  1. How is the mud situation at Modders lately? Want to try do a long ride from home to Modders later but hesitant because the mud last time was just crazy
  2. You can use SRAM quick links on the Shimano chain
  3. Short 25km ride today, at Thaba, so it felt like 100km to me, that place destroys me everytime, but I won't stop going back there
  4. My derailleur makes a grinding noise like that when it gets to dirty, dust/sand gets trapped between the cage and jockey wheels, also only makes that grinding sound when riding on the big rings at the back. I used to wash and lube those wheels after every ride but found the lube was attracting dirt and causing the problem, now I stripped the cage, cleaned everything and put minimal lube on, touch wood it has been good for my last couple rides
  5. A little ride in the hood
  6. That, and the fact that they spend a LOT more time maintaining the walking trails, when I was there on Tuesday at the area the Park Run is hosted, all the grass has been cut, new trees are being planted etc, but from what I saw on the Yellow MTB loop, there has been pretty much zero maintenance, except for the last fast singletrack I will continue to ride there though when it dries up a bit, it is close to where I stay and if I feel like a long, for me, ride I can ride from home, do a loop and ride back home
  7. But on the other hand, they do far more maintenance on the running/walking/hiking trails than the MTB trails
  8. It is a bit worse than normal there, but nothing like the above section
  9. You mean this section? It is all still very rideable, it just depends on if you kind getting dirty and soaking your shoes
  10. Just a quick note, it is VERY muddy at the moment, if you are going to go ride there, just be prepared, maybe run some "wet" chain lube, and just becareful, some places the grass is so long you can literally not see your front wheel
  11. Shimano M7120, these levers are actually for the M7000, but with some very slight modification they fit very nicely
  12. Some bling levers to replace the one damaged in a fall
  13. You are correct, there are some big muddy patches in places, after that first tar uphill going down that dirt road, there was a big pool of water at the bottom, then in the 2nd yellow/red section there are a couple muddy patches and in the slow reeds there is some mud, and some on the way up to the small dam, but overall it really isn't too bad, we only finished up to the small dam and then my nephew got hit by some serious heat exhaustion so we cut the ride short and went back to the car
  14. That is what I have done, I have a Rapide 30T chain ring, used with an SLX cassette and SLX chain with a SRAM link, shifting is smooth and crisp, no problems
  15. The recent rains made this an interesting ride
  16. Yup, Trail Wide 29", I wasn't expecting it to be as big of an upgrade, but I am sure I have saved close to 1kg of weight, the bike feels amazing now
  17. Not difficult, but, guess what I got...
  18. Got some new protection for my noggin, Bontrager Rally wavecel
  19. That's in East London right? Rode there last year December after all the rain, it was HORRIBLE, want to go back and do it in the dry, the trails looked epic, but the mud fest I rode in was just plain ***
  20. Scammer responded to a wanted add I placed yesterday morning, almost caught us, but the red flags started flying high when he was phoning every 5 minutes asking for a payment, at first we were going to get the bike shipped to us, but when the flags started flying we said we will collect it with cash in hand and he went off his rocker that E wallet is an easy way to do business and we are just wasting his time.... Guys name is Lionel, supposedly, number used is +27 62 322 7532
  21. Anybody possibly have some Shimano M7000/8000/9000 brake levers that are leaking and you are not using? Willing to buy them for a reasonable price
  22. Anybody possibly have some Shimano M7000/8000/9000 brake levers that are leaking and you are not using? Willing to buy them for a reasonable price
  23. A little ride around the hood this morning, almost got taken out by another **** I mean cyclist who jumped a red robot, but the Sunrise I got to see shortly after that made me happy again, so....
