  1. Yes - not getting any email notifications, and also the actual notifications on the website seem to be lagging the messages coming in .
  2. Hi Matt and team, it seems that email notifications for messages is broken, for me and friends I've asked. I tried setting them all off, then back on again, but no dice.
  3. You also get BB30 BBs from Wheels Manufacturing that thread into each other internally, making it easier to maintain if you don't have a press.
  4. For R7-10k you can get a very well-specced, lightweight 26" dual suspension bike generally. For the same price you can get a newer 29" hardtail with much lower-end components. The big difference is going to be geometry - the older bikes will generally speaking have steeper head angles and shorter wheelbases, while the newer bikes will be slack, long, low etc. I'd say the older bikes are fine for riding most of the stuff around Gauteng and are going to be lighter with parts that are cheaper to replace, but it's really dependant on exactly which bike you get.
  5. I'm mostly ill-informed but I've seen similar age models go for R2-3k. They weren't spotless like yours.
  6. Mentioning to someone's employer what the employee has been up to along with a well-timed small claims court letter has done wonders for me in the past.
  7. I definitely think the new way around is easier because it doesn't end on endless rolling hills. More of a climb, flat, climb, finish scenario which I found psychologically easier.
  8. People are free to offer whatever they want. You're free to laugh at their offers if you want. No reason to take offence. The resellers on here with their 'price not negotiable' statements crack me up. We know what you paid. Relist again next week.
  9. Don't worry, the resellers on here are very professional and thoroughly check every bike, what's what the massive markup is for!
  10. Don't do this: I won't name the shop but I took my trusty CAAD4 in to a shop in Cape Town and was told point-blank that 'we don't work on bikes older than 9 years'
  11. You can look for the Spruit groups on Facebook or check through this if you want to lose your will to do it - Like Marc mentioned there have been attacks between 1 and 2, but you can easily bypass that by just sticking to the road and going around that way, not a problem.
  12. They do feel a bit tougher despite being a very similar movement. Might have to do with balancing the weight higher up.
  13. Doing some weight training that stretches the hamstring simultaneously will also provide results - both stretch and strength related. Look at Good Mornings or Stiff-Legged Deadlifts.
  14. Looks like an OK route. There are two pretty steep sections on it - the start of Melville as well as the part where you leave Emmarentia Park. Nothing insane but enough to cause a glow in summer. I have marked the two spots where there have been attacks in the last few months. Tana Road is generally safe as there are lots of people but Rustenburg has had a few more incidents, so I'd be careful there. I think they may happen mostly further up and there aren't too many alternatives though.
  15. I could give you some advice but the link is not working at the moment.
  16. Does anybody know whether the Forerunner 645 will be getting wrist HRV? That's the one feature that's making me keen to upgrade, but I heard hints they'll be pushing it to older models.
  17. Had a quick look at Air Canada, which seems to be a fast and affordable airline for the Toronto route, and it seems like you get 2 x 32kg bags with your ticket - one of these should be fine for a bike. If not, it's 50CAD extra which seems reasonable.
  18. Compared the exact same tyre on a 19mm and a 25mm tyre this weekend, and I don't think there was even a millimetre in it. YMMV
  19. Their car insurance is stupidly expensive though. How do they calculate how many days you used the bicycle? Do you need to toggle it on and off?
  20. Which shoes are you using? The grippy rubber used by fiveten and others is amazing
  21. If you're planning on doing some proper South African dirt roads, I'd suggest taking a test spin on the bike if possible. There are significant differences in comfort between various frames / seatposts / tyres etc
  22. From what I've seen online, bikes are much more expensive that side - replacing my bikes would carry something like a 30% penalty, so personally I'm thinking of doing the extra bag at the airport thing.
  23. Hey David, I'm going to be going through the same trip to Toronto some time in the next half a year. From what I've read and heard, shipping can be very slow, and you could wait 6 months for your boxes. Another friend paid for extra baggage, 24kg per package, and I've heard that this will cover 2 bikes carefully disassembled in a cardboard box. Let me know what you find !
  24. I put my name down for the Altra newsletter and they occasionally have specials. Got a Viho pair that I've been very happy with.
  25. 30km was open when I rode this last weekend.
