  1. surly they should have a weight limit advertised then? like certain wheels have limits?
  2. ok ok my punctuation wasn't the greatest. and about the twister thingy, i have no idea what its technical term is for it, but i'm pretty sure you know what i'm talking about
  3. well when setting the limit screws what i find works for me is stand the bike upright against a wall or use a bike stand, then looking down the length of the bike from the back, with the cabble completely removed/loosened as well as the chain removed push the derailer by hand all the way that it will go in terms of the direction of your biggest cog, then adjust the limiting screw so that the top jockey wheel lines up with your biggest cogs teeth then leave the derailer to go by itself to the smallest cog and tune the other limiting screw so that the top jockey wheel aligns with your smallest cog, then with your shifter set to its looses reattach the shifter cable (ps: its a good idea to have the twister thingy on the shiter so that its halfway from all the way loose and completely tightened) once the cable is reattached play around with the fine adjustment on the shifter, to get the cable at 100% correct tension. and if you find that the changing to your biggest cog needs a quite a bit of force on the shifter to get it to click (dont push too hard, as you dont wanna break your shiter) loosen the limiting screw for the beggest cog a little so that it clicks as easily as it did before. then take your bike for a spin and make any tiny adjustments needed to get shifting 100%
  4. well i'm just guessing here, but with it cracking at the weld it would be a manufacturing default, and the fact that it has happened twice can mean that it was just bad luck that it happened to you or this could be a general weakness in the 2008 frames? will be interesting to hear if someone else has had the same problem, as i myself am 6ft and 95kg but ride a xl merida
  5. must admit i also had a good response from them sent a e-mail last night asking some questions about their sunglasses and got a reply first thing this morning.
  6. thanks for the links gummibear, about the radiants the guy said they have a polarized option i dont know if that was the photochromic or the normal lenses
  7. Has anyone herd of these sunglasses?, i ask because there was a table at babba's today with these glasses on show, and i've never heard of them and being in the market for new glasses i went to take a look, and after decided ok let me go look this brand up a little, and cant seem to find much other then their south african site which has basically bugga all on, i cant seem to find the international site and there arent any links on the S.A. site? any one know anything more? i dont wanna go and fork out R800 for glasses only to realize that they arent that great and shoud have spent a extra R300 and got something more well know. thanks Brad
  8. how much do you guys charge for a set up out of interest.
  9. take a big dump before you go for a ride? (your bike is already light)
  10. oh and maybe an idea. possibly have an e-mail news letter kinda thing that goes out say weekly, as daily some people could find annoying (unless i missed it somewhere on the site?), possible giving links to new things your adding to the site, articles reviews etc? use it dont, use it.
  11. well i can personally say i quite enjoy knowing as new articles are put up for reading etc. and like you said its not promoting your site per say, as everything is information orientated, not click this link and check out my site kinda thing, so keep up the good work, quite enjoy reading the stuff your putting up
  12. lol dito, you beat me to it
  13. i've just got one quick question for the designer, what if it rains or you do an intense ride and at the end its all swaety/wet and mushy? how is that going to protect ones head?
  14. well i dont wanna cause a stink about the topic lol because there are 2 sides to this coin and there will always be people on both sides. from the produces stand point, fakes are probably the bane of any produces life, as they put the work into designing an making the product then someone comes along copies it and sells it at a lower price without all the hassel of designing said item. then there is the side of the consumer (there has to be a market otherwise there wouldnt be fakes), the consumer generally will ask themself why pay say 400% more for a genuine item when one can pay 400% less for a nock off, and no one cant say they havent even thought about something like this even for a second when wanting to buy something with 2 option in terms of fake and real, the fact is there will always be a market for fake merchendice whether one does it because of being stingy or genuinally doesnt have the money ie: like above the dogma frame, as im betting a vast majority of people would never be able to justify buying the original, but R3000 for a nock off could possibly be afforded not saying that its right to do it, but it does feel nice to have nice things and feel like you've got something eye catching, as i'm sure 90% if not more of hubbers bikes are their pride and joys. the major problem comes in when you get a dodgy person trying to pull off selling a fake as the original. well thats my 2cents, use it dont use it what ever lol. "picks up coat and leaves"
  15. well personally i have no problem with fake merchandising as long as the seller doesn't try sell it off as a real deal at the originals market prices. i mean not everyone can afford the real deal. i mean as a student i cant exactly go and drop say R600 on a replica rugby jersey, but can quite comfortably afford a R200 robot replica, granted that i cant complain when one of the sleeves falls off etc lol, generally you get what you pay for.
  16. see 26" is better "grabs coat and leaves"
  17. well let hope they are back in the boma's for the next babba's was really wanting to compare today with some of my previous results/times to see how the training has been coming along
  18. what was up with babba's today? the 35km was only 23km, so has the route now change to the one we rode today for future races or was that just a once off event? couldnt really hear the guy on the speakers(very good improvement for the event, just needs some tweaking) would love to know how long the guys doing the 70km rode for, 50km i guess if not less?
  19. use the search function in the Tech questions, you'll get allot of results just sift through them and read some of the longer topics. makes for some good and interesting reading

  22. ok thank you for the info
  23. sorry if this has been posted but it seems non of the lionman threads has reply's on who took the photo's this year. does anyone remember who they said was taking them at the briefing thanks Brad
  24. oh and also as a preventative measure for cramps make sure you take in lots of water as dehydration can also lead to cramping of muscles, even though it does seem unlikely while swimming in a body of water that one is losing water, one in essence still is.
  25. well in terms of camps in your calf while swimming anyone who has played water sports like waterpolo etc will tell you it does happen, i'm guessing it has to do with the resistance of the water against ones foot that acts as a flipper per say and one then tenses both the calf and muscles along the front of the leg to keep it fixed to give propulsion, basically the crap would have been brought on by lactic acid and muscle fatigue. in terms of the pain experienced the following day it is probably due to a light muscle injury (most times very minor) as a cramp is a sever contraction of the muscle similar to one trying to bench press or squat too much weight. personally what i find works well if i'm battling with camps is USN cramp blocker as it helps to neutralize the lactic acid build up and alleviate stiffness the following day due to the lactic acid build up. in your case id probably say take it easy on the leg for a day and then make sure you stretch it out nicely before you exercise again, and if the pain is really bad possibly go see a doctor or physio to make sure you havent torn/ stained something as it is possible if one experiences a very severe cramp. hope that helps and please do correct me if i am wrong as i'm sure someone will if i am.
