  1. Ok heres another question. off road adventure racing - if I buy myself a pair of salomon shoes and intend running through rivers etc etc a bit like Xterra (12km's) do you wear socks ? if so anything in particular ? (just not those R140 Look socks )
  2. Take a few days off from training. Go to bed early, wake up late. Have a ginormous steak and a few beers. You will be just fine.
  3. I must admit my camelbak works just fine even on my road bike. I do however get the impression that it is not considered a done thing for roadies to be wearing camelbaks why I can only guess.

Racing Spartan was selling some german models (PM40) a week ago for R400. I bought one and am fairly happy with it. Its even water proof unlike my previous Chinese made version.
  5. In the early days I used to cycle with a cap period. Great to keep the sun out of your eyes and very comfie, makes a good sweat band as well, and if need be you can blow your nose on it if all else fails. Now of course we have a new generation of drivers on the road and everyone is very paraat so caps are no longer an option
  6. I feel unstable at the best of times
  7. Nice colours, features but I do think the price is a little steep ? perhaps these would be a good idea for iron man.
  8. R12 K for medals ? If they where nice ones I would'nt mind but cant remember the last time I got a decent medal. Think I'd prefer a cold beer
  9. Hmmm must say I enjoy the pool at VA Cresta, swimming in dark cold water on my own does not conjure up any great thoughts ... I prefer to have hot babes swimming in the lane next to me
  10. Yikes scary stuff, best go to Church and repent instead of cycling on weekends ... maybe i'll end up being sucked up in a vortex of sorts in the middle of germies lake
  11. learnt very valuable lesson yesterday doing joburg tri at Germies, "never do/try anything different on race day" sound familiar ?
  12. It was a great event, well organized. Yes the tri boys do have some expensive toys its all about the BLING . A real pity about the water, but I'll air my views about this on a different forum. Keep it real.
  13. after Xterra this should be a really nice event. no mountain climbing, no mud, no single track. really looking forward to it. nothing quite beats swimming in germies lake
  14. You must have been laughing at me Yes it was my first xterra and I really had no idea what was in store for me Swimming rivers and mountain climbing up the side of the dam wall. Next year I will buy myself a pair of salomons then I can take a dip in the river as well ! Maybe then I will be a bit faster as well
  15. I wanted to find out just how many people cycle and run without wearing socks ? I have just got myself a pair of Mavic triathlon cycling shoes and am keen on trying them out especially now that I only have 1 strap to worry about. The one thing that struck me is ok you got your fancy shoes what about the socks ?
  16. This is true. I lived in the UK for 2 years the cops there dont take nonsense. This is SA though gonna take us another 20 + years to catch up. Mind you I dont recall seeing any cops in Lewisham when I got run over on my bicycle by a red double decker bus and that was in broad daylight wearing the brightest green cycling jacket I could find
  17. Its all about staying alive !!!! Fit any light any colour, the brighter the weirder the better. No one is going to say anything. SA is like the wild west. I fitted a yellow lense to the front of my Kawasaki now the entire world sees me coming miles away. If you are worried about the cops well I would'nt I have had my drivers license for a little over 20 years and I have never once been asked for my drivers license never mind the colour of my lights. I really dont see any traffic cop in SA stopping a bicycle cause you got the wrong colour lights on. Those magic shine light s are really great.
  18. ah to hell with it i'm not gonna ruin my gear ... i'm gonna wear my lions rugby shorts
  19. once you have paid both yr roag club fee and csa the club needs to authorize membership on the csa website. once this is done everything happens in a matter of a few days. best drop the lady at ROAG an email and tell her you have registered on the CSA site.
  20. Yikes ! I'm rather hoping this is one and the same hippo that lives in and around Heritage Lake at Heia safari and that it has decided to relocate. Damn hippo makes open water swimming at Heritage a rather perilous affair. Periscopes down !
  21. Before placing your orders with CRC do a price check with CWC online store. You may just be surprised
  22. Must agree. Online store pricing is very competitive. My last 2 orders went to CWC instead of CRC. Better price much better service.
  23. i think those micro sealing particles got bored and decided to form micro astroids just dont throw them at anyone
  24. I'm not ever riding with Thumper. I would have blown a gasket long before hitting 210
  25. hit a patch of diesel on the road riding my motorcycle to work. ended up being high ended and my right elbow took one hell of a bashing. nothing broken but could not use it at all for 2 weeks after that. took about 4 weeks for swelling and bruising to clear up. my jacket fortunately has some serious armor plating on the elbow otherwise it would have broken for sure. i have never seen anyone wear knee and elbow pads riding MTB but if you are on a motorcycle best you do
