  1. Johan, its not a simple steel gear cable that Shimano make, its a stainless steel gear cable designed and made differently from all the copies on the market to work with Shimano components in conjunction with Shimano outer sis casing. On a similar basis Shimano spend millions of Dollars designing and perfecting their chainrings and cassettes to work 100% and offer the consumer the best shifting performance on the market. There are copies which you have your opinion on but i can assure you that from our experience Shimano is the easiest to set up and offer the best allround value for money. Johan, this is a website where all parties are members whom express there views in a way which will entice more information to be sought by cyclists not only from your point of view, its an adult site so please refrain from posting childish remarks on it .
  2. Christie, you can change to any product you so wish. I am not here to dictate and push only the products we service and distribute only to inform you as the consumer with information that will help you save money and have a reliable and functional product in the long run. rgds sm www.coolheat.co.za
  3. Carbon Boy, trust me i am not talking k--k.After many years of experience Shimano produce a product which rates far higher than lots of immitations and ciopies,we see the results every day of people using cables which simply dont work.Come and work at the Epic for 9 days and you will experience it all first hand. rgds sm
  4. Your gear cable looks untidy as its already unwound itself and is too long. Suggest you get a gear cable outer cap aluminium from your local store. Also get your dealer to check the length of your outer casing which goes from the frame into the rear derailer as it seems yours is too short creating huge drag and eventually blowing the STI lever and or giving you bad shifting performance. rgds sm. www.coolheat.co.za
  5. Shimano cables both gear and brake are designed to work as a complete system with STI, rear derailer etc etc. Whilst these Nokon cables mite look very bling they are not designed to work with Shimano or give ultimate shifting or brake performance. Sis means Shimano intergrated System or STI means Shimano total intergration.Using non Shimano cables both inner or outer creates more stress and could render the warranty of Shimano components invalid. Why wate alot of money for something that looks bling but is not recommended . rgds sm www.coolheat.co.za

  7. Sorry guys we wont be able to load all spoke tensions on the Hub as this info is loaded on our server at the office. We will next year offer you a Hyperlink onto our website giving you all the technical info you will need to build a proper wheel with a tensionmetre or you will get stuck in the middle of a wilderness without it. Merry Xmas and keep the wheels turning sm www.coolheat.co.za

  9. Sorry but Stephen has not vanished into a wilderness and i have seen on the website and have noted the comments with great interest regarding spokes breaking, tensions and the like. The reality is if you dont use a spoke tensionmetre you will be lost in a huge wilderness. Sometimes spokes do break at their heads when there is too much play between the spoke and the hub flange hole and then spoke washers are used to counter the play.Had Doug Patterson come and visit me this afternoon and he confirms what i say as he is the master after all. I will if i get a chance post on the Hub a detailed spreadsheet of tensions for both Shimano and DT. Happy Xmas and all the Best for 2008 rgds sm www.coolheat.co.za
  10. Shimano, DT, Mavic offer a comprehensive list of spoke tensions for their wheels. Not sure where you get your info from but anycase everyone to his own opinion.Suggest you get in touch with Doug Patterson whom can explain more to you . As mentioned we see more issues with nipples pulling out of rims, flanges breaking, etc etc than most. rgds sm
  11. What make of pads are you using>>>??? rgds sm www.coolheat.co.za
  12. Building a wheel by simply just tensioning a wheel by hand and truing it is not the real way.A tensionmetre lets you take control of the maximum and proper tension on every spoke, there is no other way of doing a good wheel .Sure you can get away without it but long term its the best way forward.I have been in the business for nearly 25 years and have seen what happens with all sorts of wheels. No tensionmetre = lots of issues such as spokes breacking, nipples pulled out of rims, eyelets cracking on rims, hub flanges breacking off due to improper tensions etc etc.Invest in a tensionmetre and you will have 100 % success rate. DT Swiss offer a book written by Gert Schreiner(Not sure of spelling) and its very informative r gds sm www.coolheat.co.za
  13. Without using a Tensionmetre when building a proper wheel you are wasting your time and money. Anybody building without it is lost in a wilderness.. sm
  14. Shimano do not have a weight restriction on any of their wheels. Please advise me what distance you have done on them and also whom last worked on them as this should not happen under normal circumstances. rgds sm www.coolheat.co.za And a big question is was a spoke tensionmetre used to check out your wheel when it was worked on.???
  15. Wish you guys would just stick to Shimano as there are spares and it works. sm
