    Fork Oil

Thanks will Give the Midas shops in the area a call and see if they stock it I've tried the pretoria north branch only have the 5wt motorex, but am looking for 10w for like you said my fox fork. and thank for the heads up on the volumes, have serviced my fork numerous times already, but still appreciate the thought. Anyone else out there maybe know of a specific bike shop that stocks 10wt fork oil, before I order some through solomons, I just dont feel like waiting thus asking for alternatives lol.

    Fork Oil

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone from Pretoria can help me out here, I'm looking for a bike shop or other, that sells suspension or fork oil. I've tried a few bike shops here in Pretoria North, and they either just sell kit and have no idea what i'm talking about or dont sell it? So if anyone knows of a bike shop in the Pretoria North preferably or Pretoria that services motorbike forks and would be willing to sell me some, I'd really appreciate it
  6. I'm also wanting to know, am wanting to get kit made for our club and at that price it would be great for us as students unless thats before duties, because I got quoted $34 for bib plus top which is about R272 but with duties it will go up to R460
  7. well it wont be long till nature runs its course with that cyclist. I just feel sorry for the poor motorist that hits this moron
  8. does anyone know where the results will be posted, I think I heard something at the start about the USN website, but not quite sure were to look. and i found the race quite enjoyable, just found it very bumpy on my hardtail, so was a bit tender afterwards, but the single track and stuff was good in my opinion, so well done to the organizers for that.
  9. Its not too bad, theres quite a bit of climbing in the first 7 or so km then the next 15km is pretty fast flowing track, if that makes any sence, then one more say 500-600m long climb before the end. Have you done the 15 there before, If you find your doing the 15km races quite easily then give the 30km a go, or if you wanna try a longer then 15km distance I'd maybe recomend the the 35km at babba's as thats pretty fast and flat if you havent done a race longer then 15km yet
  10. thats knarly dude
  11. Ok my mistake, so it appears it is still on the market, I know one can get it for livestock use in some overseas countries? But as far as I know as a veterinary drug its pretty hard to get , but does have a use (is a B2 agonist, which causes bronchodilation and smooth muscle relaxation) so for to to be totally off the market would be silly as medically it helps with conditions like asthma . as a side note, when it was used it required a 6 day withdrawal in cattle for meat and 5 days for milk.
  12. Apparently from what we were told in lectures this year is that it is no longer on the market, as it was being abused by individuals for other uses, such as performance enhancement etc. In veterinary we used to use it for dystocia in cattle. But like many things, I'm sure there will still be some individuals and dodgy farmers that will use it or have it. Its like the aldicarb (temic or two step) which is also supposed to be off the market yet it is one of the poisons most used to kill dogs for break ins so I'd say the chance of eating a steak with it in is low, as the drug is no longer on the market (please someone correct me if I am wrong), but the chance maybe 1/100 is still there so ja. The second question is how much steak will one need to eat to attain enough of the drug to supposedly have been taking it? or fail a test?
  13. well I've got the gel, and can say one can feel there is a gel insert where your sit bones will push on the saddle, my guess would be the gel insert is between 5 and 7mm thick, the others i'm not too sure about
  14. what type of riding are you wanting to do? MTB or Road
  15. Today's event was good as usual, decided to do the 60km or should I say 45km, but in a way I'm glad it turned out shorter, as I'm definitely not as fit as I needed to be to do 60km in that mud, worst part for me was that super slippery sticky stuff just before going up and over the gravel bridge caked up so much on the wheels that I had to stop and scrape it off, because it felt like I was pulling the brakes, but enough complaining, I really enjoyed the challenge So well done to all those who organized the event , next time I'll make sure I'm fitter and get to do 60km
  16. well i have no idea if it will cause delamination? I've heard from 2 bike stores now that they've had people with joes and kenda tires delaminate? anyone know what actually causes it? but you bring up a valid point, thanks . I never thought about the whole delamination thing. hmmmm, this slime thing for other people idea, seems to be quite a finicky thing, with lots of variables and things that can go wrong, I think I'll have to go look into the delamination story and what possibly causes it.
  17. well thats why I'd like for more people to possibly test it first? to determine if it is crap or good? I've personally had results just as good as joes and better then stans (I seem to always get boogers with stans and thus flats out while riding, but thats just MY experience) so on that note, anyone out there willing to give some of this stuff a test run?
  18. oops replied on the wring quote meant to be this one
  19. WOW, I go to lectures and come back to people replying to this topic quite a bit. Let me start my reply by saying I am NO chemical engineer or chemist ,I just decided to one day take a chance with making my own slime with some of the stuff i read on the web ( have had good results so far) And i am in no way trying to bash the slime brand's that are out there etc. Yip you are right air is mainly N2 and very little CO2, from what I understand about basic chemistry when H20 and CO2 are mixed you end up with H2CO3 carbonic acid, which will cause a drop in pH, and from what I understand the liquid latex makes use of ammonia to stay liquid (please someone correct me if I'm wrong) which then leads to the latex coagulating making boogers. What effect the coldness of the CO2 gas on the slime has might also have an effect??? because when you make liquids colder it leads to them being more solid, If this has any catalytic reaction to booger formation i dont know (any chemists out there that would like to comment please?) I have no idea, the ingredients are pretty much the same as you would find in other slimes out there, if you give stans or joes a smell, one can smell there is added ammonia, what effect this has corrosively on aluminium i dont know (any metal engineers out there? that can comment) So far from what I've seen, the slime doesnt seem to be affecting my rims? but then again havent been using it for years. Sawdust could you maybe comment? well thats why I asked the question if people would be interested? everyone is entitled to their own opinion, if you compare R60 to R110 for a bottle of joes or stans then it is cheaper, but if you compare it to the above then not so much Well people will always have their own opinions an in my opinion its a good thing (excuse the pun? grammar natzi's?) Its like saying which is better BMW, Audi or Merc? one will never come to an agreement, not saying that the stuff I'm wanting to mix will be better or worse, hence i will want to have some people test it before i'd start selling if there is interest
  20. in that case I'll offer a box of red or blue smarties for what ever is on sale
  21. bombs not so good, see the reason being that the co2 causes a drop in the pH of the solution, which is basic in pH, like most sealants (which is why manufacturers dont recomend the use of bombs), the drop in pH leads to the ammonia not being so effective in keeping the slime runny resulting in boogers. and like I said I've just started using it for myself, put in the tyres end of October, and checked yesterday and was still as good as the day i put it in, and have had no problems with punctures (so far anyway), have removed acacia thorns as well as LOTS of devil thorns and seals no problem So how long it will last i dont quite know yet, thats why I said if there is interest, I'd like for a few people to ride it for a month or two, to have a broader view/ opinion if the stuff works or will just cause me to make some unhappy friends lol
  22. Hi guys while out riding the other day with random things running through my head as usual lol, I started thinking about the home made tubeless sealant I made and have been running for the last 3 months (no problems up till now, touch wood) would people out there possibly be interested in buying it? If i make like a 30L batch and put it in 500ml bottles? I'm guessing it would go for between R50 and R60 a 500ml bottle which is enough for 6-8wheels? I'm just throwing an idea out there, I dont know if there would be interest for it? if there is a bit of interest, would possibly like to have a few people running it in the area for free to see how well it works before trying to sell of course? disclaimer: This is just a random idea thrown out there
  23. can one still enter on the day?
  24. well David (guy who did the fitting) seemed to know his stuff, these guys seem to have been trained properly, what I enjoyed most about the fitting is, that everything that was done was explained nicely. So basically why they need to measure this, why this needs to be done like that, as well as they take a history to make sure they dont miss anything etc. I still have to go for the second fitting where everything gets adjusted for you on the bike etc, so will still have to wait and see what the final result is. but so far I've been very impressed
  25. Hi specializedfan PM sent Thank you :-)
