  1. yeah **** it it's not worth it, I'll just be riding towards malmesbury from now on
  2. nah man, how many times you, or me and you have been dropped on the climb and made it back to the bunch shortly after. Hell last CTCT the cars were slowing me down when I was chasing back in Chappies descent to catch the bunch. Sometimes I just wish the road racing this side was just a little bit more even for everyone, no cars, no assistance, just you, your bike, whatever water you decide to start the race with, and there you go. We already have to fight against teams of 10 on our own. If people took better care of their bikes they wouldn't need a car. In all the races that I've done only once I would've needed a car after I slashed a tyre beyond repair.
  3. idk hey, I think it was Winelands race where a group of 4 (Weber, Hatherly, Hanro and no sure who else) went up the road on Bothmans, and me, JP, Chalievelo and Neil Timm chased, we didn't have cars in between. I think the cars just bring back the guys that get dropped from the peleton, not the attacks
  4. oups wrong post
  5. I rode through town this morning, something I don't do that often. Damn it was terrifying, I changed my plan of going to suikerbossie and back after a couple of cars almost parked over me. Noone stops at stop signs, noone looks in their ******* mirrors, but sure the problem is always that cyclists think they own the roads blablabla... Once again I felt cycling on the road is the most dangerous sport I've ever done, and I use to race motorbikes bar to bar at 280kph..
  6. Whenever I'm looking for something on Strava or Training peaks or Wahoo app, I can rarely quite get what I want, only Intervals.icu has the right features I'm after.
  7. They reported the accident on their social media the day it happened, pretty sure they are aware.

The more I hear about it the more I regret not going 🤣 Sounds like a gravel race more than a road
  9. P96, interesting stuff hey One road seems to go straight to vissershoek through the farm, another one goes all the way around to malans. green circle seems to be the current work being done at zone7, but looks like there a massive hub planned just a little up north from it as well, seems a bit redundant considering the melkboss hub is just a couple k up north… 🤷‍♂️
  10. Thanks, yes also a bit of a concern for thay berkshire road that at the moment is really too small to accomodate such trafic, I’m taking my kids to Rallim in the morning and that four way stop gets sometimes a bit jammed, surely they’ll have to make it a 2 lanes road with robots in the near future. in a way this project is excited coz it means access to the trails without riding through dunoon now that they closed access from the n7 to visserhoek and that the guys at the gate aren’t always keen to open it for cyclists. On the other hand while looking at the map I wondered where that road would go and what it means for hoogies trails, there is a possibility that it rejoins vissershoek where that gate is at the moment or like you say that quary road (hopefully), but if it connects to malans instead then it could be bad news for hoogies, at least for a part of it
  11. Hard to miss all the work being done around zone7 during our ride in hoogekraal this morning. Did some digging and found interesting info, so looks like berkshire rd will go all the way to the n7 and then towards vissershoek. Seems unclear for now where exactly it will connect (malans ? Or vissers somewhere around that gate they installed ?) Anyone has info ?
  12. He came to Killarney yesterday on his crux... It's something seing him do his thing on TV but I can tell you it's another hanging on to him when he hits the front and starts chasing....none other than Alan Hatherly... What a privilege getting to race with these two guys

    Boland 100 Miler

I unsubscribed, and as a result, I didn't get pre race information for Gravel monster 🤣 Luckily I had @bleedToWin to let me know the start time they emailed was 7:15, and not 6 as per the PDF on their website or 7 as the entry website suggested.
  15. we're an endangered species
  16. It is so incredibly sad that such a small mistake can cost you your life. As a former motorbike rider then racer, I've heard so many times of guys that never fell, until that one time. Others get to fall multiple time per year with no consequences... Other thing I've been thinking of is that I stopped racing motorbikes because at some point I found the fun I was getting out of it wasn't worth the money and the risk at this point in my life with two little kids. And now every 3 months someone I know more or less closely passes away or gets life-changing injuries during training...
  17. it is indeed
  18. Why would people share photos of a fatal accident on whatsapp, I'll never understand... Just heard that a mate from Table View passed away this morning, not sure at this point if it's the same accident. This is so ******* sad... The guy already survived an almost fatal accident a few years ago and was vlogging his whole recovery.
  19. From what I've seen so far white bibs are **** sivakov is the n°1 french rider
  20. Nah that’s great 😜😜
  21. I wouldn't race on the F1's, I have in the past, and I could tell some of my races were harder on them than they were on the Pro Ones or GP5K. Maybe it was all in my head, you believe it or not, but after 2/3 killarney races on them I went back to the GP5000 and instantly felt quicker. I wish the Pro One had better puncture resistance, I loved this tyre, but I was just getting too many punctures on them, also you must factor durability when you think cost. If you must replace a tyre every 4000km instead of 8000, and if it's not more than half the price, then is it really cheaper ? In the end I almost only train on my gravel bike partly because the tyres don't wear and are bullet proof (I'm yet to see sealant come out of them, after 2 years of training on it), and pretty much only race on my road bike, so the tyres last forever. I do admit though that they are *** expensive, and part of the reason why I don't ride my road bike is because the last time I rode over a stone and slashed my rear tyre, I kinda felt like crying 🤣 If I wasn't racing and only riding to enjoy, to be honest I'd only ride the gravel bike (comfort, grip, traction on the brakes to avoid all the dangers on the road..), but if I didn't have one then yes, I'd probably be riding the F1s, or doing a bit of research to find something that has good puncture protection and wet grip. On my bike in france I have some specialized mixed conditions tyre, it's *** slow but at least it has grip in the wet.
  22. That’s why we have gravel bikes 😜
  23. there's only one right answer, it's GP 5000, they're the right mix between speed, puncture protection and durability.
  24. ahah both, last year below uitkyk was really bad, both sides of the valley, didn't ride above the pass
