  1. Some more on/off-roading around town; on the ParkRun course at a local horse-riding venue & stables, plus a few top 10s added to the Strava trophy cabinet, without really trying… red bikes are faster.
  2. If I ride outside, during the week, it will be alone 99.99% of the time. Mostly because I ride/train in the afternoon; it fits my life schedule. All my friends are riding very early mornings before sunrise, or before brunch (some retired folk). Also, my needs to training will require that certain training is done solo. I’ll ride in the suburbs only, mostly because help (if ever needed) is close by. But, I do enjoy riding with my club, which will be weekends and public holidays. I enjoy both solo and group rides, and it wouldn’t be as good if it was exclusively one or the other.
  3. If you want to be more happy than not, then this is definitely worth a listen, with the test to see if you're a cheerleader, poet, mad scientist or judge. Scroll down to this section to do the test.

  5. I’d have to change my pants, if that was my first time doing this. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0UFFxFujt4/?igshid=MzY1NDJmNzMyNQ==
  6. Slightly off topic… by 70 years https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0KYAWaMUw1/?igshid=MzY1NDJmNzMyNQ==
  7. Some gravel and road = GRoad. Fun on the bike 🚫training allowed
  8. A short ride in da souf; no pichas taken.
  9. Forgot to post the link, if anyone is interested. Most of the top publishers ignored her, because she was a woman. Quite sad that this type of oppression happened, but good to see them overcome it. https://podcasts.apple.com/za/podcast/empirical-cycling-podcast/id1457497693?i=1000622588607
  10. A similar cycling-related thing happened for Kathryn Bertine. She wrote a book STAND, and is discussed on the Empirical Cycling podcast. She was the woman lobbying ASO to get the Tour de France Femmes up and running. Former pro cyclist and successful lobbyist for the Tour de France Femmes, Kathryn Bertine joins the podcast to discuss her new memoir about these efforts, STAND, which details what it took, and what it cost. We discuss the writing and publishing process, activism and slacktivism, what people can do to effect change at every level, the financial structure of the TdF and sponsorships in cycling, what the Homestretch Foundation is and its purpose, an unlikely friendship with a raunchy comedian, and much more.
  11. A chilled ride around town, on/off the road as the dirt bits appeared.
  12. The paid version of RideWithGPS allows what you want, on a mobile device, except for traffic. Google Maps, Apple Maps and Waze are the traffic-enabled apps, so you can view your route on these apps to see traffic. https://support.ridewithgps.com/hc/en-us/articles/13901706641563-Better-rides-more-often-#:~:text=Turn-by-Turn%3A Navigation, cues to guide the way.

Kids photos from school are R105 per digital image, or R190 for all three. Two kids means R380 per year, excluding group photos. Prefer to take my own photos at the start of every year, and let them decide which ones they like.
  14. Freewheel screws onto the hub. Freehub is the spline assembly most new bike have.
  15. Google shows it has a Microsoft CS-G104 11-48T, so will be freehub.
  16. Most newer bikes 8-spd and up are freehub. The freewheel was used on older bikes (cassette would screw on).
  17. The Paris-Brest-Paris film was released yesterday. I know of two people that have done it, one of whom is a friend. Anyone here done it? Anyone thinking of doing it?
  18. One of those days; hot outside and a few hard efforts.
  19. For the anti-Strava’s, you could always do this… 🤪😊
  20. Knowing how tall you are, what is the wheel base dimensions on your bike? Looks like a super relaxed head tube angle

  22. Eggcellent! Almost as good as movie popcorn.
  23. In the pool within 5 minutes of getting home, then shower. Will make a coffee, and eggs on toast. By day 3 or 4 I might eat more than normal. I’ll try not sleep until bed time, and avoid doing marathon shopping time with the family.
  24. Recovery or riding?
  25. A 500-gravel would be a good challenge; but not this year... I'm going away to get away from the daily routines.
