  2. I think that is the reasoning but as a “down country” bike I think the trade off for the 34 is worth it.
  3. Beautiful bike! But I find it interesting to see the DC specced with a 120mm Fox 32 and not a 34.
  4. Omnico had a few Cannondale hardtail frames available about 18 months ago. Not sure if they are still available, the pricing was very good. I worked through Flandria cycles in Stellenbosch.
  5. X1 but only if you are using a AXS mullet configuration. Yes, you have bigger jumps in the gear spacing but you have the range and simplicity. Or if you use the new 12spd GRX x1 groupset.
  6. Hope also do one with an exposed carbon finish but I don't think you'll find one in SA easily.
  7. Option 4: Chat with the bike shop and see if they have (or can order) a new unbuilt bike with an uncut steerer. This is the route I'd go.
  8. It has been a long time coming: https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/shimano-to-recall-680000-ultegra-and-dura-ace-cranksets-due-to-crash-risk/
  9. I just saw the photo, it was sent to me from someone involved in the race and it is confirmed to be legit. So impressive! Makes what they did incredible.
  10. Congrats on the new ride. Wishing you many safe miles, she is a beaut!
  11. You can find a Pro riding most XC/Marathon bikes, I wouldn't use that as a reliable measure when looking at bikes. If the OP is looking for a bike for longer rides only being able to carry one bottle on the Top Fuel is a downside that should be mentioned. Most manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty on their frames Merida included. When considering entry-level 12-speed groupsets (Deore, SLX vs SX, NX) I would choose Shimano every time.
  12. I saw him roll into Stellenbosch last night and he was still looking fresh. Madness!
  13. And on the men's side Sofiane vs Josh Ibbett vs Benky
  14. Are they all running disc brakes, are the hubs QR or TA? Tyres will be a good start, upgrading three wheelsets even with entry level options will start adding up. Maxxis Crossmarks are known to hold up well, so perhaps they will make a good choice for a 29" commuter. Lights are a great upgrade to the overall safety especially when commuting at dawn and dusk.
  15. Hi guys, I’m looking for a conversion kit for a non boost front hub. Rapide is out of stock, any idea where I can get one locally?
  16. Stolen: Titan Cypher Comp Carbon 2021 When: 26/05/2022Where: Cape Town City Centre, Cape Town, Western CapeCsixx oval chainring, Kcnc stem, Ergon grips, the rear triangle paint is rubbed off from a plug.Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section.
  17. Thanks guys, I ride with one or two ass magic samples in my back pocket when I do long rides. As soon as there is a need for chamois cream its best to have some on hand. There is nothing worse than waiting. Clear/photochromatic glasses are also really handy to have, without them the eyes take a beating form the dust and wind during the night,
  18. It's a tricky one, it is the first time doing the race so I am not sure what to expect from the water tables in terms of nutrition. I originally wanted to shy away from using them as much as possible as I can see myself faffing around with and wasting a lot of time.
