  1. Nah, I am going to see you guys off and then go back home Saving my energy for Bay CIty on Sunday - was convinced by 'Dale to rather ride that one because it goes along the Argus route - more practice for two weekends time (and no, I am not hardcore enough to ride both at max effort)
  2. I have an 8 speed 11-21 at home too..... put it on my IDT rear wheel. Have not used it since moving to 10spd
  3. I still have old school CWC kit! Still that old type fabric post wool. Long and short sleeve - also my dad's old stuff (that I don't wear anymore) I got a new le coq sportif / tour de boland jersey - looks damn nice! Will have to take a pic and post here.
  4. On the website - event #2
  5. Hey, we get most of our technology from Europe. Follow The Rules of the Cog as set out by the Velominati (google is your friend at this point) I use a tool bottle for training rides and only carry a tube, tyre lever, energy bar, Gu, with phone and money for races - in the back pocket. Saddle bag and camelbak is fine for MTB.
  6. A pair of Falke socks that my dad used to wear for cycling - use it for races only (just merely because they are the only longer than ankle length socks I have) - they date back to pre-1993 (when my one sister was born). Still have Suntour components lying around from back in the day too.
  7. Rule #29 No European Posterior Man-Satchels. Saddle bags have no place on a road bike, and are only acceptable on mountain bikes in extreme cases.
  8. Would be cool to try out
  9. There you have it
  10. Yeah, for those really out of line remarks that do not contribute to the OP's topic
  11. I got a puncture about 2Km in last year (down the long section heading back to Wellington town) - was trying to make a break and catch the group ahead of us. New tube and back on the bike in 4 min (according to my garmin) and caught my bunch at the foot of Champagne Street (last long climb) towards the finish.
  12. take the tyre liners out - they cause a LOT of punctures as they get older. Neighbours of mine did that two weeks ago for their tandem when they got two punctures on the same ride, same wheel, without any tell tale signs of external afflictions i.e. thorns or glass.
  13. We have consensus - I got the same reading for last year's Argus.
  14. I got 1202m from my edge 800 stats from last year.
  15. Starts from Hermon (left turn off R45), gradually climbs towards the Riebeeck Kasteel turn-off, then it does a short, sharp ascent, flattens off for a little while, and then goes to the Pass' climb - could compare to Ou Kaaps I think. Wind looks fine but the temp is predicted to be around 32° C tomorrow! Light SE for Sunday too At least it's cooler at the coast. Gonna be a long day in the saddle on Sunday skistar15 - with all that breaking on the descents
  16. So you got a bit of muscle damage too Mine wasn't as bad as that. Had a bit of rotator cuff pain but that is gone now.
  17. From the Vets league bunch
  18. Crit would be awesome to do but the crit isn't going to help me recce the 'world fun ride champs' route. Going skydiving the 3rd so can't ride the route then.
  19. I got an ITM expander that looks a lot like the pic divernick through etxeondo (manny) - try him. He is up that area
  20. I have spotted a Trek tandem road bike here in the Cape with disc brakes. Looks the shizniz! Just dunno what you would need to upgrade. Stopping power looked fine to me.
  21. Wheels roll 6am
  22. Here - http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/28485764 (map and profile)
  23. I will see you guys at the race but saving myself for Sunday's Bay City
  24. Is it general movement or is it lifting the arm above the shoulder outwards? It took me a couple days to be 100% again - mine was lifting above the shoulder.
  25. We were there around 5am last year and I started in E - I think it was just over an hour before I was scheduled to start.
