  1. that is so classic i needed that laugh lol. from now on what i'm thinking of doing. is saying "please just hold on for a second", then putting the phone down and walking away and and then seeing how long it took them to realize that i didnt want to talk to them
  2. wait wait let me guess they phoned you to tell you, you'r one of the finalists for a cherry car lol? (for which i never ever entered) my humor ran out very quickly the second time they tried to call me lol
  3. dam that is not cool well I'm just glad your boet is ok, i guess like they say a bike isn't worth a life. but still something needs to be done about this crap going on, and i'm just waiting for the day to read a news paper article stating that 2 or 3 bike jackers were shot dead, because i'm starting to hear of more and more people riding with firearms
  4. yeah i remember it, i also saw a guy fall off there shortly after joking about falling off lol which also makes me think of the first stream/ water crossing and people trying to ride though it and coming pope lol
  5. yeah i pretty much experienced what your talking about last year, I also did the 80 or should i say 85, and it was my fist race ( bailed in the single track and bent my front wheel that it was rubbing against my fork( had to do some bush mechanic'ing to fix it lol or should i say straiten it to some extent) but i managed to finish and was totally smashed at the end lol, but am glad i did it and am back to do it again this year will hopefully take a whole wack of time off this year, and not take any spills lol
  6. well I'll hold thumbs for you and if i hear about any entries up for grabs I'll let you know
  7. Dont worry GTRacing, I'm sure you'll find one closer to the time, i remember quite a few people putting theirs up for sale like 2 weeks before the race, you've just got to stay alert and snap it up quick
  8. try give solomons a shout i know the pretoria branch had stock (where i got mine) so im sure the woodmead branch should also have otherwise chat to john i know he is in joberg and has them because he does the servicing hope that helps a bit
  9. well id suggest you service it, even though your fork might still feel fine, i little bit of fine dust can be in the system, and when mixed with the oil could be slowly sandpapering away your sanction ect on the inside of the fork not vissible to the naked eye. just like the old saying goes, a stitch in time saves nine ps: learn to service it yourself, its really easy and the oil and stuff doesn't cost allot. so servicing will only cost you about R70-100 where as a LBS will charge you about R500 i guess thats if there is nothing else wrong other than a oil change and cleaning of foam rings and sanctions etc maybe contact john and do one of his courses they are really well priced here is his website http://www.yellowsaddle.co.za/
  10. if im not mistaken I think you might be able to change your entry to a longer one at registration and pay in the difference? I defently remember there being posters/pages up telling one they can change their 80 to a 35 but cant remember if one can do it the other way around?
  11. wow that profile makes it look allot worse then the one on their website lol. agteros you dont have any idea on the total meters climbed by some chance
  12. i found this on the mtbonline website i think, just copied the table cant seem to find the webpage again although it was about 2 years ago lol Comparison of Shimano and SRAM: Shimano SRAM Quality level XTR X.0 Pro: Lightest strongest most efficient XT X.9 Expert: Light, strong, durable, efficient LX X.7 Sport: Strong, durable reliable Deore X.5 Sport: Strong reliable Alivio X.4 Recreational Acera X.3 Altus Entry level
  13. WOW how is that even possible, that is some sick skill to be able to do that stuff
  14. maybe they thought bugger this guy he walks in with no appointment so we will take our time so took 30 instead of 20min LOL, but being cwc with such super service they couldnt be ridiculous and take normal bike store time which would be about a month at my guess (if your lucky that is)
  15. If your just going to be using it on the bike then maybe take a look at these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=17274 they are the delphi bike computers, been using mine for over a year now and am very happy with it, plus it comes with a lifetime guarantee, my cadence sensor started playing up a year later, sent it back and got a whole brand new computer otherwise if your wanting one of the watches just for heart rate, and not the bicycle functions take a look here https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/1421-heart-rate-monitors-now-70-off/ i dont know anything about the watches but i'm sure if you ask around someone will have bought and tried one hope that helps a bit
  16. had exactly the same problem after going over a ice big piece of broke glass, sewing it doesnt work as its the surface that is in contact with the groud as you ride so just wears away the stitching really quick only thing you ca do is patch it from the inside using a nice big car patch and use some super glue in the slit to try keep the edges together (just make sure you get all the sealant off the inside of the tire where you want to put the patch otherwise it wont work and just leak)
  17. how about adding the option I do it myself for those of us who service our own forks
  18. LOL sorry i have to laugh, had exactly the same thing happen with me, and a rocket ron performance tire, as in your case i also pumped it up pretty hard then heard the most spectacular BANG, and instantly had my small rez rooms roof and curtains redecorated with joes as well as my hair and face (does not wash out of hair easy) lol needless to say the tire needed to be chucked. so what i've now learnt is use lots of soapy water to get it to seat easier and once its seated dont keep inflating it lol
  19. maybe what was being implied, is that the Local bottle store (LBS) is the A list place as one can get your beers there then go home and do the service yourself, and not have to put up with potential bad service from a bike shop mechanic
  20. I must say it looks pretty nice to me, but do admit the whole car manufacturer linking up to make a bike is a bit cliche, but then again i guess somewhere someone is going to make quite a bit of money form these bikes lol
  21. man those are some SERIOUS lamb chops
  22. have you maybe considered the Crossmarks at the back and monorail up front, they seem to be a pretty popular combo, i personally am very impressed with the crossmark at the back, but havent had chance to try the monorail, take a look on CWC they seem to be running a really good special on the crossmarks heres the link http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/maxxis-crossmark-ust-tyre and the combo even better http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/2-x-maxxis-crossmark-stans-940ml-combo and those rims you have can be run tubeless you just need to get a conversion kit either stans or joes
  23. ok cool thanks for the replies guys , basically boils down to, that one has to use the LBS this time round and see what works/fits and what doesn't...
  24. I'm guessing quite a few people out there have the shimano XT M770 chainset, what I'm wanting to know are there other chainrings one can use on these cranks or are you limited to the shimano ones namely the big chain ring as I see mine is going to need replacing relatively soon. anyone who has had luck with other chainrings as well as comments would be appreciated.
  25. I can understand your frustration EigerSA, when you do something do it properly regardless of how major or minor the task is. and must admit the whole not calling a customer back really grates my gears, why should I have to continuously phone back for a service I am paying for. ok rant is over and feeling a little better lol
