the tire is now almost worn out and will be swaping it with a shwalbe racing ralph. combo's that I've heard of are Scwalbe rocket ron (front)/ Racing ralph (back) mixxis, monorail (front)/ crossmark (back) conti, mountain king (front), race king (back)
  9. I'm also going to be there only doing the half through, I dont want there to be a news article in the news the following day about some yuppie the drowned lol
  10. you have just opened a totally different can of worms with that comment lol
  11. ok calm down i'm not trying to cause a barney, just making assumptions on what you have told us you should let us as the listener know as much as possible then before complaining. like said mountain, does the farmers land encompass the entire mountain? are there other routes on getting there? i'm just thinking from the farmers perspective, if some twat started giving me stick, when passing through MY land, i would definitely tell him where to go stick it quite frankly, if its a D road that the guy was on and the farmer owned the land on both sides, and felt that it belonged to him then different story. I dont know each to their own i guess, i'm just saying that if it was my land and some stranger was on it i wouldnt be too happy regardless of reason.
  12. i dont know that's a bit of a tough one, because if the farmer owns the land then, i dont see any reason why he cant tell someone to bugger off and get off his land. it would be the same as me saying that i have the right to walk through your yard at home to get to the neighbors house or the street behind your house?
  13. Just be a little careful when doing this, as i had the BBB pads, and the back of the pad had little holes in the metal bit where the pad stuck through a little bit for attachement and the grease seeped through and contaminated the pad had to then sand and burn the back of the pad to de-contaminate
  14. have got the same brakes and what a pain lol, both front and back squeel like a pig being skinned alive. what i find is that its generally due to contamination what works for me is i sand the pads just a little so that the black crud comes off then grip them with a pair of pliers and burn the back of the pad with a lighter till they stop smoking and spray some "white lightning brake and chain cleaner" onto the pads and put a spark to it to burn off (watch out the stuff is super flammable) and give the rotors a wipe as well. generally that sorts it for me
  15. well all i can remember is learning how to turn without the stabilizers. was on a crash course with my gran's car and it was either turn and possibly turn and fall or crash and have one hell of a sore backside as a result lol. unless i was just a bit of a spaz only riding straight lines initially when the wheels came off
  16.   reading this i'm tempted to drop a copy of your post off at a few bike shops i know, not all but quite a few
  17. well ive been using joes. and that's about R140 a 500ml bottle. plus i'd like to try it more as a out of interest thing, then a money saving thing
  18. anyone?
  19. I know this has been discussed in various other threads, but searching cant seem to find specific threads on the topic, just threads about people complaining about the price of sealant then people giving formula's that they use as a cheaper alternative. I'm thinking of giving it a shot at making my own, anyone got mixtures that they have used with success.
  20. well its good to hear your back on the bike and i'm sure the legs will learn to love the pain again very soon
  21. are you sure the magnet isn't touching the sensor?
  22. the only down side to this unit seems to be that is doesnt read heart rate or cadence, otherwise it does look very tempting, unless i've missed somewhere that one can buy these sensors?
  23. what about the merida 96 carbon XT http://www.merida-bikes.com/en_int/bike/2012/18/Full+Suspension/Ninety-Six+CF+XT-D i see they are going for R22,900 at cycle factory http://www.cyclefactory.co.za/bicycles/new-bicycles-from-cycle-factory.html unless your wanting to go the 29er route then the giant i'm guessing might be your best bet.
  24. quite a few (not saying all) people, have no shame now days i mean it makes me think of the old couple that was working for my folks, they were fired due to stealing and to top it off, when they left they took all the garden equipment, the satellite dish etc with them the belonged to my parents at the property that they let them stay in for free etc, and the cherry on the cake was that they sold the stuff on the street corner and told the people to come back the next day and get the change from the business from which they had been fired seriously what the hell. and problems like this seem to be occurring more and more. with people lying, stealing and cheating.
  25. WOW that is hectic, pretty clever of the thief, but still not cool, hope you guys manage to catch this guy.
