  1. Pic of the day, so far: Forca Capistrello (13,5Km long bump)
  2. Another day in da souf… a little chilly, but not cold.
  3. 50 shades of pink... pink, rose, granata, magenta, blush, fuscia, flamingo, bubblegum, salmon, rosewood, hot pink
  4. indieVelo wasn't picking up any of my sensors yesterday, so I reverted to the 25Km of free time on Zwift. Then I noticed I had a free trial for 14 days, so activated it. Can't say I missed much, except that the integration from Intervals.icu -> TP2Intervals -> TP -> Zwift works seamlessly. https://forum.intervals.icu/t/tp2intervals-copy-trainingpeaks-and-trainerroad-workouts-plans-to-intervals/63375
  5. General Consensus: No-one else seems to be able to beat Pogačar. UCI: Hold my beer🍺
  6. At least with SuperSport you only have to deal with Cecil Nurse and others every now and then. For every day, RAI have had the Giro on one channel (Rai Sport), to then switch at 14:00 to RAI 2 I've had to ensure watching volleyball and target shooting for a few minutes before I realise they've switched channels. They then have some presenters going through the previous day's stage, all while the live action is rolling along (unsighted). Let them talk, while we watch the actual cycling.
  7. What happens on Fridays? askingforafriend 🤣
  8. Home of Ferrero - Alba This is where I stayed when I was there (3 weeks) - Alba hotel. EsteThe (Ice Tea) from Ferrero used to sponsor the Giro a number of years ago.
  9. It’s been like that for many years… <5 events is cheaper to not get a membership. Gauteng races have the day membership available as part of the online entry process, but requires some form of honesty.
  10. Thomas is only 45 seconds behind, not minutes. Luckily Pogačar was looking for the first stage win, “tested his legs a bit” and can relax for the next few days, otherwise it might have been minutes.
  11. Would be interesting to see how many “gamers” there are vs people who train for the sake of training (not a game). For me, the only reason to get on the trainer is to get some quality work done. I don’t race virtually, so being able to control an avatar is not required.
  12. He said he hit a hole, damaged the rim too.
  13. Like an onion... 😁
  14. It’s that time of the year… #giro
  15. Only 2 monuments… MSR and LBL. Strade Bianche isn’t a monument. MSR would have been a long, low intensity, ride before the final few full gas efforts.
  16. Vai, vai, vai Let the GT with the best scenery, and more, start.
  17. A few pedal strokes south of the bemoerde triangle…
  18. Don't you mean "my arms aren't long enough"? 🤪😆😁🤣 🤣 🤣

    The Classics

To hear the agony (in pain) is not something we hear during a race on tv. Then Wout's comment (12:00) hoping he doesn't see any more doctors as "they'll add more injuries".
  20. https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/how-to-watch-the-giro-ditalia-live-streaming/ Even my beloved Sporza is not currently planning to show it live. So SBS and RAI will be used as it's free to view providing you use a VPN.
  21. It was mentioned here that DStv isn't showing it.
  22. Venaria Reale, the start of the Giro for the second time in my living memory, is always special for me. My first of three (business) trips to Italy took me to the company's head office in Venaria, in the same street that the race starts. Columbia HTC won the Team TT that year (2011) which started in Venaria and ended in the Piazza Vittorio (largest square in Torino). Then of course, there's the Superga (just one ascent this time, compared to 2022 which had two), a symbol of the plane that crashed with Juve players on board; visible from Piazza Vittorio. But it doesn't stop there. Stage 3 passes by Alba, home to another Italian company I've worked for, and visited twice. They stay north of the river, so viewers probably won't even know it when they pass by. 2011 2024 2022 Stage 3 (Alba) Home of Ferrero (Nutella, Rocher and lot more).
  23. Is the Pope Catholic? Unless the Giro rides on the white sections, the answer is... Si
  24. For me, the Edge 530 (and newer) works seamlessly with navigation as well as integration with most 3rd party applications: Garmin Strava Intervals.icu TrainingPeaks Discovery Vitality Watt Bike at the gym indieVelo/Zwift My Kickr RidewithGPS Not forgetting some custom apps/widgets.
  25. All went well, don’t remember anything from when “the sedator” told me to breathe (deep) in and out. The guy next to me asked if they put tippex in the drip, as his memory was erased for the 20-mins while sedated. A sedative was administered, and I must say I felt like I’d slept for days… was in some la-la-land. Colon also normal, pink and clean. The two days leading up to yesterday afternoon was torture… I could never go on a hunger strike.
