  1. Hi all PMs sent to Cassie, rad006 and miggies21. We can only solve problems we're aware of and the best way to let us know, is directly. Our contact info is on our website www.treadmag.co.za Our new distributor is very established and respected in its field but has had some delays in getting Issue 2 to some bike shops. They're smoothing out any bumps as quickly as they can. If it's caused anyone any inconvenience, I apologise. Thanks all for your enthusiastic interest and support. It's very rewarding!
  2. Congratulations Big H! May he bring you and your family much happiness.
  3. Yeah, saw that at the weekend. Wonder if he's still got it after all these years. Hope so...
  4. Your wife may be keen to start cycling again asap after the birth now, but that could change. I'm assuming it's your first child which means you're not yet aware of the changes in priorities women can experience once they become a new mum. I wouldn't put her under any pressure to start cycling. Just let her decide when she feels ready. Enjoy the birth and first few months of your new baby - life altering in the best possible way! Cycling will always be there, this time won't.
  5. Jeez! That's awful! Glad you're okay. Hope you get your bike back.
  6. Sigh. I was hoping Hubbers were discerning enough to appreciate that a three-week race is just that ? a three-week race! You may think these transitional stages are boring, but they actually have an effect on the GC contenders. Look what happened yesterday - Levi out with a broken wrist. That weakens Astana and gives the other GC contenders hope. Okay, not all transitional stages have such a dramatic effect on the GC, but they form an important part of the race. Each of these stages also wears some riders down while others maintain their strength or even ride into better form. Just be patient. Judge the race when it's finished ? and be grateful you weren't a cycling fan during the Indurain years...
  7. Ah, lovely! Never owned a Merckx, but the components and 80s-styling bring back some good memories.
  8. Instant gratification? Thats whats bothering me. A week into the Tour and I have to search my memory for a few lousy instants of gratification. Where the hell is the resistance? Where are the attacks, the strategies, the plans?. Is there ANY evidence of a resistance to an Astana walkover? Contador says in the rest day's press press conference that he was ordered not to attack on the Tourmalet, but to hold back. ( Ordered by Bruyneel, that is. ( Armstrong is getting on a bit you see. He doesnt like those instant accellerations), keep it nice and steady and keep the field together. No awkward racing, you see. We may get an instant of gratification on Mont Ventoux. I wouldnt hold my breath waiting though........ As I write this the highlights are being run on DSTV Ch205. Wait a minute, the picture has paused for ten mins, I didnt even notice until now....another BOOOOOOORING stage for the sprinters. Why not make it a 200metres stage? Same result There are cycling disciplines especially for people like you: 4X, DH, BMX and Track...
  9. Great moment in his life/your life! Take him to a gradual grass slope. Best place for him to learn...
  10. To me, tubeless is essential, especially when riding lots of rocky terrain. To me, fiddling with a happy tubeless set-up is not necessary. EVER!
  11. The Crow speaks sense. Listen to him...
  12. I think there might be a rider protest at the start today... Anyway, whatever happens, it's Bastille Day, so expect a lot of Frenchmen to attack. Alles! Alles!
  13. Obviously Astana riders/management aren't keen on this. It's going to weaken their grip on the race a little. I'm surprised they haven't come up with some way to get around the radio ban rule. Pro road teams are experts at this...
  14. My buddy Simon Finch is racing. He's hoping to break 9 hours...
  15. Once again, thanks for the positive comments and enthusiastic support. If anyone has distribution or subscription queries, they can call or email Joanne. Her contact info is under 'Contact Us' on our website: www.treadmag.co.za She hardly ever logs onto The Hub so cannot know if there is a problem unless she is contacted directly (or I mention it to her). The mag is now available in just under 200 retail outlets around the country, including bike shops, CNA and Exclusive Books. Contact Joanne if you want to know who stocks the mag in your area (we're still busy updating our 'Stockists' page on the website).
  16. They need a recently-retired pro to make the commentary more current and insightful. Preferably not someone that feels the need to mention Lance Armstrong every 32 seconds....
  17. Perhaps they haven't ordered/re-ordered. Need to know the name of the shop to be able to give you any kind of firm answer. The shop name is Bike Scene. Maybe they have not ordered yet. They are on our distribution list as having ordered. Maybe they've sold out?
  18. Perhaps they haven't ordered/re-ordered. Need to know the name of the shop to be able to give you any kind of firm answer.
  19. Please let me know and we'll rush another copy to you.
  20. nogal 140mm of travel. SeanB' date=' in you test summary you state that the Felt's frame is T700 blend carbon-fibre monocogue with a DT Swiss shock but you can see it is alu with a Fox shock.[/quote'] Well-spotted and quite correct. It is actually Felt hydroformed aluminium with Fox Float R shock with 150mm travel. Apologies for inconvenience caused.
  21. We have a Felt Compulsion 4 reviewed in Issue 2 of TREAD. Good bike, very good price!
