  1. Not my usual style of music, but I heard the group BlackBryd playing the song Keep On live on KFM and there was just something special about it. Bought the CD on Friday and am listening to it now at work and wow, I am impressed. Those girls sure can sing.
  2. They aren't cheap, but IMO worth every cent! My sons used his for 3 1/2 years and besides a few scratches on the guards it is still perfect. Bummer they don't have stock. They have obviously had a few people buying Xmas presents as they had stock last week. As the others have said, there are lots of options, but I think the pedalless bikes are great. The first day we took the training wheels off his 16" bicycle, he was able to ride by himself straight away as he knew how to balance on a bike.
  3. If you want something a bit different (everyone has the JD bug) have a look at the KTM kids training bike. My son had the plastic version which he loved, but the metal one is even cooler. You can get the matching helmet as well. They have them at KTM Paarden Eiland. What I really like is the hand guards. My son rode into walls etc multiple times. http://shop.ktm.com/com_en/powerwear/casual/babies-and-kids/accessories/kids-training-bike-metal.html
  4. Enjoy everyone!
  5. 1 goal for me, to conquer Spionkop at the 2014 Berg and Bush. I want that little flag
  6. Sadly it looks like I won't be able to make it :-( Tore the ligaments in my thumb on Saturday. I have however mentioned it on the Tygerberg mtb facebook page so hopefully some of them will join. Its great fun!
  7. Happened to me when I was a teenager. Old lady swung her door open on Lansdowne road. I had a choice to swerve into the traffic or hit the door. Ended up with a nasty slash on my shoulder and bent the handle bars on my brothers bike. Was so angry I just got straight on my bike and road away, think I would have hit her otherwise. Problem was, I got lost going home (which was only about 2km's away). Not sure if it was from shock or fear, it was my brothers bike! Was very lucky as I wasn't wearing a helmet! I didn't have my own bike and had just borrowed my brothers to go to the shops.
  8. awesome thanks, I'll give them a try. Don't want to go the tow bar route as I only plan on keeping the car for another 2 years.
  9. Go with however actually makes the boots for your car! I have a Honda Brio and can't find any company that makes roof racks to fit my car :-( I've got a set of roof racks, boots and a pro ride that I had on my previous car (2004 Honda Civic).
  10. As long as you aren't on the new section of Hoogekraal (which is members only) then there is nothing the member can do. I think the new section however needs bigger signs saying members only. I know 2 people (non-members) who have ridden the new section and honestly didn't know it was only for members. I think sometimes its confusing for people to know which trails are members only and which trails are for non-members. The corridors however are well sign posted so know excuse.
  11. Only way I'll go in the Atlantic is on my surfboard and no further than the back line. I am not too fond of them sharks.
  12. 400m Swim 12km MTB 6km Run/Walk :-)
  13. Sounds good, I might just go take a look. Do you know if they had female ones? I'm not at all worried about time so if it takes a bit longer to change, so be it. I just don't want to look like an idiot :-) Not sure if I'd be comfortable enough to run in just a costume, would rather keep the shorts on. Swim is short, it will be mid-Feb and in a dam so I'm not too worried about the temperature. Will make a nice chance from the Virgin Active baths. Have entered already, now I just need to do some more swimming and add in some trail running (normally only run short distances on the road). Love having a goal to train for. Thanks everyone for the advice, much appreciated.
  14. Hi After many years of not being able to swim due to a shoulder injury, I can now finally swim again. Building up slowly (so far max distance is 600m), but I am loving being in the water again. I am very keen to get into things like Xterra and want to start with the Grabouw Xterra lite in Feb. My questions are around what is the minimal equipment you can get away with. Tri-suits are rather expensive and I don't particularly want to spend loads of money before I know if I really want to do it. Can you get away with just having a costume? How do you then transition to the cycling? Any advice / tips welcome especially from the women.
  15. lol. You got the brand right! But then it is one of the most popular sports sunglasses around.
  16. My performance improves a lot when its cooler. All my best races have been in cold conditions. The hotter it is, the slower I ride. At Berg & Bush, my partner couldn't believe the difference in my pace after I had found a nice cool river to jump into. I went from half dying to being able to climb up a hill and overtake others with ease (that's until I dried out and heated up again). Some people just handle heat better than others. I hardly sweat so overheat quite quickly as my body doesn't cool itself down well.
  17. P.s. For anyone trying to guess, I would need the frame and lense colour as well. Not a standard option.
  18. If you can describe them, u can have them back. Found on middle canary at Jonkershoek today. If no claimers, i'll happily give them a forever home, they are rather nice.

For me it felt too much like an advert. They don't show any of the true character of the race. People helping each other out, people swimming in rivers / dams etc to keep cool. The race is not just about the pro's. I know they had footage as they showed some of it in the evenings. That said, just seeing some of the singletrack again makes me even more keen to do it again next year.
  22. B&B better than Sani. Better tracks, better water points and for the girls MUCH better showers. Showers after 2 day of Sani were shocking. W2W on the list, but I need to first stop doing B&B which I just don't seem able to do. Said this year was my last. Got back 11pm on the Sunday night, Monday morning my first thought was "I gotta do that again". Sani I only did a 2nd time because I wanted to do it with my dad (he couldn't make it the first year). We are so spoilt to have so many fantastic stages races.
  23. My son got his Specialized 16" when he was 3 1/2. Still preferred his KTM (similar to the JD) for the first year as he could do a lot more (flying downhills etc) confidently. Once he got closer to 5, his 16" became the preferred bike to ride. At 5 1/2, he is LOVING his bike and it will last him a little while still even though he is tall for his age. We have not had any rust issues with the bike. Its still in perfect condition and it gets taken through water, mud, sand etc. Last ride with training wheels First ride without training wheels (we didn't push it, waited until he was ready).

    Berg and Bush 2013

I had a guy who had stopped along Puff Adder to take a break. I saw him getting back on his bike so I sped up to try get passed. The ???? decides to pull out in front of me causing me to have to hit the breaks and then won't let me passed the rest of the day down (I rode right on his back wheel as I was pissed). At least his team mate had the decency to wait for us to pass.
