    Giant Paint qaulity

Jo, that does suck. It seems that they don't keep "just-in-case" warranty stock, and I'm also pretty sure that they do not replace your damaged bike with one from a shop. It just makes little business sense on the latter though. It is such a pity that Dragons is given Giant such a bad name, as the Giant brad, internationally, seems to be incredibly well respected. Anyway, I'm looking to buy a 29r hardtail, and will most probably not by a Giant. I'll probably just "import" one directly if I did anyway. Someone told me that there was no Giant stand at the Argus Expo, I can imagine why, SO many people want to give Dragons a piece of their minds. And perhaps fists too. Maybe someone should look into becoming a new distributor of Giant in SA. Dragons cannot always have been doing it or always do it. But please keep it in Cape Town :-)
  2. RESPECT! YES! I remember you guys! You guys must've gotten crazy warm in those lumo suits! Yip, it'd just have been rude to introduce myself with my shades on, and they do have that flip-up functionality, so I just had to. Those shades cost me R4 at a hospice, and are perfect for cycling; they never steam up, and if you can't see where you're going, you just lift the flats ;-) Did you guys do it for a charity? Everyone kept asking us that!
  3. I was impressed to see some guys from # % VA etc coming passed us through Bakoven... They must have been one of the first groups of guys to have done 2 laps. Maybe next time. I cannot see myself doing 2 laps on an MTB, unless I started in D/E/F or even K or thereabouts, simply because I will most likely never own a road bike, nor do it on slicks, so getting that sort of seeding would be challenging! I wonder if anyone has done 2 laps or even the DC on an MTB. Oh yes and the smaller wheels ARE penalising. Seems I should get myself a proper 29" MTB...
  4. I also experience this. I told people I did 5:29, which I did and which is what was reported yesterday, but now it says 5:32. With an average of 19.87km/hr vs 20.something km/hr... Not a train smash but I'm sure guys who started 5-10 groups later are not happy.
  5. LEGENDARY guys, you did it in the wind! See this years attempt... https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/101159-argus-2011-board-members-meeting/

    Cycle buddy

Here I thought this was an ad for someone looking for a real cycling partner... FAIL. (just kidding)
  10. I am so tempted to say: BRING IT ON... But, alas Thor you have been training like a machine... Come now, do a race with me on an SS... Just disconnect your gear cables! What say ye?
  11. Sweet! Great report. I think I'm going to tes out 32-14 or 32-13 in the week. I'm in NO place to be pulling 44-16 just yet. I'm only starting in X.

I went to a signage company in Milnerton and had a bunch stickers made. True the cut-line could have been done better, but I'm impressed. I even made 2 Giant stickers; oe of the logo and one exact replica of the text on the head tube. They look surpurb! I've chosen this sticker to i) Remind me that this is still a bicycle which will get old, and ii) In keeping with the whole getting over Dragons theme: Don't worry be happy (and get out there and enjoy mountain biking!!!)
  13. OH yes. A mate of mine and I are doing it. Him on an OLD school Peter Alan! Check out the bell and horn we each have (His bike pictured)
  14. YES please, UNBELIEVABLE (Hugh Bladen accent)
  15. Which other hills in CT did you ride with that gearing? I've only done suikerbossie. I've also attempted Kloof nek and Kloof road on the 32-14 but ja I chopped OFF.
  16. I'm serious about not chopping off if that makes it any better. This is for a jol, but I'm not planning on being out there the whole day, or on pushing up any hills...
  17. Hahahahahaha. Yes. Its on the road, on a MTB, in a Suit... With a moustache. hahahahaha. I'll have to go and "rekkie" the course this week...
  18. Jo that sounds scientific, must say I've never heard of that nomenclature! The acceleration will happen on and SS and so will spinning on the flat stuff. At least it'll help for cramping!
  19. Rant on: Dragons... (spit on the ground in disgust) Rant off.
  20. Thanks, not sure if you are referring to the road or mtb ride? I'm referrig to the Argus road ridesorry. I'm doing the MTB one on my geared dual-sus... I've found 32-16 on the road is just too easy - Did the Burger and only droppd out of big blade (44) once, in the beginning.
  21. Thanks guys, should make life a lot easier for me...
  22. Ok... So, I'm probably doing the Argus on an SS. What ratio do you guys suggest? Its an old MTB, been riding mostly 32-13 but find Kloof Nek in Cape Town is killing me. On the flat sections I'm spinning like a big dog. This is my first Argus as well so I have no idea what to expect. I did Suikerbossie 32-14 and it was more then comfortable. I've got no idea what the rest of the hills are like and so have no idea what ratio to pick.. HELP! Thanks!

Man, after the lack of interest by Dragons, I'm so over it right now, just glad to be back on my bike again.

See, thats something I'd at least like Giant to consider. Review the paint application, adhesives etc. If it makes a bike's frame 100g heavier then flip make it 100g heavier, like the old bikes were, as long as quality isn' compromised. Just a suggestion though.

Hi All Got my bike back on Friday, had it rebuilt, including a freshly serviced fork, and will hopefully get some vinyl stickers today or tomorrow. I've missed riding it so much. Confidence needs some building again, but then again Jonkers can throw some tricky trails at you! Glad to have it back, crappy paint and all. I've really missed it!
