  1. The seller of those wheels also has some 37C gravel tyres, buy both and setup as tubeless and you're good to go. Then all you need to find is a road cassette.
  2. I'm guessing you've just set your alarm clock 2hrs earlier 😆
  3. Yup, not a total red flag just a couple of things that stand out. I'd rather put it out there, if it's legit then maybe someone picks up a nice bike by seeing the ad, if not someone gets assisted to find their bikes.
  4. The price is actually relative, those bikes go for around R16k new. But who advertises a gravel bike for sale as a "racing bicycle"..but worse, putting up a pic of the bikes with the chain off!

  6. Flat bar HT with a rigid fork should theoretically appeal to guys currently riding their FS mtb on gravel type roads who feel more comfortable with flat bar setups. Likewise it's a great intro bike for anyone getting into the sport. The position on a flat bar bike can definitely be more confidence inspiring that a road bike setup. There's a huge gap in the SA market with very few hybrid bikes and people being forced to rather ride road bikes. Because let's face it, riding a mtb on the road is crap 😆
  7. (Going for most unhelpful suggestion podium) Mmm, ok then perhaps your easiest option is just converting to single speed... Sorry, your issue is beyond my pay grade. 😆
  8. Which chainring are you using, outer or middle? With a 3x you should have some options.
  9. Suggest you contact Nils at Woodstock Cycleworks https://www.woodstockcycleworks.com/ Highly possible that he's got a suitable frame in his vast collection of stock.
  10. I'm guessing it's this spot...bit different when I rode over a few years ago!
  11. Haven't ridden the race for years, but I seem to remember there was a section of track through the orchards to get back to the finish. However we're talking dirt path, not technical single track. Having said that, I rode up & down Seweweekspoort in early January on my gravel bike and it was pretty corrugated. Nothing unmanageable at all, but you're likely to be faster on the return on a decent FS mtb.
  12. It's not really such a straightforward question. Where do you stay/ride? How much do you weigh, how strong are you on the hills? Way back in time we used to ride 52/42 with a 11-23 cassette. Later changed to a 53/39 with a 11-25, definitely made climbs like Franschhoek pass easier. However nowadays I'm riding a 50/34 with a 11-30...I'm 20+ yrs older, almost 10kg heavier & lazy! Install a gear calculator app, play around with the gearing and you'll see prospective speed at certain cadence. It should assist making an informed decision.
  13. The amount of rage expressed on this thread is a pretty sad indictment of where we are as a society.
  14. I'm assuming you're aware that security cameras in the road picked up the incident and identified the car? If not, let me know & I'll put you in touch.
  15. Map pin suggests that it wasn't in fact Lover's Walk but rather nearer to Wynberg pharmacy residential area. Bit confused..
  16. Really sorry to hear about this, hope you're physically ok. What time did the incident happen?
  17. Forget the blue bibs, they have pancakes! Now I'm definitely going!
  18. Way back when, they used to give them to the kids undergoing treatment at Red Cross. Dunno, if I was a kid being given an old medal I'd ask where the lollipops were..
  19. If you find someone keen to take them please update this topic. I've got a bag waiting to be donated.. I know Red Cross children's hospital used to take them but last reference I can find was 10yrs ago.
  20. Don't you read press releases? It quite clearly states that the decision to cancel was mandated by local government.
  21. Not disputing that the time gaps are rather large...but out of interest did you watch Vingegaard's ride? I'm not sure I've ever seen such aggressive riding on a TT bike. The speed he was going around corners brings to mind Pidcock's descent last year, just insane. Actually, the only other TT that comes close was Vingegaard's final TT in last year's tour where he eventually sat up to gift the stage to WvA. Regardless of his speed on the climb, it appeared he was moving far faster than Tadej on the rest of the course as well.
  22. I think the fact that they think Jonas needed to go faster might signify that there are challenges bigger than mere image formatting 😄
  23. Well someone was watching a different TT yesterday 😆
  24. Highlights packages used to feature in-bunch footage, haven't seen any this year. Feel free to share..
  25. Crazy image. Where did you source it?
