  1. Juniors (18-19 years old) and older are required to apply for a licence. Youth (U17 and younger) only require a membership with CyclingSA. The statement says 14 and 17, so likely they were youth riders.

Saw this on social media somewhere: Arsenal Spurs Bayern Barcelona The only celebration they get to do, is to celebrate their player’s birthdays.
  4. 96km with one of the Lab rats’ group. Good weather, good company, good pacing.
  5. Will ride there, do the 110km and ride home. Helps me achieve my goal of completing one 161Km, or longer, ride every month for the next few years. I’m chasing the goal of doing at least 100 miles (or longer) 100 times. Only 75 rides to go (6.25 years, if I do one a month). m
  6. Coldest morning of the year, to date, for me. Some of the dusty roads of da souf. Local is lekker!

I’ve only just finished episode 4, and agree that it’s already a good season; perhaps I’ve forgotten about season 1 already. At least time it’s a little less about the football, and more about the club, people and town.

  10. How do you find your speed ability now, having spent time riding with a group, vs. riding alone?

  12. @'Dale must be happy with today's winner #cannondale #EF
  13. An easy ride through town, to reflect on life, and everything else…
  14. It would have finished at Gold Reef City, which required riding up Butcher’s hill into a head wind, after 100km in the legs. Back then it was 117Km.
  15. I was one of those crazies; like doing it for all the local events.
  16. That would have been the late 2000s and early 2010s if you're referring to Rand Water. Before it started at Rand Water, it started and finished at Gold Reef City, and also went through the reserve. Prior to that it was at a school in Kibler Park. I think the route stopped going through the reserve, for the non-elites, in 2011. I was at the race that year but didn't race (in 2011), and remember a team mate got 1st place in the women's vet category. The route would have been as follows: Some roads have changed in Walkerville (left side of the screenshot). The route your probably did in the reserve was the red (left turn after climbing from the main carpark). https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/271616964
  17. Passing the time… 2 hours goes by in a flash.
  18. It’s cryptic for: “you aren’t riding enough”.
  19. A chilly, coffee ride…
  20. My desktop doesn’t have emojis, otherwise it would have been there. 😂
  21. Italian lesson (as it is Friday). Giro d'Italia Pronounced: Gi, is pronounced like the letter of the alphabet... G; the Gi is a soft sound. Ro, is pronounced like (Luke) Rowe So think of the two Ineos riders... Gee-Rowe Then: d'Italia is made up of two words joined together because of two vowels (i & I) adjacent to each other. The small "i" in di (meaning "of") is dropped and replaced with an apostrophe. The d is lowercase, and then Italia is a country, so had the capital "I". It then becomes one word, and pronounced: di-tar-lee-ah (repeat it over, and quicker each time). It is not di Italia, as in dee e-tar-lee-ah also, there is no fancy Zzz on the G... it's a soft sound that English speaking people should know. Then you just need to add your imaginary Italian accent to make it sound authentic.
  22. Yes, it would appear that sanity has been restored.
  23. It depends where the crossover point is for “everyone” what which point the burning of carbs that fats is a 50/50 split. The bottom of zone 2 is certainly majority fats for Matt Beers, but not so much for the lesser trained person.

I would like to see West Ham score in the final minute of play to snatch a draw against City. Then of course, Arsenal are going to have to beat Everton.
