    Great

What I can never figure out is the PR spin banks have with "relationship managers" In relationship parlance you should then be able to tell them that "we need to talk ", just as wifey does when something goes pearshaped .. and then matters get sorted out, or you agree to disagree. That's a relationship we all recognise. It's a two-way street. But with banks it never gets into that territory. It's largely just "do as I say or else" because they sometimes have your nuts in a vice-grip, and they call it a relationship, with the "customer" part conveniently dropped. To me it's prostitution .. you pay hard cash to deposit .. and to withdraw .. and for the convenience of doing either . Some relationship that is.
  2. I read about an invoicing scam in the mid 1990's before the internet really took hold. Two young men set about invoicing medium to corporate companies across the USA for small service amounts due. The amounts were small enough to not attract attention, and once they were in the companies' system they just billed monthly without question. If there was a query early on they just did an "oops, mistake, we'll refund you", until a determined clerk unravelled the scheme which these two had been running for close on four years against over 250 companies.
  3. umm, leet22 .. rather just tell your best friend that you think his mum's quite nice, than ask this question on the Hub. Your forgiveness on the former statement would be swifter and quickly forgotten. It sort of takes on a Fight Club personality this subject. BUT if you must know, then Search .. quietly.SeanMort2009-06-08 13:59:12
  4. General training = water. Racing and harder/longer training rides = Game Iso powder mix. It's cheap and does the job. I got too lazy some time back to go and buy anything else like Fast Fuel etc, and found these 80g Game sachets in the Spar. Makes a litre and costs about R5 - R6. When I get home I used to have a tuna sandwich, but since the price of tuna has rocketed I just have a peanut butter sandwich or two. Seems to work for me.
  5. Well done for getting on the soapbox and making your feelings known . Ultimately, and I'd hate to say this, but it seems that this matter may not rest with just your input. It will escalate given half a chance. I've seen the bike shop price fixing saga thread escalate to the point where it came out in the national media .. but this had it's merits. Ian needs to sort this matter out with the other party [who posted his grievances on the Hub] pronto. Maybe Ian needs a soapbox moment on the Hub too .. or just a statement from him. It would be good to hear his side of the story though. This would be progress.
  6. Tongue in cheek
  7. Hello Timothy ! I thought you'd forsaken the Hub for pastures anew. No more skating either ? Don't go for the brake fluid though because that will really ruin your paintwork.
  8. On the East Rand some oke's use diesel to warm their legs up before a race , or just sommer because it's a ride.
  9. I live on the edge of Milnerton and ride with the City Cycling Club based in Edgemead. Easy 15 min ride from Milnerton and non-club members are welcome with no hassle. Great bunch of people to ride with. Go to www.citycyclingclub.org .
  10. David, I was reading this article the other day http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/151608.php and thought of this posting you made. I realise that you haven't had the stroke problem, but I do know you wear compression socks, and was curios about the effectiveness of them. Do they really help ? Put another way, can you feel a difference with/without them ?
  11. It still won't stop them though. They could simply register with bogus credentials and carry on ripping people off. What may be safer is to introduce a confidence rating based on some criteria such as Hub status or CSA Licence no, or suchlike, and then the seller will either take his chance trying to sell on The Hub with a low rating, or be forced to sell it on another website like Gumtree. The purchaser will have a measure of confidence in dealing with the seller. It's not perfect, but reduces the occurence of this happening. I realise this may make transactions a bit more long-winded, but in this day and age it's better to be safer than lose your dosh.

    Tonight!

Sjoe ! this will be . jamex, why don't you divide your grazed skin into sections and put some of the aformentioned remedies to the test. See which ones really work and report back .

    Tonight!

You may also be able to lodge a Road Accident Fund claim. Check it out. Also try find witnesses. Place an ad in the local newspaper to help you with this whilst it's still fresh in someones mind.
  14. Business would be great if it wasn't for those bloody customers ! Perhaps they could have an appropriate "cyclists section" and get their staff to wear Michael Jackson masks. In these tough times you would think businesses like this would be a bit more innovative and accomodating. It's not like we're smokers after all !
  15. Who's the dude on the Astana colour Trek? Not sure. I live in the Cape now. Oh' date=' ya, I see that. And the blonde? [/quote'] Might be Ozzie's other half. Ask madmarc .. he rides with them.

  18. At the going rate for fuel these days it's no wonder Astana is in a financial pickle .. or is Shell the new sponsor ?
  19. Flipped through the latest Bicycling at CNA and recalled that most of the articles in there are repeated in some fashion from previous issues. Decided to spend my hard earned dosh on the latest Noseweek mag that's become a more regular read. Who screwed who, where, when, and for how much, is of more interest than repeats of how to do repeats, intervals blah blah blah .......
  20. Hello pedal ! Chris Jnr was trying to set his own record without his team mates. The guy was on fire ! MTN took the win though, but no record. I also watched him and Garth Thomas light up the Madison event on Monday. Great racing
  21. It was exciting to watch this race ! No wonder CW Jr left his team in the dust on the last few laps ! .. but it wouldn't have counted I don't think, as the time of the 3rd team member across the line counts. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong about this.
  22. I was reading the Cape Times today and it was wall-to-wall Zuma this, that, and the other *yawn*, as most newspapers have become in the past while, and then out pops this article about a fellow cyclist willing to go the extra mile(s) to improve the life of a little girl by taking on a truly epic (are we allowed to say this yet ?) ride. Read Gareth Allman's story and request at www.wideride.co.za , and for far less than the cost of an Easter egg you can make a donation, as I have done, for this cause. This guy has my support Happy Easter to you all !
