  1. Why don't they use contermans in the 60km route? Would be so much more fun going down supertubes -> cheeky corners -> happy hops corridor to Hoogekraal rather than the missing link bore fest. The only single track in the entire race is rooikat up and bloemendaaler down...
  2. Just up the intensity on the road bike, IE go faster.
  3. I've you've never done one yes, I do mine about every 3 - 6 months, super easy todo, I also just use normal grease, probably not advised but eh works for me. Shifting for me improves dramatically especially from the high to lower gears, but then I also run the tension at the highest I can get away with.
  4. I have GX setup one the old bike and Mix of shimano XT and SLX on the new one, both have their quirks but I would actually be hard pressed to say which I prefer over the other. I'm in the 'my gear should serve me, I shouldn't serve my gear' camp, so shimano wins out on price. The only thing I dislike compared to GX is the clutch and having to service it every so often if you want good shifting for shimano.
  5. This is why bikes get stolen, because there is someone else willing to buy from dubious sources but servicing and then reselling a week later, oef...
  6. Bloemendal is nice because of it's accessibility during the week, for me at least as I live near by and cycle to it and the climbs are small enough to do a couple of repeats. If it wasn't for that then yeah I'd agree. Nothing special, then again I also never got the appeal of bloemendaaler. Weekends conties is a must for me, super tubes and happy hops for days.
  7. 4 Channel ABS will beat any person in straight line braking on tarmac. On some surfaces like ice ABS is less effective than just locking up your tires.
  8. Thanks, guess I was lucky then. Will run the current setup till it goes boom and then replace everything, And keep a better eye on the chain next time
  9. To highjack this thread and rather not create another chain thread. Why do some bike shops not want to change the chain at .5 wear? I asked my LBS to replace the chain when it was in for some other work as well and when I got the bike back they said they don't recommend swapping chain and rather ride everything till it becomes a problem and replace then. So I got the tools and replaced the chain myself, previously I've also had this response from other LBS, other though swap the chain. General internet advice seems to be to swap chain as well... I understand sometimes a cassette is to far and chains skips when replaced, but with my Sram and now Shimano I haven't personally had this happen.
