  1. Got myself the Red-E Aura open air earphones for my solo rides. Sound quality is pretty good. Cant compete against something in ear but at least I can hear my surrounds while listening to music and not having to force those who I pass or pass me to hear my music either.
  2. Much appreciated. I will chat with the team, must have been a mistake. I can assure you that Cycle Lab will in fact transfer your bike between stores, for a fee of course to cover labour, packaging and transport.
  3. Can you recall who you spoke to?
  4. And this is exactly the reason why I suffered so much up Adderley, well not only that, mainly because I'm unfit, but I don't like to talk about that, nevertheless, would like to see that 'action' shot.
  5. Something to note that a lot of people dont know. Helmets expire, generally 3 - 5 years from production date. Im not 100% certain of the chemistry behind it but your chances of injury increase the older the helmet it due to age of the material. Also something to bare in mind, if you drop your helmet, the point at which hit the ground becomes compromised and weakens the helmet quite substantially. Another point, cost of a helmet shouldn't determine level of protection. Sure, some more expensive helmets have additional technologies such as MIPs. For instance a Scott Supra helmet, priced between R500 - R1000 depending where you shop, is great bang for buck but will also do a fantastic job protecting your noggin. Now im not saying go to Game and buy a Totem / Raleigh helmet for R100, obviously dont, but sticking to known brands will keep you safe.
  6. Unfortunately not. OP's warranty expired in 2021 with Silverback. Im not sure what what the legalities are, but I think OP might have a leg to stand on with the store he bought it from as OP was given the impression that it had a life time warranty. That would be a difficult case to prove though as OP would need to give evidence that the store said it came with a lifetime warranty.
  7. Silverbacks warranty if purchased before 1 January 2023 is 3 years on carbon frames and dual suspension bikes. Alloy hardtail has life time. Bought after 1 January 2023, carbon frames and alloy dual sus have a 2 year warranty. Alloy hardtail still has life time. Silverbacks warranty is strictly from date of purchase and does not restart if a frame or part has been replaced.
  8. Gonna have to use fitfiletools.com. Download the original from Strava, upload to fitfiletools, change the device to a Garmin and upload to Garmin connect. Its a Schlep but works. Currently using an Elemnt Roam What irks me with Discovery though is that their method to link apps has been offline for the last 2 months, so I haven't been able to link my new smartwatch. Discovery just says they're aware of the problem and hasn't done anything in my opinion to solve it

  10. Keytek are the current agents for Abus. I believe they do have a spare parts shipment they're working on
  11. On my way to N1 City this morning, I all most hit a cyclist who decided to run a red light while there was traffic on Old Oak road crossing Frans Conradie. Had it the other day as well, cycling home, turning right onto Cecil Morgan and here comes an oak blasting through the red light on his MTB, all most taking me out. In the last year while I've been commuting, I've had more close calls with other cyclists than with cars which is insane.
  12. In store and online. As long as the price is from a South African store and they have it in stock, Cycle Lab will price match
  13. Adrian at Cycle Lab N1 City on the ID Match Bike Fit. Only 1 on the continent.
  14. Funda-Mentals has refurbish a ton of e-bike batteries. I recommend him all the time and we use him often for out of warranty repairs. I have also recommended many stores to him who have had great things to say Funda Mentals Mobile: 082 859 6086 Office : 021 422 4216 Fax : 086 612 4706 moejy <moejy@funda-mentals.co.za>
  15. The only sealant I found that works is Sludge, specifically the pink one. It's been tried and tested and we used it with our teams at the Epic with 0 issue whatsoever. Punctures wouldn't seal with Stans or Squirt. It seems that ever since they changed their formulas in 2018 / 2019, their sealants just don't work anymore. Sudge however has always worked well and it's locally made in Cape Town.
  16. Thats awesome. Perhaps I will give Irma a try when / if I need another fit done. She's priced quite reasonable as well.
  17. I doubt it includes a physio, it didn't for me but it does take into account previous injuries, current complaints, etc. For example with me my right knee is shot after being in 2 motorcycle accidents and my left shoulder pains horribly after about 1 hour of riding. It took this into account in my setup and I have not had any pain while riding since. At most they just ask what injuries you have, where is it uncomfortable when you ride, etc and all the is put into the system. The system then scans you while your riding and it makes minor adjustments while riding such as increasing saddle height, raising the bars, moving them forward, all while you're riding to find the fit that works for you. There are also test saddles that can be 'loaned' out at a fee which is refunded when you return it, this helped me find a better fitting saddle.
  18. Try Cyclelab N1 City. They have the new IDMatch fitment station that adjusts while you're riding to find the right fit for you. Did mine last week and what a difference it made, so much more comfortable on the bike now, has actually increased my output somewhat. I think they're charging R1500 for the setup and it takes about 1 hour 30min. If I'm not mistaken, they're the only store on the continent with the IDMatch setup station
  19. Just a heads up. It's a bloody pain routing that dropper post cable. Have done one. Take your time, walk away when you get frustrated and come back 10min later after contemplating taking up drinking and smoking. But anyway, welcome to the Orbea family. Remember to register your bike online to activate your lifetime warranty otherwise you only get 2 years. If she gives you any problems, take her to your local Cyclelab or CWC and they will take things further, and likely put you in touch with me 🤣. In all honesty though, amazing bike at an amazing price, I ride an Orca M30 and had an issue with the wheels, got replacements 2 weeks later direct from Spain.
  20. Orbea Oiz H30 is on special at Cyclelab for R39999. Decent bike with lifetime warranty on the frame. 1x12 Deore with Fox suspension
  21. I can confirm that most Cyclelab workshops offer ebike servicing on Bosch systems. Johan at Cyclelab Fourways is exceptionally good with this. Bernard at CWC and Mac at Cyclelab Cape Town are also well versed in servicing Bosch motors. They also know how to service the Bafang M400 systems and also carry spares. Shimano is a different story as the system is 'sealed' and there are no OEM service kits and the motors are deemed non-serviceable and opening the motor will void the warranty. With that being said, I know that Johan at Fourways has had a crack at some out of warranty E8000 motors and has been successful. Generally speaking though, if you dont swim with your ebike, the motor should last many many years.
  22. Give RGT a test run. I've tried the others and RGT does a better job in simulating climbs and descents
  23. My new bike. Orbea Orca M30
  24. In the marshals defense and event organizers defense, Traffic Services were doing a terrible job. I was right at the back in group GS but roads were barely closed from traffic. The traffic cops were getting screamed at by the marshals to close off all the circles and they were just standing around having fat chats. We started over taking cars in the incoming lane in Durbanville, we were all most taken out at a few circles because cars were flowing normally and then when we turned to Fisantekraal, we had to dodge cars and 1 oak in an Audi Q5 all most hit us while we were turning. Tons of close calls along the route though
