  1. Very interesting subject - just look at the difference in the colour of the fat for those that make their own biltong - grass or organic = yellow fat, grain fed = white fat
  2. Another option that works really well should you want to try cleats that uncleat easily is to go for Shimano's SM SH 56 Cleats, these are "multi-directional cleats" that uncleat extremely easy, in fact if you set your shimano pedals to fully open you can uncleat easily whilst pulling you leg upwards. The nice part is that you can "tighten" the cleat resistance on your pedal as you become familiar with the cleats. Got a pair from my lbs, they are difficult to find in SA, but Chain Reaction stocks them as well. I started off with the normal cleats, and after a number of badd spills decided to try the SH 56's on advice from a friend in the UK - I have not looked back after fitting these
  3. Great service from Hannes on a previous order, feel free to purchase!

    Noble Steed

Really nice...not to stealth, and not too bling, very good!
  5. I recon it's a good helmet light, but depending on your requirements and if you ride more technical stuff, best invest in something more substantial such as the Magic Shine lights to add to your armory, so in short, a good light fixed to your helmet as well as one on your bars should do the trick...
  6. Thanks a lot Guys!
  7. Guys, Not sure if this has been discussed on this forum yet, and I know it is a personal thing (ie what works for me might not work for the next person), but do the Powerbar products work for you, and if so, are they any better than the other products on the market such as USN, 32GI etc. I find that the PowerBar Isoactive and the Isomax drinks work very well for me - has anyone tried them for endurance races, and what is your opinion of the products ? I will be doing a three day mtb endurance ride (not a race) so would just like to get your opinion...
  8. Sounds very much like traffic on the N1/N2/N3 etc. once people start rubbernecking at an accident they slow down and all else falls apart, but maybe not quite that - surely most mtb races have a chart/aerial pic of the route, so perhaps it comes down to planning where you want to be at what stage of the race in order to overcome this problem/ just my 2c worth...
  9. I just like the simplicity and "clean" look of handle bars without all the accouterments attached...you don't need the indicators to tell you which gear you are in, your legs will tell you...
  10. Eggies are good, just watch out for rocky terrain as a good hard wack on the bottom of the pedals by a rock might unclip you...
  11. +1 - It's amazing what difference there is between SM-SH51 and SM-SH56 cleats - the SM-SH56 cleats clip out so much easier than the 51's, and you can clip out in any direction...and as you get more confident you just adjust the tension on your Shimano pedals...I would recommend the 56's for anyone starting out with clipless pedals, they're amazing.
  12. Hi, My wife uses them, and is very happy with them - definitely higher maintenance than Shimano's, but maintenance and bearing kits seem readily available - why the swap to Candy's?
  13. Having owned Kona's, Yeti's, and SC's I rate the VPP suspension design very highly - would love to try the Tallboy LTc !!
  14. ....I just want one yellow one... ....
  15. Saw it this afternoon on the SC Facebook profile, thought at first it was a April fool joke - bike porn!...
  16. Great to see Andrew Neethling within the top 10...
  17. Guys, to those that know the track, what will be a good point/area to get some good pics and video footage?
  18. According to Accuweather thunderstorms and showers predicted for Saturday and Sunday, eish, lets hope they are wrong!
  19. This is gonna be great!! Me thinks the weather might make it very interesting..
  20. I like it... a bit different than other "launch" videos...
  21. I have one of the 3 bike hatch rack things, and have just bought a Thule RideOn as I didn't like the hatch rack at all due to scratches to my bikes from moving around and to the car where the "U" hooks attaches to the cars hatch. I would also hesitate carrying more than two light mountain bikes on the 3 bike rack ...

  23. R You serious Dale?
  24. They are super reliable and helpful, I ordered two mtb lights from them, and Andre called me the next morning and informed me that they where out of stock on the items. He offered me alternative options at a great price, and without further ado the order was processed and shipped, so I am very happy with their service, give them a chance, they will make good
  25. Sorry my knowledge is limited, but from what I hear it seems that Fox is perhaps not the best fork to go with now? I have had a RS Recon on my kona (solo air), and then a RS revelation on my Yeti (dual air), and on my Santa Cruz Blur XC I'm running a Fox RLC FIT, so am finding this interesting, as I have found all the forks very good with little to choose from..
