  1. My search for bib shorts has a winner, InBike brand going for R430....By far the best fitting options I've found on Temu. They're a fairly slimline cut which suits me very well at 1.85m/79kg (ordered size M). Just bought a second pair. Haven't ridden longer than 2.5hrs yet in them, but signs are good. I tried numerous other brands, Souke aren't bad but they're generally short in the leg & not as snug a fit on me. https://share.temu.com/uirkPIickTB Only slight negative is that the waist is pretty high. Not sure what the deal is, it seems a common design (fault) on pretty much all the Temu bibs I've tried.
  2. I've been very happy with Specialized Roubaix (30/32) tubeless tyres. They've replaced them with a new tyre called the Mondo. Reviews are very positive. Someone's flogging a set at your price point https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bike-tyres/908841/specialized-mondo-tlr-new-set
  3. If only Discovery was more inclusive, I'm sure a fair number of people would migrate from Garmin to Wahoo units.
  4. I've heard a rumour that DStv isn't showing the Giro d'italia...can anyone confirm? Is so, what are the options - without delving into VPN required streams... To keep on topic, I know Alan Hatherly is riding, any other Saffas on the start line?
  5. This thread was created to share useful information about products being sold on Temu. Please can you refrain from posting if you haven't anything useful to add.
  6. Yeah I remember it being a long tough ride out of de Hel to the top of Swartberg! For me, your decision to overnight on the way out is such a refreshing take on things. Definitely all about the journey πŸ‘ Keen to see what you're thinking about Namaqualand, flower season could be awesome.
  7. @capediver thoroughly enjoying your videos, thanks for the efforts. I had the pleasure of overnighting in de Hel way back in about 2006 as part of the 2 day Hell & Back MTB race. Day 2 started at the base of Elands pass! Luckily we'd overnighted a few km up the valley so had a bit of a warm up ride - can't remember where we camped unfortunately. Definitely need to make a plan to get back in.... Just a thought, you should rather be posting your trips on a dedicated "CapeDiver adventures" thread than piggybacking on this one. I'm sure @Matt wouldn't mind moving your stuff over...
  8. Shouldn't ET be on the front? πŸ€”
  9. Lack of situational awareness boggles the mind sometimes. We often have a similar situation at the top of Suikerbossie heading north towards Llandudno. Groups will stop in the yellow line just over the top with not a lot of effort to stay left. Even if they're not concerned by getting clipped by a speeding motorist coming over the hill, what about having some consideration for fellow cyclists who now have to ride outside the yellow line to pass the stationary group.... it's weird..
  10. Awesome, thanks for sharing! What shoes are you riding in? Did you take takkies for the climb down die Leer? Might just be me, but you might want to reduce the overlay music volume. I find myself turning the volume up to hear you talk but then having to turn it down when there's music. Solving the farm gate lock puzzles, always entertaining πŸ˜†

  12. Who was the reseller? It appears the ad has now been deleted...
  13. Yes 100% the way to go if you can't do an in person deal.
  14. Was responding to Solly's request for clarity about the pic posted earlier in the thread showing the golf passing another cyclist.
  15. I'm making an assumption here, but the original pic also had a cyclist in it who was wearing different kit to that of the club kids involved in the incident. That suggests the pic was sourced from someone who was driving in the vicinity that morning and happened to snag the vehicle on their dashcam footage prior (or after) to the incident. It's not meant to be footage of the actual incident but rather of the offending vehicle.
  16. Was this a purchase via BikeHub? If so please let @Matt know.
  17. Quite possible that the motorist is part of the Navy. If my experience is anything to go by the Simonstown cops will do everything they can to not lay any charges against a member of the Navy. Interestingly though, I did find out that even an off duty member of the armed forces has a duty of care towards civilians. Which my understanding means that even if he was driving a personal vehicle the military police can charge him. Good luck with that...unless you've got a contact it's another dead-end...or at least it was for me ☹️
  18. Sorry to hear about your experience with Simonstown police station. Unfortunately it parallels my experience with them. I was hit & injured (elbow surgery required) by a potentially drunk naval seaman 50m from the police station a couple of years ago. After giving false information the motorist drove off. We subsequently traced him via naval security. The cops refused to come to the scene when requested by another cyclist.... literally outside their front door! They then tried to refuse to take my statement as per my retelling. Only after duress did they record it. I then spent 3wks trying to get hold of the station commander to follow up. He was never available & never returned my calls. In the end I had to give up and focus on looking after myself post surgery and moving forward.
  19. Yup confused me the first time when I got an impending delivery notification without being first asked to pay duties!
  20. Technically correct but no longer actually correct. @BuffsVintageBikes is spot on. Temu are now estimating duties & VAT and including them in the final price you pay. My last two ordered worked that way. https://mybroadband.co.za/news/internet/638569-temu-makes-big-vat-and-import-duty-change-in-south-africa.html
  21. Awesome! Thanks for sharing. πŸ‘ I've gone out & back up Seweweekspoort a couple of times and it's only when you turn and bomb down that you realise how much of a climb up it actually is... beautiful scenery & highly recommend it to all!
  22. In true Garmin UI fashion you have to access the radar as a light under sensors to adjust this setting...but then make other radar specific changes by accessing the radar under radar in sensors...
  23. To set the Garmin Varia RTL515 to Peloton mode, which uses a lower-intensity flash for group riding, access your paired Edge device or Varia app, navigate to Sensors > Lights > Network Options, set Light Mode to Individual, then select Radar and change to Peloton
  24. Had the pleasure of cycling in a team with him almost 20 yrs ago to do Hell & Back plus a couple of K2Cs. Absolute gentleman always willing to share his wealth of knowledge. Remember him carbo loading on baked potatoes the night before Hell & Back as if he was expecting a famine πŸ˜†
  25. Ping @guidodg I think he mentioned having one.
