  1. And even if you do get a slot as an Age Grouper I don't believe TSA give you any help. But ........................ I just need to add that there are very few Triathlons every year and that may be the reason they cost so much in TSA fees. They do help Elite athletes with expenses, etc, to get to the LD Worldchamps and other events. If they collect R 300 000-00 / year in race fees that doesn't go far in getting a few athletes to these races. Consider the R 120-00 / race a donation towards getting our top fellow athletes to these events. I agree it shouldn't bankrupt the event, but it should be added to the entry fees. Maybe it could be voluntary?

Laughs, actually I'm quite enjoying racing / taking part in events this year after racing only 4 times last year. I was chatting to a friend this morning at gym and we were saying how nice it is to take part in a lot of events. She says she's going to do some Tri's as a team with her boyfriend where they each do their weakest disipline as fun events to take the pressure off (she won her AG at IM 70.3SA). Did the JoburgCity Tri this weekend and am thinking about doing the Prestige 70.3 on 19th Feb and Buffelspoort 70.3 on 11th March.

That's what my coach says. But the way I figure it, is that unless I go to the US and spend 2 months acclimatising to the weather, I'm not gonna win it, no matter how much faster I get. I'm no spring chicken, so finishing all these races is my challenge, this year.
  4. Want to add a Physio service to your package? We taking ours with. Yes, she's hot and we'll provide beer!

According to my coach, not far enough! 12 weeks! I told her Africa is no place for Sissies. Now I just got to get a Kona slot to really make things interesting!

Not only crazy enough to do IMSA, but to follow it up with Joberg2C, 5 days later, followed by Comrades and 70.3 World Champs in Vegas.
  8. 1. Stay away from the bouys 2. Find some feet to follow (look for bubbles) and stick to them 3. Concentrate on a long easy stroke Ignore all my advice, I'm a *** swimmer too!
  9. No duites on parts
  10. I also need something, but only R 300.00

No, perfect conditions. A small headwind on the way back, but nothing to write home about. Did everyone enjoy the race?

That is exactly my plan. Go too hard on the bike and find out when I crash and burn on the run. So if you see someone crying on the side of the road on the 2nd run lap, it's probably me.

It's hard to make it back in 1h05. If the wind is behind you up the hill try for close to even splits. If it is a headwind out, then like a 1h38 / 1h12. Remember, it's ALL about the run. Every 1 minute too hard on the bike, costs you 3 on the run.

I know you can wear a wetsuit up to 28.8 deg C, but I'm asking, what are the chances of the water being over 24.5 deg C, where wetsuits are only allowed if you are not competing for awards or slots?

Anyone want to put money on a non-wetsuit swim?

Nope, first PRO's then 18 - 39, then 40+ Men, then Ladies, then Teams Be prepared for a cup of HTFU. Those mens starts have more than 1000 in each group.

It will feel like Jacob Zuma's nephew is sitting on you whilst getting punched by Gerrie Coetzee in his heyday.
  21. You can buy mine for R 2000-00
  22. Check on the Zipp Website. I just ordered an 808 and 404 front. Firecrests are quite a bit more ( and faster) than the normal Zipps.
  23. R 15 500 isn't for the Firecrest Wheels! Firecrests will be around R 19k
  24. I've seen lots of people swimming in Emmarentia Dam, but I ran past there yesterday and this morning again, and there are LOTS of nasties, floating against the wall. I live in Milpark, but my training is erratic at best (5am / 8pm). I've got a 2 hour run on Sunday morning (around 23 -24km) if you are interested.
  25. Firstly, I need to point out I am not a good swimmer. But, I know I need to be able to swim 1.9km / 38km with and without a wetsuit, so I practice. My suggestion to all those that want to change the rules, is to HTFU and practice. Sport is not supposed to be easy, the next thing is those that can't run will want to use roller blades for the run. Use it, don't use it.
