  1. Before I bought my current bike (CIOCC) late last year, I was seriously keen on an M10 (because the C59 was waaaay out of my price bracket).... well that was until I saw what the M10 would set me back!
  2. Yeah, and no one will let you live that one down eh?! LOL!
  3. fork me!!! I used to leg press just under 200Kg's when I was still doing provincial swimming, but donner! 631Kg's!!!
  4. I think I know what the problem is - they weren't wearing matching kit.
  5. Maybe it's because he blends in with the bush, so the competitors can't gauge how far behind they are.....
  6. Boet, your general fitness should carry you through The surfski'ing should have your core working and the legs will just have to follow. I remember the days that I swam and did lifesaving. The swimming carried me well for the various water events and beach running.
  7. +1
  8. Ah, I see JHB boys - I am in CT. Got it yesterday - yours should be on the way - today or tomorrow I would guess
  9. That is something that frustrates me always with some riders - the guys don't know how to pace line. The idea is that you do your turn on the front and when you peel off, you slow down a fraction for the riders behind to roll through at the same speed you were doing before you peeled off. I have on too many occasions had the guy behind me accelerate past me and end up dropping the guys behind him because of it. This also increases the pace and, most of the time, causes excessive unnecessary fatigue.
  10. Well done man! Good to know there are still honest people out there.
  11. So I assume everyone got their registration packs for this year? Nice mag - just haven't had time to read it yet.
  12. Think you caught the tail of the E guys - I did a 2:57 (10th spot I think) from E last year. Only you can determine the amount of damage - sit out front and work - it will definitely sort out the order of things. Just be prepared to be smoked by the time you get to Chappies proper - I know I was!
  13. Depending on where you stay meneer........ It's 100Km one way to s/suburbs for me. R200 for a race entry is a bit steep, I must agree.
  14.
  15. LOL! Time to eat the humble pie maybe? B)
  16. I only check my HR post race. Cadence is what I look at during the race. Time and distance is just to glance at. If I keep my cadence in a good zone, I have a great race.
  17. Schweeeeet! (for the eyes, not the wallet)
  18. I use 32Gi and eat enduren bars for during ride nutrition. How fast are you going through a bottle of juice? You should go through one bottle every 2 hours.
  19. Ah dude! One week it's me, the next it's you At least I have the wet roads with the slick to blame for my crash, and it was a bit smoother because it was wet tar

    My New Hero

Can't wait! (still have a couple years to go)
  21. but can't the same be said of MTB'ers? I have seen many threads on the hub re littering - I can remember one not too long ago about Gu sachets in Tokai........ To say "roadies are pigs" is like saying MTB'er are destroyers of nature........ those nice flowing single tracks were once not there - they had to be made. Bushes and grass removed for you to 'have a good time'. Just a thought. Painting everyone with the same brush is not cool
  22. Would have loved to have been there!
  23. Agree 100% It's these 'cyclists' that give the 'real cyclists' a bad name. These guys come out of the woodwork once a year for the world funride champs and then the bike goes on the hooks again for next years ride - they have no consideration of the lasting effect on motorists for other riders that ride the whole year through. and chances are, out of training season, these are the drivers that b!tch and moan that cyclists should stay off the road. Most roads in the cape are ride-able, but keep single file on the stretches that don't have a shoulder, and all will be fine.
  24. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
