  1. Berg and Bush (its happening this weekend). There is a 2 day race, plus 2 3 day races. Easy to get into. Its the days 4,5,6 of Joberg2C from what I understand.
  2. Lots of B's. I'm in team ratty down in C.
  3. Weather SA's report looks better. I'd rather have some rain though than heat so I'm happy. Doesn't look like it will be stormy so thats cool. Think its going to get lonely at the back of the Great Trek with so few riders. I like having others around who are suffering as much as me :-) For those doing the Great Trek, what are your team names?
  4. Batches are out. Not that I think they matter too much for the Great Trek, only 243 rides. Its going to be nice and personal.
  5. That's one I want to ride a few times. I'm a bit chicken of riding it. Thought I'd ride just the bottom of it, but then you hit the rocks. Would love to see someone else ride it first. It's such an awesome trail though, lots of little jumps to get your confidence on. Problem is I now want a more trail oriented bike.
  6. I can't wait either. Getting really nervous though. Not worried about the riding, its all the logistics. Once I'm safely at registration with a bike in one piece, i'll be happy. Doesn't help that my bike is currently in hospital having her wheel rebuilt (had to get a new hub).
  7. I had the same question. I've been riding with normal tubes since june and haven't had a single puncture. Decided not to take a chance so converting to tubeless.
  8. Think its a bit too early to be looking at the weather report. What is the main area we are riding in i.e what region do we select when looking at the weather report?
  9. Wow, that video is incredible, really excited now. Stretch, when you say hot, are you talking 30's or 40+?
  10. Seems there are a couple of us with saddles issues that are doing B&B. I'm also not sure what to do.
  11. I did a lot of research last week as I'm struggling with saddles. One of the common things was bike setup. Saddle height and positition can make a big difference. Just a thought.
  12. You guys aren't helping me. I've decided to use the HT for Berg & Bush. Figure I'll be 30min to an hour quicker on the HT as its got nice rolling tyres so although the body might take a bit more of a pounding, i will have more time to relax afterwards. I survived 115km's on the HT and that included very corrugated roads. Next day, I felt fine.
  13. We are also doing the Great Trek. This time in 2 weeks, we will be on our flight to Durbs. BTW, decided i'm taking the HT. Rode my FS yesterday for the first time in 2 months and I'm so much slower up the hills. Not just because its a FS, I've got more grippy tyres as well.
  14. For those who have done it before, would u suggest doing it on a 26fs or 29ht? How bumpy is the majority of the tracks, or are they smooth like Sani2c with just a few technical sections?
  15. What about cycling through the docks? Are we still allowed to cycle through there. I always felt a lot safer than I do on the cycle track.
  16. What area do you live in? Did you have a burglar bar on the window? Sorry to hear of your loss, but at least you all slept through most of it and didn't come face to face with the burglars, u never know what weapons they might have had.
  17. Damn that is bad news. So many bike jacikings are happening these days in all different places. Where is it still safe to ride.......
  18. I'm a girl and I can put my 12.5kg bike on the roof of my car without any problems, you should be fine. Don't quite understand how anyone would scratch a car putting it on as the bike doesn't touch the car.
  19. I've got a 1.5 and don't even notice the bike on top.
  20. Less than a month to go, I'm starting to get nervous and excited.

My husband would love this! Think I need to buy one too.
  23. I did Knysna 80km's after only having my 29 HT for 3 weeks. I took a bit of strain on the one rocky descent and by the end of the ride my body felt a lot more tired than normal, but I survived and have now decided to use the HT for Berg & Bush (3 stages) as its better at climbing, but more importantly for me, it flies on the flats compared to my 26 DS. While rocky descents are a little bumpy, I've found that the 29 HT is no problem on the singletrack even if there are roots, rocks etc. If i had to chose one bike, I'd keep the 29 HT and sell the 26 DS. .
  24. My dad has both on his car. The only time we use the towbar mounted one is when we need to take more than 3 bikes on the car. The roof is a lot easier as its permantently on the car. Just take your bike out the garage and pop it on. Quick and easy.
  25. Try the Schapenberg trails, its just a drive down the N2. http://www.schapenberg.co.za/
