  1. You can do it and you can get away with it. But neither myself nor most bike shops will be held responsible.
  2. Biggest issue I've found is that the syringe quickly gets clogged if the sealant has any significant fibres or fillers in.
  3. It just seems like something that should have been communicated strongly beforehand, as there are not many places to buy snacks between Simons Town and hout Bay for beginners who often ride 6-7 hours
  4. Had a great day out in the back of the bunch with family, not racing and not trying to get sub anything. Two questions: Why were the refreshment stops so poorly stocked? Weak powerade and coke? Not even bananas? Is it just my imagination but compared to 947 it seemed pretty poor, especially considering that most people in the rear bunches will stop multiple times to stock up. When did it become acceptable to ride in bunches wearing airpods? Nearly cost me a square metre of skin when someone in front of my decided to suddenly change direction despite me shouting "coming by on your right" a few times. Pass them to see them blissfully listening to music via noise cancelling earphones, completely oblivious to the world around them. Ai!
  5. I have one myself and could see it going for between R3000 and R6000 depending on spec and paint condition. Maybe on the lower side with 105.
  6. Your best bet for a really cheap gravel bike is something like a monster cross - an older mountain bike frame conversion. Alternatively, you can look for older cyclocross frames. You will really struggle to get in under R10k for a more modern disc frame, but it can be done if you are patient and willing to use cable-operated discs. My 10c is buy an old steel framed road bike and put 32 or even 35mm tyres on there, many of those frames have great clearance.
  7. In my personal experience, as a Joburger, this is more of an issue on the dry and dusty days of winter.
  8. Oh I am NOT following my own advice on this one
  9. Keep riding, in fact, ride harder than ever. Crash more than ever. If you're lucky you will achieve a point before permanent injury where your skill at crashing becomes so good that the crashes become minor, then you're bulletproof forever. The Sam Pilgrim approach.
  10. You should hope they say that...
  11. How about Gaint Anthem?
  12. Personally, if I can't ride up it with a 34 - 46 combo I probably am fine just walking, but perhaps there's riding out there gnarlier than I've encountered
  13. Don't worry, those entries are also R955. Scummy
  14. The people you are angry at are not reading the forums, I'm afraid.
  15. There were no cyclists involved, I can't stand them.
  16. That's 5 BMXes too many.
  17. My record is 5 bikes and accessories... ANY CHALLENGERS?!
  18. Nice to read this after driving 4km through Johannesburg, which is enough to see 4 people jumping red lights at major intersections, 3 people using the right lane turn as a way to get ahead of a traffic queue in the straight lane, and one poor imbecile who though that he had right of way turning right in front of 3 lanes of Sandton traffic. One can dream of better times.
  19. You don't understand, there are people on here whose job it is to complain about anything that anybody else complains about, coming down from their high horses to unseat anybody else on a high horse, because that's what people do on the internet right?
  20. It seems as though the new generation lost this feature, sadly? IMO, it looks way better than the previous attempt which was closer to something you may see cruising Bedfordview on a Friday night, arm with a full sleeve tattoo, hanging out the window, cigarette ready to be tossed into the bush.
  21. It's been a while, possibly the same bike? Many different parts. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/714532663475909/
  22. Everybody suggesting VW for a student must be keen to see it donated, quickly, to the... ahem... communal vehicle fund.
  23. I have a pair of bibs that are translucent and I was wondering whether there is some kind of recycling program or similar locallly like Rapha offers, or do these just get tossed?
  24. Unfortunately not. But I do have photos of myself and my dad riding it, going back almost 40 years
  25. Somebody tell me if my old Grant Peterson era Bridgestone is there 🥺
