    Breedtsnek?

Intersection of Hendrik Potgieter and N14.

    Breedtsnek?

Yes. We're leaving the Sasol garage at 5.30 - 6am. Takes 1.30 to the garage at bottom of Hekpoort. So you can start at either place. We will try and average 19-21km/hr.
  3. I'm sure I read somewhere (Tread or Ride) that overseas they have tracking units that fit in the frame.

    Breedtsnek?

What do you mean the dungeon's closed? I'm sure after 3 repeats of The Nek, I'll be able to erm, persuade you to open it again. *giggles*
  5. Yep, two weeks old. The guy is desperate to sell.

    Breedtsnek?

I only didn't come because I couldn't bear to share you with the other hubbers (oh, and the fact I was called down to Cape Town on business ) I'm going to be spending a bit of time on my bike over the next two weeks, so drop me a PM if you want to ride.

    Breedtsnek?

I guess it's about time I started preparing for Joburg2C. Anyone keen on some LSD rides this week? Was thinking about riding from the Sasol garage at the Hendrik Potgieter / N14 intersection, to Breedsnek and back (around 130km / 1800m) or riding from the Garage at Breedts and doing two climbs (80km / 1500m) . I wouldn't mind doing this a few days in a row to build some good base, so if you'd like to join, feel free.
  8. I had the same problem and moved my crank arm 1mm out. Problem solved.
  9. Yes, but only if IanJ promises to get me to the top by 7.05 and you promise to show me your dungeon afterwards.
  10. *If we're doing this as a hub 'ride' and not a hub 'race' we should get to the top at about 9h00* Pffft, if IanJ's on the front we'll be at the top at 7.05, even if we do it as a ride.
  11. Now .......... that's just mean
  12. sorry, come here and let me kiss it better
  13. Looks great. Did you do your 120km today?
  14. Exercise physiologist Lynne Kammer of the University of Texas and her team studied 12 trained cyclists -eight male and four female. In contrast to many sports nutrition studies, however, the exercise protocol was designed to reflect a typical exercise session. After a warm-up period, the subjects cycled for two hours at a comfortable work rate, rather than the more frequently seen test-to-exhaustion. "Our goal was to compare whole grain cereal plus milk?which are ordinary foods?and sports drinks, after moderate exercise," said Kammer. "We wanted to understand their relative effects on glycogen repletion and muscle protein synthesis for the average individual. We found that glycogen repletion, or the replenishment of immediate muscle fuel, was just as good after whole grain cereal consumption and that some aspects of protein synthesis were actually better". "Cereal and non-fat milk are a less expensive option than sports drinks. The milk provides a source of easily digestible and high quality protein, which can promote protein synthesis and training adaptations, making this an attractive recovery option for those who refuel at home". The researchers concluded that, for amateur athletes and moderately physically active individuals who are trying to keep in shape, popping into the kitchen for a quick bowl of whole-grain cereal with a splash of skimmed milk may be a smarter move than investing in a high-priced sports drink.
  15. Ridden both. Short races XTC, longer and multistage races Anthem.
  16. Thanks for the concession. Looking forward to it.
  17. XTR is 100 times better the X0
  18. Actually, I sent them these results, but only ROAG events count. Like I said, I'll start at the back, but at Hill2Hill because of the nature of the start of the race, it's going to be dangerous. If there was 10km of rolling jeep track or dirt road after the start, I wouldn't even have posted here. mrmed2009-07-08 01:51:24
  19. Last week I wanted to enter Hill2Hill, so ................. I filled in all my information on ROAG and entered the race. Then I found that the race is seeded so I sent a mail outlining my results in races (stage and one day) only to have a polite e-mail sent back to me saying sorry, but I'll have to start at the back because only ROAG events count towards their seeding. I've got no real problem starting at the back, but if I (and other people in the same boat as me) ride hard and there are people with a seeding of 2.58 in front of me I think there's going to be some accidents in the forest after the start of the race. I really believe ROAG need to do the hard work (this is the reason they refuse to seed me and I presume others) and get everyone seeded according to their level. I think seeding is a great idea, but there needs to be one data base. I would love your comments, so I can send them to ROAG.mrmed2009-07-08 00:16:16

    Spruit

Hmmmm, I saw some ADT guys and some MTB'er I was over-taking remarked that there had been quite a presence at the same spot earlier, but they didn't know what happened. If this was the incident then it was just before the last wooden bridge near Paulhof end of the Spruit, where the tar road runs parallel to the path. I must have ridden past at around 10.30 - 11am and only saw the ADT guys. On my way back at around 1pm there was nobody there. The same MTB'ers mentioned earlier said a friend of theirs had had their bike and shoes stolen near the new section alongside the highway.
