  1. Go ride the Wolwespruit flow trail, I think you will see that they know what they are doing.... I have been eyeing a line down one of the hills there recently wondering if they will make some kind of flow/jump line down it, will post pictures next time I go ride there and see if any of you guys agree that it looks like it could be something fun
  2. Silverback is South African born, the guys left to Germany. If think the Geometry on the Stride is a little nicer, more trail bike inspired, but if the TITAN has Thru axles that is a big plus, and for the kind of riding the OP said he wants to do it will be the better bike I think
  3. I can't believe the pricing on the Silverback, I bought one when I started out riding and it was R13500 with a dropper post added on, the pricing has sky rocketed, for what it's worth, it was a really nice bike, and super fun to ride
  4. Regarding saddle width, I have read often that to wide a saddle will cause chafing, but where does it chafe? I have a 155mm saddle that has been pretty comfortable, till today, it did NOT agree with me today, it felt like it was chafing my butt cheeks, like the transition area from thigh to butt cheek, it was really REALLY uncomfortable and actually ruined the ride a little
  5. This makes me think of a picture my buddy sent me....
  6. Giant has 2 options, one with molded pins and one with screw in pins, of you get the one with screw in pins you can just swap the pins out with grub screws, actually makes the pedals much more grippy like that
  7. Hey peeps, the wife and I are going to Mabalingwe for a couple days next month, obviously I want to take the bike/s with, but not sure what riding is available in the area? Are there any MTB trails around? Is it worth taking my DS bike along? Or should I just take the Gravel bike? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have.
  8. Happy with my Stamp 2, maybe not the prettiest or lightest, but they are good value
  9. Had a squeak on my bike a while back that I was convinced was the seatpost, took it out, cleaned and regreased it 3 or 4 times and just couldn't get rid of it, turns out it was actually the saddle rails, I was working in the right area, but not the right part, anyways, after reading somewhere to wrap some inner tube around the rails and then clamp it, I did that and now no more squeaking...
  10. Not really a bobbing feeling, more like a lunging feeling, some people don't get that ????‍♂️
  11. Personally, I did not like the Oval chain ring, but it is really dependent on the person, one thing you must remember with the oval and ground clearance is that it will change as you pedal, for example a 34t oval will have the ground clearance of a 32t round ring at one point but a 36t at another point I found that the oval ring made the bike feel jerky at higher cadence and I didn't like that, the rest of the time I didn't feel any notable difference. Try find out what the BCD of your cranks is and order a chain ring from Rapide, they are excellent quality and really well priced, and Wayne has round and oval rings available
  12. We will be going to check the tracks out maybe on the 31st or the weekend after, will let you know closer to the time
  13. Slowly getting stronger and faster....
  14. DDDDOOOO EEEEEEETTTTT Hopefully Tboss does one in GP as well, this sounds like an epic amount of fun....
  15. So, just to add my 2 cents to this, I know everyone has their own preferences etc, so this is not saying that what I found will apply to everyone, it is just what I found works best for MYSELF... On the MTB I have never run anything but flats, always used to just have those cheap plastic pedals, and they worked fine, but that was just commuting to school and back and to friends etc, move on many years to getting my first "real" MTB and riding proper trails, I tried out a set of "proper" flats, the right tools for the job, changed my life, the grip and security they give is just amazing, then I got my 510s, was less enthusiastic about them, made my feet numb and they really just were not comfortable and there was no noticeable increase in grip, in fact it felt like there was less grip, but I carried on riding with them because I was not going to have just wasted that money on a pair of shoes, I got more comfortable with them, they shaped to my feet etc, now I really enjoy them, but still don't see a noticeable difference in grip, but the stiffer sole does help with comfort on the pedals. So, when I got a road bike, I did the "right" thing and got proper road pedals and shoes, the right tools for the job, I was not at all comfortable with them, but I carried on using them because I knew it is something one needs to get practice with, I got more and more comfortable with them and kind of started to enjoy them, sold the road bike, kept the pedals and shoes, got a gravel bike and obviously put the pedals on there, it was ok, but my last 2 rides on the Gravel bike, I tried out the Flats+510 combo, I will be selling my cleats, I am just so much more comfortable and confident with flats, and I just don't see any benefit at all to cleats, in fact I am faster on my gravel bike with the flats than with the cleats, I put this all down to be comfortable and confident, maybe cleats are more efficient, but I can't see any benefits for MYSELF, I couldn't care less what that scientific data wada wada bull**** tests say, the test was not done on or with me, but with another person/s, so that data does not apply to me, we are all different, and not everything will work the same for each person.
  16. Big morning for me...
  17. If the stock wheels are anywhere as heavy as my stock wheels, you are looking at savings of roughly 700grams, however, for your wife's bike I would say maybe look at the PULSE wheels instead, and there you could be saving close to 1kg of weight
  18. I am pretty sure they put a stronger spring behind each ratchet for those exact reasons, a friend of mine has the 54T ratchet in his 350 hubs, they are pretty loud, but it is a good sound
  19. Seems rims are available separately at R5899 each
  20. Was super stoked when I got that mail this morning, then I went and had a look at the pricing etc, flippen awesome pricing and no doubt they will be great wheels, but just can't help but wonder if the R3k extra for South Industries wheels, that come with a lifetime crash replacement warranty, and laced to DT Swiss hubs is not maybe a better investment? Lots and LOTS of pondering for me to do in the next month or 2....
  21. Dammit Bob, I forgot about the Hyrax and Optic till your post, and that Trance X, too many nice bikes ????????????
  22. If my MTB was misappropriated, I would replace with exactly what I have now, plus the odd few upgrades it has, Norco Fluid FS1 If it happened to the Gravel bike I would probably also go for exactly what I HAVE, Cannondale Topstone 105, simply because I only got it like 2 weeks ago...
  23. At that price your best bet is Leatt
  24. I like both quite and louder hubs, obnoxiously loud hubs are tedious though, it's only fun for so long, then it just becomes draining and distracting
  25. To my knowledge, stock will only be available in November, I bought one from DISFRUTA a little while back but it was the wrong size, long story short, they said stock is only expected to be here in November
