  1. oh forgot to mention she's a merida HFS 3000d, 2008
  2. here is my black baby
  3. now that is mighty impressive, i wonder what gears he was using, because this had a little variation today in therms of rock climbs and fast farm roads. i mean after my little incident with the wire, was left with 3 gears at the back, never mind one!!!. well done jules on that result and by 7min nogal
  4. well i'm glad, because i think its dangerous, because you wont hear people behind you and can potentially cause a crash not keeping your line as someone comes past. one thing i must say i liked about babba's today was the start on the road, and not going through that water crossing thingy, where eager beavers rush to then either A- fall (making everyone get off) or B-stop and get off and walk it.
  5. yes i know they announced it on the day, but i mean could they not let us know like a few days in advance that the distance is shorter, i mean for a 28km ride, i would rather have gone to groenies and saved R100
  6. honestly could the event organizers not let people know a week before hand that the distance is going to be shortened? I mean this is the second time now, at least this time it was closer to the 35km by being 28km, but still. maybe i'm just a little ratty because i had a wire go into my derailer and cost me 10min and a top 10 finish on the 35 , but i cant be the only person not impressed by the shortening of the race?
  7. classic
  8. they should be, but for safety's sake e-mail the guys at CWC and ask them first before you order, they normally reply pretty quickly.
  9. yeah i also felt that way till, i realized they replacing with shimano XT, would almost cost the same as replacing the whole crank , and being a student went for the cheaper option, and have felt absolutely no difference in shifting( although i'm no pro. )
  10. well i've got the older cranks, and was not going to pay R800 for the big chain ring so rather bought a sram chainring at R350 from CWC, you just have to make sure your current crank and the chainrings BCD are the same. this is what i bought and works fine http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/truvativ-44t-mtb-chainring-grey but i see they are out of stock, i'm guessing the other sram rings will also work.
  11. I've got the new rudy magsters and have absolutely no problem with fogging up, and the photochromic lenses are the bomb. maybe contact ASG and see if the still running their sale on them, managed to get myself a pair at the same price of the raydons
  12. I'd love to build my own carbon frame but doubt it will happen any time soon. Am just finding this thread interesting. and who knows maybe one day i might just build my own lol
  13. Where would one find, things like the drop outs and bb shell etc if you decided to build up a frame
  14. the only thing i'm curious about is how did he remove the polystyrene from the inside of the finished frame, or was it just left there?
  15. not really, if you get injection needles, preferably as a 18 gauge, you should be able to push it to the core of the roll from the outside with a bit of force thus perforating the whole roll quickly
  16. i think i saw something on the cyclefactory website about renting bikes out www.cyclefactory.co.za dont know where abouts they are just know they are in the cpt area somewhere, as you can see i'm from pretoria up north lol
  17. what type of riding are you wanting to do Road or MTB?
  18. I'd say go with the bike that looks more appealing to you, as you will want to ride a bike that you like more then a bike you sort of like. spec wise just looking quickly they seem to be pretty similar.
  19. take a look here for a general price idea http://www.cyclefactory.co.za/bicycles/new-bicycles-from-cycle-factory.html then look up what you can get the best bang for your buck in terms of components (normally merida or silverback) and in terms of buying a bike. Chat to the guys at hotspot cycles in menlyn, at the attebury value mart shopping center i think it is. they generally have the best prices in PTA
  20. I think what the big question everyone is trying to ask or talk about in different ways is. what is the warranty/ replacement policy with regards to Rudy project helmets? do they carry a crash replacement policy and what are the cost involved with such a claim?
  21. ok maybe ASG offers a different policy to Rudy USA, as the above extract was from the .com site. best thing would be to give ASG a call and ask them Call us on: • 012 751 4131 • 012 751 4135 • 012 751 4130 • 012 751 4132 • 012 751 4133 • 012 751 4134 Email: info@asgsport.co.za Address: 116b Glen Avenue Willow Glen Pretoria South Africa let us know what they say after you've given them a shout.
  22. As far as i know Giro and Bell do crash warranties. others only do workmanship defect warranties, so basically it boils down to fine print.
  23. well looking at the rudyproject website with regards to warranty they state "Rudy Project helmets are warranted by Rudy Project North America for three (3) years from date of purchase against defects in materials and/or workmanship" so basically you wont have crash warranty but say the plastic covering starts to peal off the polystyrene then you'll be good for a replacement.
  24. just out of interest who do you import from? as being a student money is always a problem lol. and have been looking at these no name frames for a while. and would be interested in how much one would set me back if i were to start saving, would look at a 26" as i would just swop the components over from my current bike.
  25. What your experiencing is called brake fade. If you do a google search or a search on this site you'll find a few discussions on it. What it basically boils down to is. You either have a bit of air somewhere in your brake system, and need to have your brakes bleed to sort it. Or it could be a result of excessive heat generation from braking leading to the fade.
