  1. Traffic was busy in places, today. Always good to find some new roads/trails that were new, to me. And then some old views.
  2. A friend once commented, “seems you like the taste of milk, not coffee”, referring to the larger-sized cup.
  3. Holiday ride 2; not quite a coffee ride.
  4. Just after sunset.
  5. Some of the Western Cape’s nature…
  6. I can see a ride to Gordon’s Bay and back to Kleinmond being planned for the 26th. Who knows, I might see a famous “phone photo” dude on the road.
  7. Yes, it will
  8. Holiday ride 1, sucking up the extra O2 in the air.
  9. Last, planned, ride in town for 2023. Holiday loading…
  10. A group (of 12) ride to the Spruit and back. Another 1077m added to the elevation goal.
  11. None of our business.
  12. Keep it easy; recover well.
  13. Chasing the vertical metres goal for 2023… another 1000+ less to do on holiday.
  14. I need to amend my previous statement about riding on my own… most of my easy weekday rides are in a group. 😁😂🤪 And lots of people wave too
  15. With only 7922m of vertical metres to go for my 2023, thought I’d cheat a bit on that virtual platform… 6918m left.
  16. Longest time in the saddle for quite some time… 5h
  17. Yes, they do sell the reducer with the BB (at least the Ultegra one did). But you will need a spanner to fit that reducer into.
  18. Post a pic of your BB.
  19. I passed a commuter on my ride, on Monday. We see each other occasionally and greet each other each time. At the next two red lights, we had the chance to chat a bit, compared to when both lights are green and we don't stop. He rides at about 20-25km/h, while I'm doing about 28-32km/h on that specific stretch of road (Ring Road East and Swartkoppies, if you know Al-berton). He rides 40km to work, and then 40Km back home, daily; He found 947 was a walk in the park; albeit slow and steady. No need to walk the hills, just ride them at his pace; He thought my time was very good, even though I thought my group position wasn't that good (perspective); He was on a PnP-special MTB with normal work gear; I was on my groad bike (mamil), hopping on and off the tar, as the dirt tracks came into view; We both enjoy riding, and don't fear being on the roads.
  20. You must be by yourself... 😊 Here's the trail of thought... Doesn't mean that if I'm pacing, I'm getting the most benefit by being in front. I could be riding too hard for my own good, but at the benefit of those following. Or, I could be riding too slow (for myself), but it's helping others. I.t.o. bunch skills, I've been fortunate to have been shown the ropes over the years, as well as be able show others what should be done. I guess that's a benefit of having a club group of regular riders, vs "strangers". Not that it stopped me crashing, and others too. Some were avoidable, others not.
  21. Not necessarily, if they are overdoing it to "show off", they're probably doing more harm than good.
  22. For those commenting on “being too slow to ride with a group”, I’m the other end of spectrum. I’m usually faster than, or at least one of the faster ones, in the group. I don’t mind pacing the group, riding in the wind, or taking a longer turn on front if others also want to assist.
  23. Running or riding? For me it’s too short to ride, or too many intersections to cross to make it longer.
  24. I wasn’t aware we could ride there. I saw another friend had been there, and asked him about it. Much easier riding it than running, when dry.
