  1. The driver stopped, told my mate he didn't have his driver's licence on him, gave false details and then drove off when I said I wanted the cops on scene. I'm assuming by his bloodshot eyes & empty beer bottles in the car He wasn't sober. He drove into the Navy base, my mate followed him to security and asked them to confirm the details we'd been given. They checked and said the details were false but circulated a picture internally and came back a bit later stating they'd identified him & that he'd be called up by his commanding officer on the Monday. He then filed an accident report at the police station late the following day - I'm assuming this was after instructions from his c/o.
  2. I'm not convinced it'll help, but contact PPA and ask whether they can recommend/advise a legal route. When I got hit by a naval guy in Simonstown outside the police station a couple of years ago the station commander avoided all my attempts to contact him and try get charges laid. Eventually I had to focus on my recovery and just walked away. Never a good outcome but sometimes personal health needs to be the priority.
  3. Thought of that, but it wouldn't explain why any SkySport channel streamed via Kodi works with no interruptions. It's literally only the Eurosport channels that seem affected....i.e. only the one I want!
  4. Can only access DStv via the streaming app and can't seem to find 430. Am I missing something?
  5. I can watch any sport on Sky channels without any buffering issues so don't think it's related. Literally only Eurosport that's pausing every 20-30sec then continuing. But still trying to figure out this Kodi thing!
  6. Anyone successfully watching on Eurosport 2 via Kodi? I'm still have buffering issues ☹️
  7. Oops! Thanks for that! Although it still doesn't solve my buffering problem. Going to try connect the media box via LAN cable to see if it helps.
  8. How's this working for you? I went through the Kodi install process, got Eurosport running, but the feed constantly pauses as if buffering. It's basically unwatchable ☹️ Fibre line Speedtest on my phone while sitting next to the Android media box suggests I'm getting 50/50mbps over WiFi. But running the speed test on Kodi under the Wizard menu shows only 14/18mbps. Ignoring the difference, according to the blurb on the Kodi Speedtest 10+ mbps should work perfectly. Any ideas? @Frosty help please! MSR on Sunday!
  9. You're better off buying a 2nd hand road bike than mtb. Mtbs need more maintenance and the possibility of buying something with worn out parts is higher. Where are you based? Here's an example of a R4k option which you could probably pick-up for R3700. Think you'll need a size M at 1.70 but someone closer to your height will need to confirm! https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/703557/raleigh-rc7000
  10. Don't disagree about the benefits of a gravel bike, I'm all for more endurance type road bikes. But if budget is an issue you can pick up a great rim brake carbon road bike for half of what you'd have to outlay to get anything remotely close performance wise in a gravel bike. Given that the OP's first goal would be to drop to a more racing snake weight (I was 72kg / 1.85m when riding sub-3 as a 20yr old...20+ years on I'm now much more like a puffadder than cobra 😆) I'd say throw R8k at a previously loved road bike and see how things go. If a road bike isn't for him then he sells it and only loses a couple of grand.
  11. Well done for persevering & continuing with a SS setup 👍 I was spectating in Lakeside after an unplanned ear op left me unable to ride. A guy slowly rode past going in the wrong direction, so I got chatting to find out what was up. Transpires he'd been involved in a small accident in Muizenberg and was concerned about his ability to keep going as he felt his braking was compromised. After opening up his brake calipers a bit, front rim brake wheel was slightly buckled, and some gentle persuading, he turned around and rejoined the ride. Hopefully he managed to still enjoy the day out and didn't spend the next few hours cursing me 😆
  12. Saw this on FB, looks like a great option if you're in CT. I'd just change the bars. https://m.facebook.com/marketplace/item/4545510775675077/?ref=search
  13. Most of the Simple Sam's that I've seen have old school quill style stems. Makes it hard to adjust the setup on the bike. I'd go for Rook based purely on that.
  14. Abus helmets also on special. Picked up a Stormchaser for R2700, retails at R3200 Those Giro's Bub Marley mentioned had very limited size & colour options when I was there on Thurs evening.
  15. 😆 You've actually circled me! White & red helmet. I was busy looking for the biggest, comfiest looking "mattress" to land on. Just remember going down and having others piling into my bike that luckily protected me.
  16. That's exactly what happened years ago to the front of 1F (I think). Took down about 40-50 of us, was total carnage. Just because some idiot thought it would be clever to try dodge round outside the cones and then cut back in. We got front page coverage in the weekend Argus & centre spread in the Cycle tour book....proper celebrity stuff 😖
  17. Have a look at the thread posted in the previous reply.
  18. 42x11 at a cadence of 90 rpm results in a speed of approximately 44km/hr. That's not an overly fast cadence, assuming you regularly train at that and quicker. However if the majority of your cycling is done at a much slower cadence then sitting at 85-90 rpm is going to elevate your HR and fatigue you faster. If you use the tables supplied you can get an indication of cadence & resultant speed using different gearing. Take note of a couple. Then when you're training try maintain certain cadences based on the speed & gearing you've noted.
  19. Supposedly not cycling involved. It sounds like an elderly gent passed away.
  20. I heard from a reliable source that the cyclist was hit head on by the motorcyclist while descending Chappies direction Noordhoek. Supposedly the motorcyclist was passing a car on a blind corner. Note, I don't think the car in pic was involved, think it was just passing through afterwards.
  21. Sure, easy if the data structures are the same...
  22. Isn't that an aluminium frame? I rode a friend's Norco Search a couple of times, great bike and excellent value for money. His was definitely an alu frame version though.
  23. Not sure when you're thinking of going, just be aware that it's bound to a bit dusty now with the vegetation being burnt. Think the fire that's ravaged the Die Dam/Buffelsjag area might still be burning. Quite a large tract of land already ravaged 😢
